I know someone who can operate these cranes in real life and he told me that the heavier of an object you want to pick the closer to the truck it needs to be so the truck doesn't tip over and only light objects can be picked up from a far. So basically the heavier the object from a far away will tip you over and the same for lifting in he air the heavier it is the lower to the ground you need to keep it so you don't tip the truck over and light objects it doesn't really matter as long as it doesn't exceed the wight the crane can carry and the weight of the truck, meaning if the truck is 18 tones it doesn't mean the truck is 18 tone in weight it means you can carry a combined weight of 18 tones so if the crane weighs 1 tone and the truck weighs 10 tone you can only pick up and carry a maximum of 7 tones for the combined weight of 18 tones so you are at the legal weight max limit for driving on the roads safe, At least these are the laws in the uk and europe where that truck made i think those trucks are German
