I watched a video on the Jeep TJ that was sooo bad that a Jeep guy had to redo his video... with facts. Don't get me wrong, his video quality is good but his script was obviously A I generated. "facts" we're so bad that any real Jeep guy would be ROF😂... and his is the top trending TJ video on RU-vid. Let's change that! Thank you for watching in advance! Please like, share and subscribe!

I just rescued a pristine 2003 tj x with 100k on the clock. It was absolutely beautiful, original paint, original aluminum rims, perfect interior. Had the death wobble. Ugh! I paid a shop to replace every single bouncy, steery thing and cost me $4500 Dollars. Well worth it, in my opinion.

I’ll never forget in 1998 I was spotting some jeeps going through terminator trail in North Phoenix, Arizona… it was my first time seeing a TJ perform off-road and I was seriously blown away! The suspension articulation and the torque from the 4.0 L engine was a game changer!

Thank you for watching and thanks for the comment! The amount of money and time spent developing the TJ was unheard of in that day, and Jeep engineering started developing that suspension shortly after the release of the YJ.... time and money well spent! Got an '05 Sport 3 years ago "just in case" of snowstorms. Fell in love with it the first time I drove it and don't want to drive anything else now. Frame is great but the body was rusting away in all the usual spots. Just had a new(used SC) tub, fenders, windshield frame, and tailgate put on. POR 15'd the frame. Raptor liner paint job. Worth the $ and now I have a gorgeous TJ that should last me years of fun.

I have owned. my 2004 TJ Rubicon for 20 years and only have 72K miles on it. I drove it every day for about 5 years until I retired. Since then I only drive it 2 or 3 times a month. This winter I added a snow plow. When I bought the Jeep new I had heard about the bigger LJ and wanted one. The salesman wanted to make a sale and told me the LJ was just a rumor and I settled on the short wheel base model. I had to have the rear main seal replaced at about 2K miles and that is the only problem I've had to deal with. When it was one year old I added an RE 4.5" lift and 33" tires bumpers, winch, etc. and that has been the setup ever since. I love how I can get in and out of tight spaces but the lack of cargo space is an issue. The only future mods I plan on are a long arm suspension and better seats. It still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. 😃

I know exactly what you're talking about! I've had life circumstances force me to sell a TJ, and it was kinda like it left a big empty hole in the middle of my soul... don't ever sell her... they don't measure Jeeps by miles per gallon... they're measured in smiles per gallon! Great video. I recognize many of those beautiful Black Hills's vistas. Just FYI though you said the Rubicon had "air" lockers. They came with "electric" lockers. Cheers from Piedmont.
@Jeep_psychology_101
@Jeep_psychology_101 3 месяца назад
Thanks for watching. Actually, they are air lockers. Watch our catastrophic upgrades one and two. I just installed front and rear Dana 44 axels with lockers from a wrecked 03 Rubicon and the associated air pumps. The Dana 44 lockers are air actuated and the wires coming out of the differential are just an open/ closed switch for the indicator lights. The only thing that that's electric is the switches and the air pumps, which on a factory 03-06 Rubicon are located on the top side of the skid plate...Thanks again for watching

Agree to disagree while at the same time support you. I posted a quick video of my dad's 97 TJ build up as an "everyday TJ" on my channel jeepNdirt and have had over 26k views primarily due to the fact that the TJ is very admired and loved by all. A clean nice sahara build on 33's is not only economical but practical and functional as well. But here's where I sort of view things a little differently and kindly offer my twist to your comments. As a jeeper of over 28 years, I love and still have my 95 YJ that I've owned since 97. Sure Square headlights didn't catch on but the YJ is what started the revolution. "Wrangler" came about in the YJ years. The really good 4.0 came out in the later YJ years. A nicer interior and "everyday driver" came out during the YJ years despite being called the "yuppie jeep" and several other things including the not so popular and short lived 3 speed 32 RH automatic (which I have). Now the CJ loredo had some good things that transferred over as well but in terms of daily jeeping the YJ started that. Sure the TJ had a few motor issues during certain model years but you'll always find those who say "I had one of the bad ones" and push their issue onto the world kinda like those who say the CAD axle on the YJ was a big failure etc... Unless you were running 40's the dana 30 CAD axle was fine. The only issue proven to be a problem was that vac. motor. Now when the TJ came out I recall very clearly people starting to call it the new yuppie jeep due to the change of interior to be more car like. Sure nice ride and obviously a proven track record now after all these years but now that I've added a JLUR (very built) to my "jeep family" here's what I've learned, partly from experience and the rest from all the old timers and people with way more experience than me. 1. We've always longed for longer wheelbase for better crawling and more space to haul stuff on our trips. Think about it, in our CJ's, YJ's, and TJ's first mod to make it better riding and crawling was to increase wheelbase. So a 4 door makes sense. I'm blessed to have two college aged kids that still like to hang out and travel with my wife and I so the space is needed. Also I camp inside my jeep with all my gear and very comfortably. Sure it's bigger and there are times where smaller jeeps have an advantage, but the 4 door jeeps get it done with a lot less, and they're better to travel long distance with far more gear than I can squeeze in my YJ. 2. Technology is everywhere and not going away. So saying "not having this, that, and the other to fail" as you mentioned towards the end of the video is sort of implying that JL's arent' going to make it offroad. I do agree trying to minimize a little in certain areas can help with things that are likely to cause problems. i.e. I have bypass on my axle locker sensors because I don't need it and those can easily get hung up and damage due to their location. However ABS and traction control is a wonderful thing on the JL's and I would never think of giving those up. Not only do they make a lifted JL MUCH more safe on and off road but it also aids in keeping things from breaking because it works so great at controlling wheel spin before you decide to engage lockers. I could go on and on but my statements are really geared towards, the fact that all of our jeeps are the "best" in one way or another. We each have our individual needs and as stated before there are pro's and con's to either side. I love my YJ with 160k miles lifted on 35's and my 3 speed auto just as much as my JLUR on 38's and all the goodies you can see on a couple of my videos. My dad's TJ was an incredible build and I absolutely love driving that thing around every chance I get, and oh it has 268K on the 4.0 and the 3 speed was just recently rebuilt for the first time about 10k miles ago. Owning a jeep and being a true jeeper is kinda like being a motorcycle or gun enthusiast. We should have one for this, one for that, and another for the other and so on. lol. Embrace all jeeps and appreciate each for what they bring to the table. I didn't care for 4 doors for a long time until I drove one then I understood it but even then I didn't want a JK at that time. Fast forward, now owning a JLUR lifted, built, and used as a daily driver, rock crawler, overlander, and exploration vehicle I see what jeep means when they said the JL platform was built around every previous generation wrangler including the CJ and willies. Never give up your old jeep, but try a new jeep if possible and you'll see how good of a job Jeep did over the years of raising the bar. One last thing, while I stated above about my love for all of my jeeps old and new, admittedly my current desire is to add a nicely built LJ on 40's with 60's in Khaki with a Hemi swap and lighted cup holders like my JL. 😁 Long live our jeeps, bless all of you real jeepers, and a special thanks to all those who truly represent our community well. It's humbling to see a jeeper helping those in need, maintaining trails, and just being good examples especially in this crazy world we currently live in.

Hello JEEP-N-DIRT! Took me a while to read the novel, that comment rivaled War and Peace! LOL! I took the time to watch your video "Every day TJ" . It's a fine video! I'm like you and have been a lifelong fan of the Jeep and have owned ZJ's , XJ's WJ's and TJ's and have regretted every one that I have ever sold. I can honestly say that I have only test drove a YJ... but took a hard pass on it after having owned TJ's... just couldn't get past the dashboard and the square headlights. I know, that seems really shallow, but that's my opinion. One day, I may try one of the newer ones, but where I live it would have to be a two door. Old Mountain town where parking is minimal...even my truck is a short bed single cab. LOL! Hope to meet you on the trail sometime, and as a fellow RU-vidr and a fellow Jeeper, May your rubber side always be facing down, and may all your adventures be blessed, Thanks for watching and hope to see you on the trail !

I had a ‘91 “Wrongler”, back in the early 2000s, which I bought with 60k miles and sold with 90k miles, now I have a 2010 JK Rubicon and a 2016 JKU 75th Anniversary Edition, I like the 3.8 much better than the 3.6. When I was looking for a 2nd Jeep, my intention was a 2006 (last year of 4.0), I found one with 55k miles, but the guy had that frame covered in rubber tar crap, which is a huge red flag, so I ended up getting the 2010, which had 58k miles when I bought it in 2023.

I would agree and I'm no Jeep guy. When the other Mopar cars looked like turds from 97 era into early 2000s, the TJ was an instant classic. Not to mention it still has the ruggedness and stout I6 of the earlier bare bones Jeeps. The JKs felt like a toy when they were introduced. Long live the TJs.

TJ is the best Wrangler. Absolutely. You get the best suspension, 4.0 engine. Better frame strength. You could get a Dana 44 rear axle. Then you could get a Rubicon package too. But I will say, there's nothing wrong with leaf springs. LOL.

Guess I'm that one guy that doesn't see the Tj hype. I own a 97 and it's not any better than any other Jeep ever made. To me the Tj is only popular because the internet and social media says so. Maybe I'm old fashioned at 37 years old. But I'd rather have a Cj7 or a Wrangler Yj over my Tj any day. And no my Tj isn't stock. It's got a full on aftermarket suspension underneath it. It's just not my style. To each their own and Jeep on.

Thanks for your comment Dustin, the Jeep community as a whole were appalled by the square headlights, everyone who lived through the Willis Jeep years and the CJ years had a real hard time with the square headlights, and that predates the Internet and social media, which became public in 1993. Prior to the YJ, government had been trying to get rid of the CJ as they were prone to rollover, and were targeted as a public safety hazard, thus the lower, wider stance... but as someone who was there when the YJ was released, the Jeep community just wasn't behind it... and it had nothing to do with the Internet and social media. If you prefer the YJ... awesome! Dare to be different! Thanks for watching!

I'm aware of the history of Jeep and the Yj. But I stand firm on my belief that the Tj is only popular because the internet and social media says so. I prefer the Yj because the hate. My Tj has a full JKS JSpec 3inch dual rate suspension underneath it with disconnects. A Cj7 or a Yj with the right springs will go everywhere and do all the same things as my Tj will and ride just as good. But the internet and social media blinds people of this reality. Jeep on man.

The TJ's had the worst 4.0's ever put in jeeps. The 1997+ had severe problems cracking piston skirts (i had one). They had severe head cracking problems in 1999-2001ish. And whatever year they went to the distributorless ignition that whole system was plagued with problems and they constantly throw check engine lights. And some of them had bad OPDA's that Jeep never properly fixed that chirp and eventually fail and destroy the engine. I want to like the TJ but all of the planned obsolescence built to fail measures jeep incorporated into the design in 1997 has put me off of ever owning another. 1991-1994/5 jeeps were the most reliable jeeps ever made. The 4.0's during those years were bulletproof.

I'm sorry for your bad experience with your TJ, the oil pump drive assembly was a poor design for sure, but if you paid attention to the noises coming out from under the hood, and took steps to correct it, they were still amazing engines. I'd have to look it up, but I believe it was Crown engineering that made a redesigned replacement that moved the rubber seal to the top and also machined in an oil groove that completely solved the problem, and it was just under $100.00. Have you ever given consideration to an engine swap in a TJ? Makes for an AMAZING Jeep! Thanks for watching, and Best of luck to you!
