New Laptop 2024: DELL 7630 with i9 13900 HX 32 go ram Turbo mode project diva serum 44hz 512 buffer results : 63 tracks without CPU overload/// in 5 years maybe i will buy a mac pro or max with M4 or M5 because i have lots of ableton projects with only 25 tracks all VST like neural DSP and Toontrack EZ BASS, EZ KEYS , EZ DRUMMER, OZONE 11 on master and i am 75% CPU in 128 buffer or 60 % in 256 buffer, for recording too much latency for me i have to freezing some tracks with neural or cut Ozone 11 it take 15 % CPU
My 3900x is still serving me well. I edit video in that’s shot in 4k 10 bit. I just upgraded my ram to 64gb and got a 990 pro nvme and it’s running great now. Some tasks do load the CPU but it’s only for a short period so it’s barely noticeable. I have a rtx 3070 with workstation and it handles games well too. I think I’ll upgrade in a year or two. I may go intel for the extra cores.
I bought the M3 iMac 24' (Full Spec), when they released at end of October last year, for uni, but also with the intent of learning to use 3D Modelling/Printing software, video editing, and most importantly, music production programs such as Garage Band. Every time I see one of these "Can you do ......, on a base model MacBook Air?", I grow happier with the fact I didn't hold back when configuring my iMac at purchase, and that I opted to "Spec Out" the M3 iMac, instead of going for a lower end M3 Pro/Max chip in the MacBook Pro. Great Vid! 👍🏻 ✌🏻from🇦🇺
To everyone who is planing on buying this headphones, you can use this headphones for mix and mastering but only with EQ CORRECTION, otherwise its a big no, high end and seperation between mid and high frequencies will destroy your mix i am telling you this with experience, i have the 80ohms version end i am using a sound profile and they are good, my mixes sound good on every device. That's my honest review and real opinion about them.
Thanks for making the video about our dock! Hearing real user feedback like this and seeing how our docks get used in the real world helps shape our future products. Cheers!
Hey man, great video, is it appropriate for me to mix just using teamviewers? I mean, is it the audio quality good enough to remotely mix (with my earphones of course)? Or should I use another program like listento, for example?
I also use TS4 and daily switch between M1Pro MBP and Lenovo work pc and it used to work lika a charm but not anymore. I have to reconnect multiple times every time I switch. Have you experienced anything like this?
@infriad Hey, sorry to hear that! Here's a couple things you can try to help alleviate this behavior: First, power cycle your dock. You can do this by disconnecting it from wall power for 30-45 seconds before plugging it back in. This gives the dock time to fully discharge and restart fresh, which can shed intermittent misbehaviors the dock may be exhibiting. Second, try swapping out the Thunderbolt cable for a different Thunderbolt cable. We always recommend using the included CalDigit Thunderbolt cable to ensure proper compatibility, so try that if you're not already. Generally, Thunderbolt cables are tested and rated for extended use, including plugging and unplugging, but cables are still cables can be damaged, which can introduce misbehaviors like this. If you don't have ready access to a different Thunderbolt cable, you can also temporarily test with a USB-C cable to see if this clears up the behavior, though the dock's performance will be diminished with this kind of cable, so we recommend swapping back in the Thunderbolt cable even if the USB-C cable fixes the issue, at least until you can get a replacement Thunderbolt cable. If the faulty cable is one of ours, our support team can help warranty you a new one. Beyond this (or if our cable turns out to be faulty), I recommend you get in touch with our support team for additional diagnosis and troubleshooting. When you reach out, let them know the steps you tried here and that Dalton (that's me) instructed you to try them - this could help expedite your support experience. You can best reach our support team via email at Support@CalDigit.com
Very helpful video! Quick question - when you disconnect your MacBook, do you have any issues with external SSDs or Time Machine if you don’t eject the disks or power down before disconnecting? Thanks again!
Is the 13 inch screen large enough for comfortably using Logic? I don't want to get a 16 inch MBP, it's way too chunky, but I am considering a 14 inch MBP.
Mine died completely just after 700 cycles It can't even hold charge for 2 minutes The weird part was not too long above 60% but degraded so fast I mean in a matter of days.
I became huge fan of AMD under Lisa SU's leadership with the 2700x. They really upped the computing power the general consumer could have and FORCED Intel to start being competitive again. 3950x, 5950x, 7950x and now next month - 9950x. Long may it continue. It's clear they're working very hard and continue to push. I'm a big fan of companies like this. SpaceX, DJI etc.
Hello Bjornar, i need a good piece of advice: I work with logic pro and I want to get a new apple machine... which one should i get? mac mini m2 pro, mac air or .... it is so hard for me to choose - I am someone who doesn´t the best or the most expensive .. you know what I mean ... thank you so much!!!! Greetings from Tyrol, Joe
with 11 or 12 using 8 tracks ryzen 5th gen in mini pc form factor is fine if you keep your workflow limited to max for live plugins there is no issues i play live several times a month with push 2 this is much faster than push 3 stand alone 😎
For me most important thing is the software & plugins with the hardware is completely stable, no crash, no spikes (if work on recording). Hardware capability is easier to handle nowadays. So I think music people will like the hardware which goes through slow changes so the software will catch up easier. Less changes means more stable.
Yo bro, awesome stuff. I really like your thoughts on things 😀. I myself currently have my RiG with an X670E AORUS MASTER rev.1.x Mobo BIOS F30 - latest version + a Ryzen 7950X3D with a 420mm AIO ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III ARGB with KingPin KPx thermal paste + 128GB RAM 4x 32GB G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB White 6400MHz CL32-39-39-102 1.40V XMP running at BIOS default speed of 3600MHz CL30-30-30-58-88 1T + a PowerColor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil Limited Edition VideoCard and a 1250W Fully Modular PSU Segotep model GP1350G + 4x M.2 NVMe SSDs one of which is a 2TB Crucial T705 with 14500MB/s read and 12700MB/s write speeds all in a COOLER MASTER COSMOS C700M Full Tower Case. And i'm planning and hoping to save up for a flagship X870E AORUS XTREME Mobo and after that when the Ryzen 9950X3D comes out, to get it. I'm a Desktop PC Enthusiast and i'm super excited and can't wait for this Epic Hardware stuff. 😍 🤓😀🤣
#LIKESUBSCRIBEICECREAMHOLIDAYSAMDINVIDAETCETC... :) It won't be a cheap upgrade, but as you say - it's nice they still have long term plans to retain socket support - which will help them sell more long term. I'll see how good performance goes before I upgrade from my 7xxx CPU. For some models, the numbering seems to show a new CPU - but the changes aren't massive. Let's hope they've tuned them well. A good BIOS will help mitigate issues too.
Got a lightly used founders 2080 ti. Thought it wouldn’t need a repaste but when I did it make an almost 10deg difference. But now I have an aio on it and it stays around 64c when gaming
@@bjornark So what you're seeing is the pump out affect which happens more with GPU due to high hot spot, imo, don't use the none thick paste - stick to high viscosity, also most paste will dry over most time so phase change paste is the new thing, but hard to find a genuine one at that. I'm thinking about risking to put more thermal pad around the die, so keep that part of metal plate cooler to allow better flow so the die can transfer more heat quickily; it's all about heat flow speed (I use the analogy, don't clog heat like clogging the toilet).
Ive had mine for two years now, max 4 multitrack recording so far but i want to upgrade to 10+ track interface to record simultaneously is that possible on the m2 air?
Hi. I have a question: would the base Air M3 work much better than the M1 in terms of numbers of tracks and layers? I'm between the base Air M1 and Air M3, both the base models, and of course the M3 is twice the price of the M1.
I havent tested the M3 air myself. However Apple says that the M3 MacBook Air is about 35% faster in compute compared to the M1 MacBook Air. How much that translates into actual tracks in music production is really hard to say. It really depends on workflow, plugins, DAWs etc.
This is the answer I got from Ableton when asking about utilising efficiency cores: Live attempts to schedule all audio threads on performance cores (P) to ensure consistent and predictable performance. You can read more about this in this section of our public KB article: Reducing the CPU load on macOS There are currently no plans to change this behavior in the foreseeable future. You may want to consider opting for a CPU that has a higher ratio of performance cores for improved performance.
Effects = Electronic Music!! :) Gr8 vid Bjørnar!! Glad you got time to test some new stuff in Logic 11. The new effects really do sound lovely, making it even better value. I was honestly thinking 11 would be a paid release tbh, with how long 10 was supported. It'll be interesting to see this WIP run on M1 for sure, as the Max will make light work of it. Who'd have thought a Sub37 would need more dirt/thump! :D BTW, out of interest... do you play the Sub37 to record MIDI to all tracks in the DAW regardless of whether it's a native Sub37 part/or section for a soft-synth? Or do you have a different workflow to enter the midi data? Just morbid curiosity on my part... Also - one last question if I may. I know the Sub37 is a mono synth, but as a midi controller, is chord MIDI data sent from it regardless. I appreciate the analogue architecture means you can't hear full chords play live, but I wonder if all MIDI you play is sent from the keys regardless... if I have to guess, I think it might send chord MIDI data regardless. Nice track btw...
Thanks! Effects and automation is what makes things come alive! I usually draw in my MIDI notes, I am not that big of a keyboard player. However if I wanted, the Moog could be used as a midi keyboard if I understand your question. And yes, it would be polyphonic as a MIDI controller that is. :)
@@bjornark As a non-musician at present, I'm always blown away with the wet/dry differences from the demo's you include. On this track, I think the effects on the bass just make it fit the track better too. Thanks for your replies as always. I had a feeling it would send all MIDI without a limit. Also had a feeling you would draw MIDI in your projects too. I'd never be a keyboard player either. I guess if you start making music by drawing MIDI, it often just becomes the preferred way - regardless of whether you buy a hardware synth or not. :)
@@WeDoLoveU I was meaning for Bjørnar it is a free upgrade, as it's free to Mac Logic Pro 10 users... as my conversation was with him, I was talk to him specifically cheers
Yes. I returned the original one to Apple for a full refund. And I found another discounted (the same model) at another retailer. A customer who had returned it. I got it for a pretty hefty discount compared to buying it directly from Apple.
is there any way to test whether multiple instances of Kontakt can use more than 16 cores? For example a 64 core threadripper does Kontakt use all the cores or jam everything into the first 16 on ALL instances? Thanks for the videos
