2:19 bruh when i first heard untitled 2 it was like 2am day it came out n i was tryna to listen queitly n shit but that drop came n i woke the whole house up GET GOD ON DA PHOOONE!!!!!!!!!
Untitled 02 first listen is a time I will never forget. Someone told me at school it was crazy and I came home and could not believe what I was fucking hearing.
The thing about Kendrick is that you can say that you don't like certain songs but you can't call the songs wack either. It's an acquired taste. Whether it's a sound that you're accustomed to or not, Kendrick puts out nothing but well polished and introspective music with carefully crafted instrumentation. Despite it essentially being throwaway tracks and demos I'd still give it a solid 8/10. I definitely see myself listening to this well into 2016.
I'd agree with that. It took me about four spins to really dig Section.80, but afterwards everything made more sense. Even if I'm not into a track, I'm still buying the album just to see where it fits.
Chris Alderson I think he was talking more about this album and To Pimp a Butterfly because of the amount live jazz instrumentals in the albums. Most people can really enjoy section.80 first time because it's not as jazz and funk influenced as TPAB which, what i've noticed, takes people a while to get into and really enjoy. So I think you're case of taking 4 spins top get into section.80 was an anomaly as it is an album that can be enjoyed by hip hop heads first time round.
+BVNDOO entirely possible. I guess I go into new K.Dot knowing that there's a grand concept behind it, therefore making it easier to really like. I was unaware of there being a concept behind Section.80, which is why I guess it took me a minute to get it. To each his own though.
Well said. I've been listening to jazz since I can remember hearing. Still play the sax. and Kendrick's my favorite rapper by far because of his jazz. People listen to trap music and call this annoying... OK.
I'M SO PROUD OF QUINT'S REACTION TO TRACK 2!!! LMFAO it's my favorite song on the project and i litterly played that exact song over like 5 times in a row on my first reaction before I could move on to track 3 lol
It really helps if you think of these songs in the context of TPAB. People try and take this as a standalone. I would love someone to do what they did to Radiohead with In Rainbows and OK Computer, and put these songs into the Tracklist for TPAB and make them all fit. I think it could be easily done. All of these tracks are fucking dope, Kendrick made a record of just neo-soul, jazz, and funk beats, then he drops this shit and reminds everyone that he still better at rapping over trap beats.
untitled 7 was so trap but at the same time it wasnt. man it was a murderous beat. and untitled 2 was "jazz fusion with that trap music" damn. swizz beatz and kendrick is a nice duo
Quint these tracks are throwaway tracks from TPAB, so it's not a real studio album, it's just 2nd-tier TPAB tracks that were cut, so don't treat it like an album or something serious or really part of Kendrick's discography because kendrick didn't really have to release this, everyone has cut tracks
Fantano listens to the album several times to understand everything in it and then writes a long review and then records him reading the review. Quint listens to it once. Stop trying to compare these completely different RU-vidrs.
Forgot all about this album/mixtape I immediately came back to this video for Bigs reaction mirroring how I felt when this came out! Putting this back on repeat
Quint you actually deserve your own show. To hell with a RU-vid channel. Keep bringing the excitement these other boring youtubers don't. Man Kendrick is in the zone. As an Outkast fan I saw the influence on Section 80. Man that Ceelo track was on point.
the fist blood was unscripted as well as the glass breaking he was really bleeding and he had to get stitches which makes it even better he stuck with it
If I had to rank his projects based on my personal sound tastes: 1. GKMC 2. S80 3. UU 4. tKL EP 5. TPAB 6. OD Ranked based on Lyrics IMO 1. TPAB 2. GKMC 3. UU 4. S80 5. t KL EP 6. OD Composite Ranking 1. GKMC 2. TPAB 3. S80 4. UU 5. t KL EP 6. OD
Listen to every word that Kendrick says on the album, heck listen to the album as a whole before you deem it a 'L'. It has a ton of meaning behind it, his struggles as a Christian in a world full of vices, the apocalypse itself..so many stories and morals. Meaning is what makes the album great, not the production. Open your ears.
I know it's an older album, but it definitely needs more popularity, "Dreaming With Our Eyes Open" By Witt Lowry. IMO one of the most under the radar rappers out there.
