UP Society for the Advancement of Veterinary Education and Research (UP SAVER) was organized over bubbles of beer in 1971. Since then it has grown to 11 more chapters in other veterinary medicine schools in the Philippines: DLSAU, OLFU, DYCI, CLSU, ISU, UEP, CSU, USM, NVSU, ASU, and SWU. The organization believes in its three core principles: Professionalism, Excellence, and Brotherhood, which are realized through noteworthy activities inside and outside the campus.
SAVER has been actively involved in promoting animal welfare and responsible pet ownership through vaccination drives, most especially through the “Petshow” which is the highlight of the VetMed Week.
Every year, SAVER chapters congregate for the National SAVER Convention and the SAVER Federation Congress where accomplished alumni share experience and knowledge about their veterinary practice, and members all over the country celebrate camaraderie.
SAVER inculcates excellence not only to its members but also to other fellow vet and non-vet students of UPLB as well as of other universities through quiz contests: Hayup na Hayop Quiz Contest, Local Mikrobyong Mikrobyo Quiz Contest (MMQC), and National MMQC.
At present, SAVER continues to train and breed individuals to be congenial, exceptional, and professional veterinarians of the country.
