That black Chevy would still have a decent dent there. Also understand inflation means equivalent costs in 1949 would be much higher today. Not to mention I've been in a similar incident with a car from 2008. Just popped out the dent in the plastic and it was good as new. Plastic may break easier, but it's much cheaper to produce and replace, meaning so long as the body itself is okay, a bumper is pretty cheap to repair.
I think Kaisers were surprisingly common at that time, but they got scrapped mercilessly in the following years due to the maker leaving the market, therefore making the K-F range orphans.
That was before the movie industry was subverted. Back then, film was often used to advance education and morals, instead of degrading it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bX3EZCVj2XA.html
how about we adopt the simplest explanation ? microphones were worse back then, so were speakers . maybe they had to speak loud and clear do be heard. but i am not a native English speaker so there may be something i don't hear
There were no I'M LIKE or SHE'S LIKE or HE'S LIKE... what the f**k happened???...and who the hell are they LIKE? One thing though, they are NOT like me!!!
Intriguing due to its unexpectedly compassionate view of both the parents and the children, meant to guide them through difficulties in communication and understanding. I did not expect that outcome, though I am sure that despite the fictional scenario ending on a relatively positive note, there were undoubtedly further and likely legal repercussion for Bill. Overall, it seems a very balanced and reasonable scenario.
6:35 That looks like a rare and cool-looking GM B or C-body fastback; I think they only made them in '49 and '50. But why do the lugnuts turn backwards, not to mention the fact that they are barely tightening them.
All GM wheels I know of in the 40s were reverse thread. I'm not sure why but it made things confusing considering everything else was standard righty tighty lefty loosy lol
That garage door they don't build homes like that anymore. I had that kind of garage in my Florida home. There was a lot of great things about 70 years ago and there was a lot of bad things about 70 years ago. The drinking in the driving was a terrible problem. No seatbelts no collapsible steering that was a terrible problem the price of long distance telephone calls that was a terrible problem. The intolerance of the bisexual and gay young men was a terrible problem. The teaching of the hatred of the Russian people that was a terrible problem. We've come a long way but we're not there yet.
After production of this film, half the actors tested for cocaine use, mirrors from all over the set were missing. If it wasn’t for an astute gumshoe, this still would have baffled viewers today.
In the sequel, we see Billy getting the stuffing beat out of him, first by his "friend" whom he framed, then by dad, because it's 1949. I usually enjoy those old films, but I felt like I needed a LOT of wine with THIS cheese platter... The boy is lucky that they didn't make him "volunteer" for the local Catholic priest. They're alleged to be experts in bump and silence.... that'd teach Billy to watch what's behind him.
Religious experience or Crock of $hit? You be the judge. I think an extremely high cholesterol diet and rigorous exercise will get that father on the right path.
