Up to 20,000 new homes will be built at the current Bukit Timah Turf City over the next two to three decades. The plans include private homes, as well as public housing, the first time such flats will be built in the area in almost 40 years. National Development Minister Desmond Lee says the aim is to meet Singaporeans' aspirations to live closer to workplaces in the city. Claudia Lim reports.

A years ago, then Minister Lawrence Wong finally spoke the unvarnished truth about 99-year leases - that flats would be returned to the HDB and only a small percentage of flats would undergo the Selective En-Bloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS).

HDB at Bukit Timah? How much HDB is selling? Better hope you don't lose your job if u have no extra money and need to take loan to service it. Wait until you see the price and the potential trap u are walking into It won't be cheap and not everyone can afford

Good News Realizing the need for more Desmond L should be promoted as well. Note only new homes there are more to do to Singapore's Landscape. He should consider scraping all the HDB flats and build Autonomous NG housing without using SANDS

A more responsible narrative would have informed the public that capital gains would be possible only in the short to medium term. It should have been made clear to all that quite simply, public housing on a 99-year lease cannot be expected to appreciate endlessly.

People are starting to plan how to make money out of these. How to legally deceive them, get a unit, renting it out and selling it later after MOP for a windfall. These are those people that "spoil" market.
