Really appreciate your honesty in this video and I think you’re speaking for a LOT of musicians right now. We’re certainly at crossroad for humanity and the future is def uncertain, but sounds like you’re making the right choices for you and your family. We’ll all have to make those hard choices sooner or later 👍

Suno is the craziest generative ai for music, and it broke me.

This is not a negative talk, constructive and factual. The sad fact is, humans being humans, will take and use short cuts. For the hit of instant self gratification and being noticed by peers. Instead of working at the creative indevour, and doing the work. Being creative is a worth while indevour, but only when done with complete self integrity. And discipline. Which is half the fun of the experience anyway. AI has its place and function, I believe but not at the cost, of human expression in a creative indevour.

Great video my friend! Love the advice to just make the music you love. That’s the real key. It’s easy enough to stay away from the Great AI machine if you want to. Write for stage performers. Perform yourself. Compose for your own legacy and make recordings to put out to the world. I think we may sometimes live too much in the bubble of computer music/licensing. There are other outlets…and our own enjoyment and growth as musicians.

From someone who optimistically looks forward to all great things that AI will come to offer: AI can generate music but it can’t generate culture! UBI is looking all the more important as things continue to develop. That aside, I think it would be great if AI could create sample packs! It was the first thing that came to mind when trying out Suno AI. It wasn’t successful, and I haven’t looked further into it, but that would make for a great instance of AI as a tool!

Done and done! I'd love to start creating music myself, I'm still building everything I need to give it a go. I like to think it might help me mentally. I share your sentiments about AI. Companies will make huge money with it. It's moving at a scary pace. It'll come at a huge human cost though, as it'll take a huge amount of jobs away. Music quality will certainly improve quickly. I bought one of your tracks to help support your work. I personally only prefer genres like Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and a bit of Carbon Based Lifeforms too. I grew up with synth bands like Erasure, OMD, Depeche Mode etc, as I'm from the UK. Actually Vince Clarke did a bloody amazing album called Deeptronica, which I found quite recently by chance as an MP3 album. But the truth is that, EDM/trance or stuff with a fast tempo in the main is not something I buy/play. But, it's nice to support like-minded people. When I'm ready to buy Logic Pro, I will deffo buy some of your templates so I can see "before and after" music projects. It always amazes me when I hear stuff dry, and hear the wet version mixed with effects and how it is transformed. So, I find value in your tests and content. In future I'll deffo keep throwing a coffee your way. I don't stream music, I'm old school and prefer to convert real music CD's to 16bit 44.1 .flac files. I then create my own edits of the CD art that look better on 480x480 DAP screen lol. So, I really don't buy single tracks ever. I'll purchase a full CD. If it's rare, or the artist didn't produce many CD's - I might sink $11 in the album to download, instead of spending $30 on a used rare CD. I do own rare CD's, but that is a luxury. I'm more likely to do that for artists I'm heavily into. It's cool to support small independent artists, I like doing it. I also like prog metal too. So, I really prefer long tracks and albums as a result. Another reason I don't really buy short songs. But one thing AI won't do, is give people that sense of supporting an individual. So, all is not lost for musicians. I've found new small artists via RU-vid via their videos, which AI isn't really going to get people like me on board with. I guess I'm not really the "norm" in regards to marketing metrics, because I don't buy single tracks and don't stream. I don't really do social media either. I work part time to manage my mental health and live alone, so I'm quite frugal, as I have to be. It's why I'd buy a Mac Mini etc used and not new. So, I prefer to know of someone, before I buy music. I'll never get behind AI for music for that reason. I did buy EōN by Jean-Michel Jarre as an app - for morbid curiosity. But Jarre had a hand in that, and he benefited from my purchase. Lastly... I like to think that the knowledge you share on here, will see you rewarded over time. As you said, all of this is only feasible if you really enjoy doing it. I also would never be happy to churn out tracks really fast to build a library. It would feel like a pressured grind to me. Most big groups only release albums every 2.5/3 years, so it does help me support many different ones. What was the question again!! :P

ai music is sort of sad ... there was a program called" band in a box " that people felt the same way about . it will pass.. music will evolve pass it.. and talent always wins
