I did the same puzzle over the summer and like you found it extremely difficult. And then upon completion realized that there was a single black piece right under the gargoyle’s arm missing! I was crushed! But I didn’t let that stop me. I made my own puzzle piece out of a piece of sculpey clay. After that I sealed it and framed it. I challenge anyone that sees it to identify the piece and so far no one has. Any way loved the video and the puzzle.
Glad you enjoyed the video! I would've been devasted if I was missing a piece after all that work. That's always my biggest worry when putting a puzzle together. It's awesome that you sculpted a piece, great idea! I do plan to complete this one again in the future, and when I do I will definitely frame it! I am having major regrets now that I put it away again :(
I am so impressed you finished this. I would absolutely have quit early on. The all dark colors combined with the single shape for the puzzle pieces would have had me packing it right back up. Getting through this, you must know now you can conquer any puzzle!
This truly was a beast, and there were many instances where I just wanted to toss it off my table🤣 but knowing how far I got through at those instances, it would’ve been a waste. I really hate that I took it apart, and as punishment for doing that, I’m going to attempt it a 2nd time. But it will be glued and framed this time!
I am working on this puzzle now. It's very difficult! I put a tv show on while I try to get just a few pieces every day. It's going to take a long time!

for puzzles that do not have a poster I take a picture of the image on the box with my phone then I can enlarge areas that I am struggling with... works for me... I love your channel.. your energy and personality.... you are fun!!!! and no I will not be trying this puzzle..... lol lol

I'm going to try that when I attempt this puzzle for the second time. I wouldn't suggest trying this puzzle out unless you intentionally want to go insane LOL. But I will complete it again just so that I can actually glue it and hang it up this time.
I don't typically go with dark puzzles, but I love the haunted mansion ride so much that I had to buy it. I'm sure at some point in the future I may set aside a few weeks of my life to complete this puzzle again LOL But I'll frame it the next time!

This truly was the hardest puzzle I've ever done! But don't give up! Extra lighting is for sure needed. Natural/sunlight I think actually worked best, so I'd work near a window if you can. I actually plan to attempt this one again since I was dumb enough to dismantle it after I completed it lol. This video was one of my earlier ones, and I realize I need to add more to it. I need to make a second video about it and talk more about strategies/tip to try and help the completion process.
I tend to avoid puzzles like this. I can only see about four distinct colors. There is only one piece shape that I call an H shape, which means that half of the pieces go in horizontally and half go in vertically. But that doesn't help you if the details on the pieces are indistinct. This puzzle should have been cut in standard ribbon cut with at least five distinct shapes. And a poster may not have given you that much help unless the colors in the poster were the same as what is on the pieces. I hope your next experience of this ride at Disney World is not marred by this puzzle experience.
This puzzle truly was the hardest I've ever done. You are pretty much correct on the color and shape situation. I had to play around with lighting so much just to get the slightest hint on the color/tone. I'm sure I'll think about this puzzle the next time I go on this ride, but at the same time I'll just feel so happy to even be back at Disney.
I bought this puzzle during my last stay in April 2023 at Walt Disney World, because like you Haunted Mansion is my favorite attraction after Phantom Manor. So for my part I started sorting the pieces by shades of gray and black and down to brown while gathering all the right edges to form the frame is this a good thing?
Your sorting sounds pretty similar to what I actually did. Separating the edges is what I always start with. I also put aside anything that had any specific details like candles, letters, etc. You can also make out some light bluish tones, which were the pieces for Liotta. After sorting out the grays/blacks/browns, I recommend sorting each pile further, which will create more piles, but they will be smaller piles to work with. Really, you may keep sorting and sorting, until you get to the solid colors, then it's best to arrange them by similar shape. Its very time consuming, but I find it helps. Make sure you have good lighting too. I'm planning to attempt/film this puzzle again and talk more about my method/plan to complete it. Hopefully it won't take me as long LOL. This puzzle is a beast, so let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to help! Oh man, you were at Disney recently...I'm jealous 😭I'd love to ride Phantom Manor one day!
@@thepuzzledmandy Yes, I am a Cast Member at Disneyland Paris, I am a cleaning host. OK but once the outline of the puzzle is done, is it better to start at the bottom where there is the Gargoyle and go up there or by the top?
@@disneysmagicvlogs That's awesome! Starting from the bottom I believe gave me a good head start. It's one of the only areas where you can kind of make out some specific details. But if you get stuck with it at some point, then move on to another section/area so that you don't get too frustrated.

Oh wow, I'd love to go to Disneyland Paris and get on the Phantom Manor!!! I've only ever been to Disneyland once, and I think I was about 3 years old, so I don't really have any memory of it 😂.But I've been to Disney World numerous times, and I can't wait to go back again. I’m sorry this puzzle was so difficult for you. I’m working on the stretching room pictures right now…same thing. The haunted mansion is my favorite ride at WDW, and the stretching room puzzle was my “holy grail” puzzle, but I’ve only been able to complete the tightrope girl so far. She’s 500 pieces, and it took me 4 days. I had to quit the quicksand men after 4 days, and I’ve spent 4 so far on the lady on top of the grave. I will definitely NOT try to get the signature series one!! I miss enjoying my puzzles! Thanks for the spooky mood music though!
OH my goodness! I need that Stretching Room puzzle 😂I can see how it can be pretty difficult, especially with the background color in each set. Yes, only try this Signature set if you're looking to get very angry and desperate. I regrettably took it apart after I finished instead of saving it because I didn't know any better. Now as punishment for my mistake, I vow to complete it again! Let's see how long it takes me to complete a second time. Glad you enjoyed the music! I love the spooky vibes, and would've much preferred to play the actual ride music. But of course I couldn't because of copyright.
I like that gargoyle-like creature holding the candles ! You are amazing - dark, similar-shape jigsaw pieces, and glare - how did you ever do it? Looks like a real strain on your eyes putting it together. Puzzle looks great, though, and it sure is scary.
I think it did actually mess up my eyes in the process. Had to get them check recently because of sudden pain. Dr said looks like bad eye strain. This puzzle tried to destroy me 😤
I can’t believe I’m trying to work on it again right now…it’s giving me flashbacks and almost seems more difficult to make out any details in these pieces this time 😱I think my eyesight has gotten worst 😅
do you have a special technique for this puzzle? I'm a bit lost, but I've managed to put together the bottom part very well. Because I don't know where to find the piece of the frieze below the name of the attraction where the number 999 appears.
It really does get extremely tricky once you get the bottom part mostly done. In terms of technique, after a point, I started sorting pieces by shape, and making sure they were all lined up so that its organized and you can spot details a little better. It's been a quite awhile since I completed this set, and I don't remember if it followed a pattern row by row with the shapes. I remember lighting being a big factor, so if you can use natural light, that was best.
That looked soooooo difficult. I agree 100% about the poster. Look forward to watching your next enjoyable puzzling experience doing a more uplifting image 😄
I still can't stop thinking about how hard it was, and the fact that I didn't store it somewhere is haunting me now :( I am really looking forward to moving on and starting something new.
Ehhh, yea I don't blame you honestly. I wanted to give up a number of times myself. It felt nearly impossible at times. I still can't believe I've completed this puzzle twice. Glad it's finally hanging on my wall now.
Glare is definitely a big issue with this puzzle, it drove me insane. I feel like natural light from my window made a big difference with spotting details in the pieces. In regards to sorting, it started with pieces with similar colors/tones, then changed to particular shapes. And then once it was sorted by shape, then I arranged it in groups of colors/tones.
