Hi guys! If you liked this one it’d be awesome if you gave it a thumbs up 😄 Sending loads of love from NYC where we’re filming a new series 😍 Cheers, Thomas & Sheena
Thanks so much mate- hos bulduk! We always love visiting Turkey- it’s a spectacular place. Hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena
It sure is! One of the most beautiful cities in the world we reckon! Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoy the rest of our Istanbul series mate. Cheers, Sheena
Thanks so much for your kind words mate! We always feel so welcome in Turkey- the hospitality is unparalleled! Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoy the rest of our Istanbul series! Cheers, Sheena
Oh, man....you knocked it out of the park on this one! The beef wrap/sandwich looked ok, but the cooking method and pan were really interesting. The sheep head was spectacular. All the various 'bits and bobs', and the seasonings looked amazing! You can tell that the chef/butcher has cracked into a good number of heads. For me, though the mezze meal was the show-stopper. That is my style of eating, and every dish looked so fresh, and well-prepared. Good food, friendly people, and a pretty and interesting city...I can see why you would want an extended stay there. If I'm ever able to travel again, Istanbul and Tokyo are vying for top of the list of places to go. If I never recover enough to travel, at least I can tag along virtually with the sweetest couple in the world.
☺️☺️☺️☺️ so happy to have you tag along until you can get to these places yourself MsKestrela- and even though we hope you continue to tag along 😍 oh gosh meze is just a wonderful way to eat- I love all the varying textures and flavours. That parsley salad was especially wonderful. Loved watching that sheep’s head getting broken down- gosh it was delicious. Thanks for watching and commenting- have a great rest of your week 😘 Cheers, Sheena
It’s the perfect ending to a meal! They are tea fanatics the Turks- we love just stopping for a cuppa a few times a day when we’re in Istanbul and watching the world go by. Cheers, Sheena

I really loved that you know quite good about what locals do. Especially, raki, hamsi fish, mezes combined with other see foods and enjoying it. And even shirdan, which even I as a Turk only tested it once in my life(it was only populer in Adana until recent years). Keep up the good work and I hope you enjoyed your visit in Turkey. I'll be looking forward for your jornies in other countries. Cheers!

Lordy, so glad you liked the roasted lambs head. Grew up eating them. Delicious with a squeeze of lemon. The puddings were interesting, see a future visit to Istanbul. That meze was incredible. Yes yes yes please talk about the marinated fish and the other dishes not shown. That juicy wrap and version in bread, broke me had to make a shredded steak sandwich for me and a wrap for River. Ummm don't judge added tinned anchovies to the mix. Happy travels. Another great vlog. Can't wait for your NY posts
Hi Rebecca! Lemon would have been perfect with that plate 🤤 oh gosh that meze was fantastic- loved that smoked fish- the yellow sauce was like a light mayo. Everything was just so tasty- the cabbage and silver beet was nice and tangy and that salad 😍 epic!! So happy you enjoyed this one- that sarnie sounds absolutely delicious! And anchovies in any form whoop!! Thanks for watching you two 😘 Cheers, Sheena
The wrap was excellent! Love all the street cats and dogs in Istanbul- they’re so well looked after by the locals 😄 hope you enjoyed this one 5cats 2kids! Thank you for watching! Cheers, Sheena
We love raki SO much! And meze! Well, just the entire Turkish food culture really 😍 Hope we can return soon. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, hope you like the rest of our Turkey videos. Cheers, Sheena
Thank you guys to representing the rich turkish cuisine! We had completely forgot to drank Boza at our last holidays! Thanks to reminding me 🥰 I wish you all the best for the future greetings from Germany! 😁
A big hello to you in Germany mate! Thanks for watching and commenting 😄 oh gosh boza is so tasty- we will definitely return for more when we’re back in Istanbul. Hope you get a taste of it soon too 🙌 hope you enjoy the rest of our Istanbul series mate. Cheers, Sheena
Oh, thank you very much! 😊 Yes of course, I’m still watching the videos. Food is love and I am absolutely overwhelmed with what a passion you both describe all these meals! Çok teşekkürler Chasing a Plate 🙌❤️!!!!
😍😍😍 we adore Turkey- Turkish hospitality is unparalleled- we always meet so many amazing people when we visit and filming there is such a joy. So happy you are enjoying our videos mate! 😄
First of all congrats you might be the first outlanders who can drink raki and like it. Also you did it right, most people dont like it because they drink it without pouring cold water and ice. Also it is not beer, it needs meze with it to drink. You should try Kalamar if you go there again as my favourite meze, and Kokorec in a good restaurant. Love your videos 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi zeyna casas, oh gosh raki and meze are a match made in heaven- we love it so much 😍 Mmm Kalamar, will definitely add it to the meze menu next time! Thanks for watching and commenting mate, so happy you are enjoying our Istanbul content. Cheers, Sheena
I love all of the colors of the mezze! I love how you introduce us to new cultures through food! My mouth is watering! lol IDK if I would be brave enough to try the roasted sheep head though! Love your videos guys, keep it upppppppp
Thanks so much for watching mate! Meze is the best 😄😍 hahaha that roasted sheep’s head was great- loved how we just sat in that butchers shop to eat it. Thanks for taking the time to comment, so glad you’re enjoying the content. Cheers, Sheena
watching this in 2020 and I wish I had come across your videos before I travelled to Turkey in 2019!! D-: but definitely heading back soon to check out all these awesome places
How amazing is Istanbul!? We love it there so much. We hope things are safe and you can get back there soon. So much great food. Thanks so much for watching this one. Cheers, Thomas 😀
😂 it’s so delicious! We loved it! Thanks for watching and commenting mate- hope you enjoyed this video and like the rest of our Istanbul series. Cheers, Sheena
Thanks so much mate! What a day of eating. We miss Turkey! We actually cooked a big Turkish kebab feast last night for our family. Brought back such great memories. Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoyed the rest of the series. Cheers, Sheena

Yes, coming from New Zealand, we are lucky with the exchange rate. It was great being able to stay in Istanbul for 2 months on this visit. We loved it! Mmmm kazandibi- it's so tasty! Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoyed this video. Cheers, Sheena
That sheeps head experience was so unusual and l cant help but think why? But hey why not!! I love the concept of eating in a Butcher's shop, who better to know meat than the experts themselves. You can have my plate of chicken milk pudding that one messes with my head, although it looked beautiful and fluffy. The star of the vid has got to be the Meze! And how much Sheenas face lit up with the word "Drink" 🤣. No BS from you guys you do love Meze as seen by your at home meals in Lockdown in NZ. Stunning selection of dishes, colours, textures and the Anchovies! That was a show stopper. 👍
Gosh both the sheep’s heads we had in Istanbul were brilliant we were so glad we were there for a number of weeks so we could go back again after filming for these meals again. The mezze also was the best. Again we managed to make it back there for another meal after filming. Such a great spread. The pudding has no chicken taste at all. Just tastes like a milk pudding. Very yum. I really like the burnt top. Can’t get enough of that style of pudding when we’re in Istanbul (lots of very similar ones with chicken can be found also). Thanks for the support and thanks for watching this one! Cheers, Thomas 😀
Kazandibi is actually just a milk pudding with a crust. The one with chicken is called tavukgöğsü (chicken breast) and doesn't have a burnt crust. But maybe the Lokanta where you were combined the two desserts😄
Hi Yunus Urhan, thanks for watching and commenting! Back in the Ottoman era the palace kitchens made kazandibi with chicken breast as it was the bottom of the pan used to make tavukgogsu 😄 this lokanta uses a super traditional recipe and follows that history 😄 Hope you enjoyed this video! Cheers, Sheena
Small correction the chicken puddings name is not "kazandibi" but "tavuk gögüsü" the name tavuk gögüsü means literary chicken breast. Kazandibi is a variation of puddings you can order. Kazan dibi can be translated as the "bottom of the pot". The bottom part of the pot means that it will be caramelized after it's made. Therefore the chicken breast pudding has a brown color on top. When I order mine I order it the regular way (plain white) with cinnamon on top of it. By the way it's a great video.
Awesome information, thanks so much 😍 It was such a delicious pudding! Can’t wait to return to Turkey one day soon to eat more of it! Thanks for watching 😍 Cheers, Sheena
😆😆😆😍😍😍 we make ourselves hungry just replying to the comments and thinking about what we ate haha. Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena
Thank you so much Mustafa Semerci! We always feel so welcome in your beautiful country. Turks are such welcoming and hospitable people. Hope you enjoy our Istanbul series! Thanks for watching and commenting 😄 Cheers, Sheena
I can see how you guys enjoy it when you first try any food and the way you tell makes me feel a damn appetite :). I like to watch you. I can tell, you made a hell of a research before starting to explore. Respects. Btw the best season for hamsi is the period between December and March. Best time is the coldest waters.
Thanks so much for watching Serhat Demir and for your kind words! Gosh we love exploring Turkish cuisine- we always eat so well when we visit. I’m desperate to get there during actual hamsi season- I’d eat them every day 😆 Hope you enjoy the rest of our videos mate. Cheers, Sheena
Turkish make the best street food and they're the best barbers, Great idea for a restaurant! Order your food get a haircut and shave while its being cooked, sit down to eat a chicken kebab after, finished with tea! Genius! lol
As a turkish, I was so suprised you tried sheep head, tongue and cheeks. Not many turkish ppl like those. The smeel to me is just horrible so I never tried eating it. Seriosly did you like it or just being kind to not to offend us :D kokoreç and tantuni is awesome though. Hope you enjoyed your stay.
Hi theasdazx, thanks for watching and commenting! We seriously like sheep's head- and cow's head for that matter- we're eating a lot of it in Mexico at the moment 😀 But if we had to choose we'd take kelle sogus over kelle tandir- we love the cleaner flavour. Hope you enjoy our other Istanbul videos mate. Cheers, Sheena
🇹🇷🇹🇷 welcome to TURKEY. Very good Turkish series. Im from Turkey, and my city is Antalya. Please come to Antalya. Yes, İstanbul better, İstanbul is our honor , our city, our heartz. But Antalya too good. Here too delicions. Antalya capital of holiday in the TURKEY. Thanks for videos. ))))
Thank you so much Birol Yazar! We’re so happy you enjoyed it 😄 we would love to visit Antalya one day- we bet the food is fantastic! Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Thanks for your lovely words mate! We always have an amazing time in Turkey- the food culture is incredible. Hope you enjoyed this video. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
😄😄😄😂😂😂 we love giving everything a go. Kelle is one of my faves- especially when it’s served cold and boiled. Thanks for watching and commenting AA O, hope you’re enjoying our series. Cheers, Sheena
Watching this in late night is not the best idea, i'm dying now... You guys killed me with the cheek meat. Also i'm sure you guys had "köfte" - meatball before. But, if you guys want to try it again, you should look for the places that makes köfte with cheek meat in it. Its not that common anymore since it became like-fastfood, but there are some places still make köfte with cheek meat in it. Its the classical way or classical recipe. Its way more juicy and soft.
😍😍😍😍😍 no way! How come we have never heard of this magic??!! 😆 we both love cheek meat so that kind of köfte would be right up our alley! We’ll definitely search for it the next time we’re in town. Thanks for the heads up mate! Hope you enjoyed this series, thanks for watching and commenting 😄 Cheers, Sheena
How fabulous Sonia! Hope you had a wonderful time 😍 thanks for watching and commenting, gosh that sheep’s head was memorable- that meat was melt in your mouth! Cheers, Sheena
I love the way you are detailing the food. By the way, I am Turkish and I still am hesitant about eating brain! :) Yet, I believe one day I will try it and I will curse myself not eating it earlier.
Hi Sinny Awesome, thanks for watching and for your lovely words. I reckon brain is the one offal that people find the hardest to eat. When it's cooked well it's delicious but if it's cooked badly it's terrible 😆 Hope you get to try a delicious version one day mate. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Cheers, Sheena
Funny first bite into that delicious looking tantuni sandwich, which really reminds us of our local new Orleans PoBoy but with a nice Turkish twist. Amazing how you made that sheep's head look tasty 😬 Never seen these milk pudding dishes! Loving how you guys are going so deep into this Turkish foodie culture!!! I almost feel stuffed just watching all these dishes being served at the end. Best, James and Kim
😆😆😆😆 thanks for your lovely words James and Kim! Oh gosh that sheep’s head was great- in fact everything was! We love a good PoBoy- YUM!! So happy you are enjoying the series guys. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers, Sheena
Thanks so much for the kind words guys. The sheep’s head was so good. Totally worth a go if you get a chance 😀 Hope you travels are going well! - Thomas 😀
If you fell into the mighty pit of melon and cheese, try watermelon and cheese the same way for the next time. That one doesn't necessarily have to be with rakı, mostly we just have it pretty much anytime during summer.
@@ChasingaPlate Actually this seems and feels like the only decent and sincere channel promoting our food because you guys seem pretty enthusiastic about anything you try. Even most Turks can't lay this down the way you did haha!
Mehmet Ziya Aypar what a lovely comment to receive- thanks so much mate! We genuinely love exploring a country’s food culture and sharing it with our audience. It’s such a pleasure to do so in Turkey- Turkish hospitality is unparalleled and the food culture is phenomenal 😍 hope you like what we have coming up on the channel. Cheers, Sheena
Having had both I have to agree that boiled is the way to go! We filmed it in another video and then went back for it twice more! Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoyed this one 😄 Cheers, Sheena
Am I the only one who is slightly disturbed from the fact that they don't use gloves? 🤣 Amazing job, love your videos! P.s. you should try watermelon + feta. Amazing combo (kisses from Greece 🇬🇷)
Hi Katerina Fot., thanks so much for watching and commenting mate. So glad you enjoyed this one. Mmmm I can totally imagine watermelon and feta being a magic combination. Ha, no gloves is far more common than gloves wherever we are filming in the world 😄😆 Cheers, Sheena
You can do a taste test John as the cold boiled sheep’s head is only a few steps away from the roasted one 😄 thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena
😍😍😍😍 thanks for the lovely message Robert Bl! So happy you enjoyed this one. It was a blast filming this series. Thanks for watching and commenting 😄 Cheers, Sheena
Another amazing vid guys. Educational, fun, entertaining love you guys! I want to try the sheep's head too, this one looked more appetizing then the boiled one. Those puddings looked really good with that burnt sugar top, mmm. I don't know how you guys do it. You always show us the best local eats and are not focused on click bate like some vloggers.
😍😍😍😍 thanks so much for your lovely message Suzy! So happy that we have a community who get what we’re doing 😄 this was such a delicious day of eating! That sheep’s head was brilliant 🤤 thanks for watching and commenting 😘 Cheers, Sheena
Thanks so much for your warm welcome Ferit Kaya! We always love visiting Turkey- the food culture and local hospitality is phenomenal. Can't wait to return to see more of the country. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena
