Very nice DeAnn! My coffee got cold before I got off work and viewed the show. But of course, you always warm things up nicely. Thanks for the Challenger report! Stay safe! Cheers, Danny
I know. Big sad face goes here. We weer derailed by the pandemic, but are trying to get all of our ducks in a row again! Thank you for the nice comment. -DeAnn
Thanks for another great video. Growing up in the 1950's in Wisconsin along the old Milwaukee Road/C&NW lines I had the honor of actually seeing these beasts at the end of steam in the early 1960's. All the kids in the small town I grew up in (Sturtevant) would run to the tracks when we heard one coming. You could actually hear them coming from 5 miles away, and when they went buy the earth at our feet actually moved. Although I love diesel electric, nothing could and never will replace steam.
I want that model train set you have. Is it the G scale size model train. What are my chances of getting a free model train set or get a free train ride if break into the TV screen to grab it?
Doesen't supirse me that they retired 3985. They got the Big Boy up and running. And keep in mind that they also have 844 running non stop. They already do so much work to keep these two running. Taken an other loco to their steam program would be to much work.
Yes, Union Pacific Heritage Operations manager Ed Dickens has said that two steam engines is their current capacity as far as trained personnel. As for me, I count us as very lucky UP supports these steam efforts. There are likely stockholders who complain, probably loudly, about this budget line item. -Tim
