It’s ok brother…… seeing you tear up, I teared up for probably for 100 times. Even this reaction of you to the song made me tear for the 101th time. Glad you saw the lyric version. It’s great to see someone literally see this for the 1st time to get that kinda reaction. Bless you and you aren’t alone in finding such a band that can transform a person. Just an FYI there are a few more tear jerkers in Nightwish’s catalog

The title of the issue is taken from a 2009 book by evolutionary biologist and atheist writer Richard Dawkins, about the evidence for biological evolution. Dawkins also contributes to the album. Holopainen explained to HMV in March 2015: "I wrote him a letter a little over a year ago and explained what ideas we had for this album, mainly about evolution. Since one of the songs goes straight to one of his books, it felt like a perfect match to try and recite him on the album. A few weeks later, he sent me an email accepting the invitation." "Later in 2014, we recorded his parts at Hats Off Studios, Oxford. This is a huge honour for us, as Dawkins is one of our greatest heroes and his writings have been a huge inspiration for the album."

In the beginning of the song, Troy is using what is called an Ebow. It is a fairly simple device that uses magnets to continuously vibrate whatever string it is over. This combined with proximity to the neck pickup on an electric guitar gives the sound you hear. When it is on, it has a small blue LED pointed towards the neck. If you look closely, you can see that blue light near Troy's right hand. The Ebow is notoriously hard to play and even harder to master it at the level you see here. Just another example of Troy's talent. Later on he uses the Uilleann Pipes, which are bagpipes of Irish origin instead of the more commonly seen Scottish bagpipes. Instead of blowing into them to inflate the bag, he pumps a bellows under one arm. Like the Ebow, these pipes are notoriously hard to play and again Troy shows his mastery of them.
@fizzyridertoo
@fizzyridertoo 9 месяцев назад
Troy is an astonishing musician. He plays so many instruments at such a high level of skill it's almost incomprehensible. Add to that he's also a pretty darn good singer and you have to wonder if there's anyone even close to his all round talent. Now put him in a group of even more fiercely talented musicians and Nightwish becomes something very special indeed.

Greetings from Canada. I am glad you already knew about Richard Dawkins and his philosophy of life. This video was my first introduction to Nightwish. Was bowled over by it and fell in love with the band. You will love the poetic lyrics and overall recent themes for loving life, the wonders of nature, and accepting our inevitable demise as a small but special part of the universe.

While most live recordings of Floor were recorded in the studio with other singers, this is a Floor song. The studio version is 24 minutes long and the band uses the end as an outro. The song is part of the main part of the live show and is still played almost always today. The current record Human:||:Nature goes strongly in this direction: NIGHTWISH - Shoemaker (Official Lyric Video) The next one will be harder again.

Had Nightwish not taken off, Tuomas would probably have been a marine biologist. Luckily fate intervened and allowed us all to be inspired by his compositions and lyrics that convey whatever story he wants to tell. The most recent two Nightwish albums have centered around the human family, how we behave, how we relate to nature, and nature in general. This song is from the first of those albums, Endless Forms Most Beautiful, and is regarded as Tuomas's Opus. On the most recent album, Human Nature, Tuomas gifted us with a 30min instrumental composition on the second CD entitled "All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World". Although there is not an official video, there is an amazing fan-made video that is Nightwish approved: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RnOdQ5WNZJk.html

their album this is on is Endless forms most beautiful, an exploration and celebration of life... then they did human/nature, with the human cd being Nightwish and the Nature cd being instrumental... they have recorded and are currently producing the third in the trilogy due out in the spring. I welcome you in the name of science to check out their music video "Shoemaker" about Eugene Shoemaker, a planetary scientist who was scrubbed from a Moon mission due to illness but after he died his ashes were sent there. You will not meet many people as educated as Tuomas the keyboardist and songwriter for this band is.

Your reaction is spot on!!!! This song should be played at the beginning of every school year in biology and chemistry lessons at highschools. Let them cry, those pupils, from pure amazement and understanding who they are, and how lucky they are, and what responsibility comes with that luck of being a being. This band, Tuomas the writer, and Floor.....they come from Sirius B in the Andromeda galaxy and were sent to earth to learn those wicked mortals what they are doing to this gift of heaven called earth. Show this song to all the agressors on this world. It will melt their heart and the world will be a better place........

Great reaction ! the Greatest show on Earth is life. It'll never cease to amaze me how Tuomas was able to tell so many stories about the birth of Earth, about life about the evolution, about the history of mankind the history of music in one song. I know many people love the Tampere version of this song, but I am glad you did this one. Having Richard Dawkins as a narrator in the end was the icing on the cake . BTW the cheer during his speech... "Endless forms most beautiful ".... (it's the title of the album this song is on). This song reminds us all how special it is to be here, and it always reminds me how lucky I am to be here to witness this. Life is short, we better enjoy it.
