To me that was the Pinnacle of Engineering. It was an engineering masterpiece and my favourite car. I so the p2 on top gear and I was 19 years old and guess what I am still waiting 😭😭. It's an art for a private collector that was heading away from Public eyes that's the way I see it and nobody knows exist until the person died. what a shame😢😢😢😢

Prodrive were also interested in entering Formula One at one point using Mclaren chassis as a b-team like Toro Rosso, until the FIA banned sharing chassis between teams. I liked this car when I saw it on Top Gear. It looks like a futuristic (or at least what designers thought futuristic cars would look like when making concept cars in the early 2000s) Subaru crossed with a Ford. Shame they never put it into production.

They made more money, at lower risk, by selling the technology, all the next gen 4wd cars had some variation of that yaw control. They didn't build the prototype to sell parts to ricers, the build it to sell tech to Ford and Mitsubishi.

Should do a video on the x1 concept car. It was a carbon monocoque car, made a whole 2 years before the p2. The x1 had evo engine and running gear. It was made by the very same people that were doing prodrive's composites at the time. The p2 was made in RESPONSE to the xworks/ralliart x1. So the prodrive is a copy of the x1.

I think this car was absolutely awesome since seeing it on Top Gear. Wish this thing was a production car.

after that episode i still don’t understand after years why no brand like audi or subaru ever try to develop an anti-understeer system like that

I knew this car existed but I never knew Colin McRae drove a Ferrari 550 at Le Mans. It's a shame the P2 was never produced. It could have been a seriously good car, given its low weight (under 2500 pounds), powerful engine and all wheel drive. The rear end actually reminds me of the MG XPower SV a bit. And I don't get why it looks like a mid engine car when it's not mid engine.

P2 is a copy of the ralliart x1. It was made 2 years before the p2. Prodrive made the p2 on reaponse.
