Sometimes you don't realize how much you miss something until you get it back. A normal, solo day in the life of Casey is something I missed. The vlog was such a part of my daily routine, this video was almost nostalgic. Thanks Casey.
Yes, but did you notice his almost aimlessness? Casey's vlogs always were characterized by manic energy and a sense of urgency, even when there wasn't an apparent agenda. With this (ad)venture, he seems lost from beginning to end. At least that's a good theme to explore: A decided lack of focus is his new focus.
@@ronlight7013 I think that was part of why I enjoyed it. Most of his videos lately have a 'purpose,' whereas I got the feeling this time he just felt like creating. Even his little note at the end about trying goes along with that. I agree, urgency is a good word to characterize Casey and his usual (probably majority as well) vlog, but there were always those days that felt like this. He was just vlogging to vlog because he got bored. And we got that church drone shot which is one of my favorite visuals to come out of his videos in a while. I think most vloggers feel the need to tell the 'story of their day' whatever that is, and I often get bored. The joy of Casey's vlogs for me was that he was just telling a story, and that story wasn't always the events of his day. Sometimes it was with music, sometimes with weather, time of time day, lighting, quick cutting, sometimes it's wandering around hallways and staircases. This felt like a random vlog I could choose from his back catalog. But you're 100% right. Beme or something else was always on the back burner, so the urgency was often palpable.
this vlog is so so nice! my (boring) hometown looks so beautiful, thank you so much Casey for taking the time to talk to me, i was so shook to actually meet you. 🙌🏻
and also here are some recommendations for next time/and for everbody else wanting to visit! -visit the münster (church) -visit the rothuus and market beside it -see the old part of town -eat some fondue/raclette -chocolate, obviously -visit some museums (fondation beyeler, kunstmuseum...) if you got the time (we‘re basically a art city) -other than that just chill and relax at the rhein (river)
I see others with the same comments, but man do I miss daily simple vlogs like this... you make 9 minutes feel like 20 and at the end you feel refreshed, I dont feel this way when I watch other videos... I have no idea what it is... but I miss it being a part of my daily routine!
Gotta respec the fact that every time we see Casey recording himself walking/running with his cam stationary, he's actually traversing *at least 3x that amount of distance* (he goes to setup the cam, then he walks back to starting point, then walks back toward/by the cam). lol I just find that funny, yet admirable.
@@shwn982 So being in any foreign country you're more likely to have your stuff stolen? What a depressing, short-sighted, and inaccurate view of the world.... I absolutely guarantee that your possessions are safer being left unwatched in Switzerland than in the US!
What i truly love about Casey's vlogs is that he shares the experience with us! He filns every shot by how he sees it, how he feels and it really makes the video and the experience itself a really great watch. I love it.
@@EVPaddy You are right ! Next Casey talk in Switzerland, should be about "how not to be booring". If "best quality life" it means having possessions, being alive but not living, I day "pass" anytime. I sold my soul almost 16 years, in a place like that, on Swiss border. ✌️
dudeee you know how badly i regretted not saying that 😂 we even had fondue (a typical swiss meal) in the evening and my dad would‘ve loved to have met him.
Casey's vlogs always invoke such warmth and nostalgia, he was the inspiration for me starting my own channel. Forever grateful to be able to watch him grow as a creator over time.
the TV at 00:46 says " there was an error while loading this content" not that anyone would care but, now you know edit : casey your pronounciation is spot on!
Casey’s B-roll footage is always some of my most enjoyable parts of his videos. He’s very good at framing up shots of places and pairing them up with fantastic music choices that really take you to that place for a brief moment. I miss the daily vlogs like everybody else and this felt like those days. Keep it up, Casey!
ZE we have four language: Italian, German, French and one another that I don’t even know how to translate it. But nobody cares about that because just 10 thousands people speak that language in the whole world👍🏼
This video remided me why i loved casey, talent. Just talent. He sees what is beautiful and makes it even more beautiful with his videos.. loved that one in particular.
even though there are people who are editing videos better than most of casey's now, casey remains the first guy who did it and it only feels original when HE does it
Not because there aren't other people that have a drone, but because Casey doesn't care that it's not allowed to fly in a city like he does. Unless it's NYC, they already told him not to.
Michal Guzdzik every year we have a week where the class does a project. The class above us painted a Bentley. The hotel owner’s child is in that class so they donated a Bentley to the school to paint it.
I can only assume your not American, as 1691 is after 1492, so that hotel is not close to being “older than America”. Of course America was also there, with humans, long before 1492.
I love what you said at the end about getting out to explore. That’s basically what my channel is. Going out on mini-adventures during my layovers as an airline pilot. Because there are so many people who just watch Netflix instead of going out to TRY.
Casey has legit been such a huge inspiration to so many people. I'm so glad to see that he is finally figuring out a good work-life balance. Thank you!
When your drone took off and the camera was looking back at you, I thought ‘Casey is grinning like a child’ and I thought ‘When you child-grin as an adult, you’re golden’. Enjoyed that video. Thanks.
There is a sense of new-ness and nostalgia in this vlog, and it's so, so welcomed. I totally agree with your point about getting out there and trying, Casey!
This episode felt very introspective in a way, I really like it. Talking your time exploring the city showed a different side of you we don’t get so see so much when you’re always going places or explaining things. Very cool.
I am swiss and i have to say, that the people where very wrong. In Basel there are so many amazing places to see. There are so nice museums, old placec restaurants parks and the city centre with all the very old buildings is amazing!
@@Hollyweed1 Well, if you're interested in culture, architecture and art, Basel is the top spot in Europe (most churches & museums per square meter) but if you aren't interested in that, I agree it can get boring rather quickly. Also, we are not arrogant, just not as outgoing/talkative as a lot of US-Americans for instance. ✌️
A lot of other people have touched on this, but this really did feel like the old videos. It’s the simplicity of the story. It really was “I’m bored lol” but he somehow takes it and turns it into an adventure. The ability to take what would be a 30 second conversation, turn it into a 20 minute story, and deliver it in 9 minutes all while being entertaining is a skill I wish to harness.
@Pablo Llobregat Ruíz You can get there in a focused year, meaning getting the basic words and grammar is fine, but if you want to get the details right you can only get there living here and practising 10-15 years to reach the stadium where people not realizing you are not a native speaker. Many grammar rules are just random and there are many exceptions. But getting B1 is possible in a year I guess
