"Unused" Eeveelutions in Scrapped X and Y

I still believe this is true. I hope Gamefreak reuses these eevee form ideas for legends. There’s so many great beta Pokemon that I hope return one day.

I remember once hearing, and note this was a while ago around the release of Sword and Shield; that Game Freak originally didn't know what faeries were to the western world and originally relied on modern "cutesy" ideas, think Walt Disney, before they delve deeper and realized that the west's faeries were similar to their yokai or that they had served similar roles in folktales and were a very broad and untidy category. Hence why we started seeing actual fae creatures like the Impadimp and Tinkatink lines and Hatterene, while retaining their original ideas of fairy types being cutesy.

Dude, just for reference the Fairy type in Italian is called Folletto, and not Fata, the literal translation of Fairy in English. Folletto is a fairy-tale being of popular tradition, small and cunning, magically operating to the detriment or advantage of man, whereas Fata is an imaginary creature in the form of a very small (often winged) human, with magical powers, a pixie. That is why the majority of fairy-type pokémon is not winged, fairy-like, because they look more like the variety of creatures you could find in Fairy-Tales.

If the theory is correct about the upside evolution in gen 2, hitmontop is probably a good candidate for evolving this way.

The size and weight thing was always played with. I think all the way back to gen 3. I remember catching fish to beat a fishermans record. Pokemon has been toying around with type balancing way longer. They really started implementing them at gen 5. They probably looked at the type chart and how dragons were not just powerful but also very defensive. Dragons were always meant to be that though. Like dragons in dragon quest are tough and in any fantasy setting you naturally put dragons in this mythical or legendary tier of creatures cause of how dinosaur like and big youd think one is. Especially if youve ever seen a full dinosaur skeleton up close. Its why a the gen 4 creation trio are all dragons. In gen 5 with its themes it makes sense for the apex to be dragons and why they are so rare to encounter to begin with. Also like you can say the pseudo legendary pokemon have like a sub category of dragon types. Its hard to tell when they come up with themes to their games. But i think the idea to create a whole knew typing came from the theme of XY. Probably riding off the theme from gen 5. Cause they wanted another gray concept of life, death and immortality. If you were to be immortal, youd wish where you would live to be good and not dying around you. They upped that fantastical notion by thinking of what would represent life and death in pokemon. Sure they could have given the life pokemon the psychic typing. Since the idea of espers has a lot to it that would fit the category. Dark type just fits yveltal well, so with the whole norse mytholgy in mind they settled for xerneas;s design and with the whole fantasy aspect, it made sense that they needed more of a kick to Xerneas. With them thinking of balancing the game, they thought to make the fairy type because everything sounds like its out from a fairy tale. The initial thought most likely was to counter yveltal and dragons, since dragons were so powerful. As for weaknesses they just chose what is most seen as antagonistic in fairy tales in general. Thats why fire types affect it thatway. Also its pretty often that dragons kidmap princesses and are often like the antagonists in fairy tales. Hence why outright calling them Fairy. So i say Xerneas was the first proper fairy pokemon.

I know a lot of people want a Dragon-type Eeveelution, and I understand why, I'd like that too. But even more, I'd like a Poison-type and a Ground-type Eeveelution to complete the circle. All Eeveelutions are strong and weak against at least one of the other Eeveelution. The only exception is Volteon, Espeon and Sylveon. Jolteon is strong againt Vaporeon, but not weak to any Eeveelution. On the other side of the coin, Espeon is weak to Umbreon but no strong against another while Sylveon is strong against Umbreon, but not weak to any. And everytime Eeveelutions has been released in pairs one has been strong against the other. So the best pair to release to close this cycle is Ground and Poison, as not only is Poison weak to Ground, but with these two, Jolteon and Sylveon will have an Eeveelution they are weak to, while Espeon will get one it's strong to. This might sound like a ridiculous reason, but I'd like to have that.

For reference of what Hawlucha could have looked like look based on the "leak" have a look at Tizoc from SNK's Fatal Fury games.

Drakeon, Spectreon, Aereon, Insecteon, Brawleon, Toxeon, Metaleon, Stoneon, Eartheon. All these Eevee names you could possibly give to another Eeveelution with those unused types.

I hope the Fairy pokemon become more mystical creatures. Maybe a fairy pikuchu evo based on the unused third evolution.

X and Y gave Hydreigon its 4x weakness thanks to the Fairy type. In its debut generation, Hydreigon didn’t have any 4x weaknesses. *correct me if I’m wrong

The ribbons as a fairy type thing makes sense to me if you consider fairy to be a substitute word for a holy/light type, as a counterpart for the dark/evil type. Ribbons, as any magical girl anime fan knows, are strongly associated with magical girls and therefore the light type. Or at least this is the first thing I thought of when the first Fairy type move they revealed was Moon Blast, a move that sounds right out of Sailor Moon.

It's all useful info in the end as obvious as some of it is, because it's pointing out direct thought processes behind weird things like why Zygarde got a back seat and why Diancie isn't fully related to carbink in game. I believe most of what was there, especially the Sylveon workshopping with how big of a deal they made it's dabut tied to the type as opposed to something like Floette that's heavily tied to the story, and the fact that almost all the qualities of fairy typing lean towards type balancing and they took it a bit too far haha.

Imagine Eevee getting terapagos new type as Eevee. Where Eevee can learn any move regardless of type, with a protean type ability so it gets STAB boost no matter what

I'm still surprised that we're 9 generations of Pokémon, and yet we still haven't seen Eevee receive an evolution for every Pokémon Type. And I think the perfect opportunity to give Eevee an evolution for every type is to use the moves seen in Let's Go Eevee. Have Eevee learn one of those Eevee exclusive moves, level it up, and it evolves into a Pokémon that's basically an Eevee with a different type.

Ahhhh sylveon , the single pokemon responsible for making steel and poison much more viable . X/Y made me appreciate steel types so much i now run them . That moment when seeing my friends face, when his entire team of dragons lost to a flesh ribbon fox just for me to one shot it with a heavy slam aggron. I can say i do still think ice should be a weakness to fairy , winter and snow tend to kill off nature and fairies typically need nature for their powers to work.

When SV was announced in 2022, I speculated its been 9 years since X and Y games, will Eevee gets a new evolution in Gen 9, if so, it will be the 9th Eevolution.

I really like how XY and ORAS have themes of genetics and (gem)stones. Its feels cool, but also kind of ironic.

The Goomy line should have been Dragon/Poision type. A lot of the Pokédex entries talk about how it’s goo is acidic and can dissolve things, PLUS I feel like the pseudo-legendary of the generation that introduced fairy typing, should have been strong against it. Kind of a slap to the face to say “The pseudo of this gen is not only 2X weak to the new typing but none of its stab moves can even hit them”

The talk of Hawlucha's original design reminds me a bit of Betsumon from Digimon. It's a Digimon, but it looks like a creepy human cosplaying as a Digimon.

there is no unused Eevee evolutions. I don't know where this is coming from but Sylveon was the only evolution the company wanted for XY to be introduced. The "leaker" doesn't say the right things.

So to balance the limited number of dragon types pokemon where the majority were the pseudo of the gen gamefreak decided to oversaturate the fairy type. They screwed up imo, a lot of pokemon received the typing ruining game balance given the typing advantages that came with it. Mons like jigglypuff went from being weak to fighting types to clapping cheeks. I can understand adding clefairy but not many others. Should of just used the fairy type for the new pokemon of the gen or hell a pseudo to go with the eevee.

All that work for a single new eeveelution when Dragon, Ghost, Poison, and Steel are right there. We better get Dragon (non negotiable), either of those other types and maybe a Cosmic/Crystal/Time/Sound type GF. And make them stomp down fairys. Hawlucha's original desight was too humanoid and looked like a guy in a costume !!? as opposed to that fire rabbit you concocted afterwards, and then all the "mascot" mons Carbink legitimately evolving into Diancie confirmed. it was going to be the counterpart to Lucario. Loads of people thought that the Goomy line was going to be either part water, poison or fairy
