The Kreg does actually allow for you to remove guide from the jig and attach it to any board freely, and it only takes one screw to remove it from the jig unlike two screws for the Going Make.

Yes, you can remove it but I don't think that is not the intent for the removable piece. There is no lip/hook to set your distance for the guide once it is removed. I've never seen it used in that fashion, but maybe I'm wrong! Wouldn't be the first itme! :) Thanks for watching Pepperman9!

@FlynndoggWoodwork
@FlynndoggWoodwork 28 дней назад
I agree with you! It doesn't matter. That's why I was saying that issue was negated once a piece of wood was put in. It did kind of concern me that it might knock the height out of alignment if it moved like that. Thanks so much for watching jazzdad!

Is it me or both square next to each other the goingmake 1inch start at 7/8 of the woodpecker (they can't be perfectly align with their t shape) but the going make 4" ends up just after the woodpecker. Are they at an angle that would justify this?

I went online looking for those Goingmake T squares again, unfortunately the ones available here in the UK are also marked only in inches. Hopefully they'll bring out an entirely metric range too. I realise some of their other tools are marked with both, but the T squares also have to accommodate scribing intervals. One measurement system on both sides also allows use of the tool along either edge. I think Burt may be on to something. When pronounced "me-me" instead of "meem", it sounds like a good name for disingenuous posts where the true motivation is attention seeking.
@FlynndoggWoodwork
@FlynndoggWoodwork Месяц назад
That would be a great idea! I think they could give up the 32nd of inches and do 16ths, then do metric in it's place. That would be a really nice tool. Haha! Love it about the meme. I just learned how to pronounce it myself about a year ago. I still don't exactly know what a meme is, and my kids even told me some of the clips I used were memes.... I'm learning all sorts of things from them the older I get!

How do you use the scale on the thin rip jig? As there is no way to set 0 to be at the edge of the blade, the scale does not mean anything, whether it is in 16ths or 32nds. Do you know a secret?
@FlynndoggWoodwork
@FlynndoggWoodwork 26 дней назад
I don't disagree with you. I've found that problem with almost every thin rip jig I've owned. I think it's more about relative measurement once you align it to your blade. Great point. If you find one that sets to zero once it hits your blade I'd love to take a look at it. I've had 3-4 over my career and they all have this fundamental issue.

You've done a really great job in reviewing these tools. I'm not into that schtick from Bert though, I had to skip that, tbh, it doesn't work for me. I do have to say it's a damned shame that there are infomercials being voluntarily made for cheap Chinese tools by American tradesmen, then we wonder why all the manufacturing jobs wind up overseas and where China's money is coming from to beef up their military. These are tools made in a communist country, let's not forget that. I do realize that almost everything is made in China nowadays, but promoting their products above American made ones (Woodpeckers) just seems: un-American. And then we want to blame the politicians for the state of the economy. Kind of a darned shame.

I’m not subscribed, but if you will get rid of that damn clanging bell to try to get people to subscribe I will. That is the single most annoying premade sound that anyone could use that makes me not subscribe. Hell, use a bell of your own and a sledgehammer! It would be hilarious and unique.
