Honestly I love the 60’s 70’sand 80’s homes so much better than the newer homes. They are cozier than newer homes. Thank you for bringing these homes so we can enjoy them.

The second desk you found in the basement had a storage compartment for a typewriter so you could open it for work, and then close the desk at night. They were quite common in offices of the time.

Ah thanks for explaining that. Pity modern desks can’t hide computer monitors when you need the flat surface!

The first one was lovingly maintained all of those years. We have a lot of these split levels where I am in Ohio...they are my favorite homes. I'd take one of these over a new McMansion any day. I can't believe how close you are to that magical 100k. So happy to be here and still enjoying your videos since before the start when you just popped up in Carlo's.

Split level homes are my favorite style too. It feels like the adventure never ends, even when you live there. You’re always “exploring” different levels. The cold cellars are sooo practical! I think a lot of people may start wishing they had them now.

You would be a great architect or a realtor, Ethan. Your enthusiasm, respect and appreciation for every single detail is impressive. I love your videos! Always enjoyable! I love this style of house-all that tile throughout the first house is pretty wild though! 😎 The second house was nicely updated, even though the color choices were a little boring. Both were nice homes. Too bad they had to be torn down. Thanks for the tours!

Always love this era of homes. First one seemed to gave a bit more personality with wallpapers and paint colors. Love all the brick fireplaces and cool floor tiles and those always awesome period light fixtures. Can’t imagine what these fine brick houses are being sacrificed for. Seemed like they would have seen fun times. Wow 99.8k subscribers! Any day now Ethan. Take care keep well and be safe.

I want the first house as is. Tell the crew to back off. This place is priceless. Worth more than the crappy new builds. We had an oak desk that when lifted held the typewriter. Salvage as much as possible. I like both places. Nothing boring about the layouts of both. I get a kick out of when you see those funky tiles. It was normal then because it was a creative and expressive time. I feel sorry for kids today growing up in grey tones and monochromatic blandness. Thanks for making this video. Hope you got some pictures for documentation.

When we bought our 70s ranch in 2006, it had the exact chandelier in the dining room. We bought our house from my husband's family's estate (to downsize after our kids left home), when my Father-in-law passed away. He and my mother-in-law built the home in 1976. My MIL died a year-and-a-half later and my FIL never changed anything in the 30 years he lived there.

Prime examples of the endless array of patterns of tiles, wall coverings that really let one's personal tastes and style shine through! Funky cool! I would bet also that the first house was most likely a lifetime owner, something that always seems incredible and special. I'm not 💯 sure that kitchen was '70s though, they just didn't seem to blend with the rest of the house or with cabinetry, they seemed more like 80s home improvement store style, but in any case, that kind has never appealed to me. I thought the second house was great, the basement bar with the orange was super cool! Great explore! ✌️

I said it before. You should get you license to Salvage. You could save or rescue a lot of vintage items and architecture and decor. You resell some items to people who are restoring their homes. Or you could repurpose some items and sell them. You don't have to do it yourself. You could hire people to do it for you. Maybe not right away but over time you could build a profitable business.

The epitome of the 1970s, a swag lamp in the kitchen, the Swedish ball was possibly a replacement for a pendulum style shade and swag lamp in the bathroom, circa 1972 or so. I think you are right , one careful owner. it is like a time warp in there. Second home, much more utilitarian, except for the bar with the orange laminate counter. cool Ethan.

would be kewl, if they would let you or someone that loves the 1970's aesthetic as much as we do, come in and carefully remove all that beautiful tile, and everything else 1970's in there before it ends up in a pile of rubble. maybe for a small fee, if their going to destroy it with the house. tho don't really know any way to remove wall paper, especially that old, without tearing it, maybe with some sort of steamer?, a very gentle hand and a lot of patience . . . .
