Many, many, many years ago when I was growing up and playing rugby in Australia, We were told as far as the Invincibles went they were larger than life and the two stories i remember being told by our coach from New Zealand, were .At one of the Games a spectator asked 'Who are chaps in Black 'to be told They are the All Blacks and he replied ''More like the All Backs'' and after the Game someone said to one of the players '' You play as though its a matter of Life or Death, and the Player replied ''Its much more important than that '' and as someone once said to me ''Its more than a Game its a way of life
I will never forget watching George Nepia on this is your life in 1985 he was 80 years old. He made me proud to be Maori as young as I was, I absolutely idolized that man because of the work that he put in to be great. He hurt dirty players and kept them honest on the field. And a tough farmer and awesome Papa off the field. Moe Mai Ra e te Rangatira.
Growing up through the 50s 60s 70s 80s we all knew the history of the 'Invicibles' the history of All Black rugby was always spoken about through the mainstream media of the day today not so much apart from this Utube clip
Absolutely remarkable 👏 men of steel but also the opposition back then were pretty average at best, kiwi rugby players were light years ahead in those days everyone else has just caught up to us only in the last decade 😮 💪
They caught up to our worse team in history and we are still ranked 3rd and it won’t last I predict the AB’s will get back to their winning ways and the world will fear the black jersey once more
