Well said Aamir...actually I watched that match and told my father that Aamir is trying to play with Prasad’s mind and that the game was on edge. I feel that you thought Prasad will bowl a short one again but he bowled a well disguised slower length delivery. Hats off to you that you tried that in such an intense match, your intention was to win the match. None of the current Pak batsmen have this guts to do in a normal cricket match forget the QF of the World Cup.

This guy is giving 15 minutes of explanation full of lies. It was evident for all to see that he got too arrogant. Prasad was bowling badly- no pace, no help from the pitch. There was no need to needle him to affect his line like Sohail is claiming. Bullshit. He was trying to be arrogant and he lost his wicket foolishly. Now he is trying to act wise. What an ass.

As an Indian we have great respect for Aamir Sohail. Aamir you were destructive batsman in Pak side. Those 90`s will never be forgotten without you. Great Batsman with great mind, you dominated the bowlers. I remember the 1996 WC, match with India, your wicket was one of the important wickets which Prasad took. That sensed India victory. Because you both Anwar & Sohail going 5.7 R/O. Love to watch your cricket Aamir sir. Even your innings against Australia, India, Zimbabwe in 1992 WC were beautiful batting. Thank you for entertaining the world sir.

Mohtaram Aamir Sohail Sir !!! Mujh sey zyada barra fan aap ka dunya mey koiy nahi ho ga. I became your die hard fan after your quarter final innings of 55(46) on 9th of March 1996, the day was saturday. The demanding circumstances, the challenging situation, humongous total to chase, that immense pressure, antagonistic crowd, that Pakistan-India rivalry, & that epic, valiant innings of yours in the face of adversary, that undaunted chivalry, that manly demeanor, what an unprecedented display of class & aggression, you earned my undying admiration & the eulogies of Amir Sohail were abound in the length and breadth of Pakistan even though we lost the match. I always thought you could've easily made a century in that match & you fell only to your bravado. But now since you've explained the situation very well, we can understand that it was the need of the moment and not the heat of the moment. You were doing it for Pakistan & not for yourself. A few months after this match, you came to Peshawer & a cousin of mine asked you about why we lost that match. You replied to him "ye uss Gan*** sey poocho". That cousin of mine didn't know what "Gan***" means. Thanks God he didn't ask you. He rather asked me afterwards, what is meant by "Gan***". I laughed for like half an hour & then told him what is meant by "Gan***". It meant Wasim Akram :p

@Saqib we have had our share of misfortunes. It finally boils down to the political scenario that exists between the two countries. There is no imminent hope but then the scene will not get better before some contentious issues are put to rest. The latest issue is that some of the cricketing greats have started to make irresponsible political statements to initiate or jump start their political careers. This is not doing much good for the game. When I said hate and jealousy I skipped fear as many would construe it as a fear in the players. It was a fear among the spectators and ardent fans

I have seen that match, you and Saeed Anwar played very well and gave a good start. I loved the crowd silence. Nobody stayed on the wicket afterwards. Win converted to defeat.

Good Evening Aamir Sir, Thank you for explaining the entire psychy of a batsman in sledging a bowler (rare on those days- remember Javed Miandad used to sledge bowlers) which requires a great courage & mental balance to come back and refocus on the point of release. Late Sir Bob Woolmer had mentioned that its a tough call to challenge the bowler & focus back. As any batter gets less than 500ms facing anything above 135km/Hr. If you can reply my question even in short, i will be happy. How could you able to retain your focus even after sledging the bowlers? I mean your mind balance. Regards, Pujan Ghosh (cricket coach)

Loved this long overdue explanation of the events that took place in the match. No one player can be blamed for that loss, Ijaz , Inzamam and SM did not do their part. Please also talk about the last years of your career . You weren't as attacking in your last couple of years. Why was that?

Mad respect for this guy and Saeed Anwar. Those first 10 overs were such pain to watch. Takes a lot of guts to speak about such incidents. Salute. Towards the end, I recall Rashid also got in the groove.

I have always thought of you as a brave cricketer who took on the challenge and performed under pressure. I remember two of your aggressive innings against India. One from the '96 WC quarterfinal and the other while chasing 300+ when India achieved that mark for the first time in Sharjah. You looked ominous both times taking Pakistan off to quick starts. I also appreciate your honesty about the tactic sir. It was a calculated gamble that had worked before but didn't pay off that one time against Venkatesh Prasad.
