@@jacobkhu-oldacc.4491 I'd argue that Fantastic Mr. Fox is overall way better than Up. Up got nominated for best picture because of that opening montage, which was good, but the rest of the movie fell way below that standard.
The reaction of Mr Fox was priceless and shoutout to the academy for nominating secret of Kells, they should do these interviews every academy award shows when announcing best animated feature
It's the best movie of all of these but the first 10 minutes of up is what won it the award, people think of those 10 minutes when they think of up but the rest of the movie wasn't nearly as good as the beggining.

This is a fantastic idea! So funny and insired. I love "Up," but my personal fave that year was "Fantastic Mr. Fox." So glad that "The Secret of Kells" got nominated; it's so underrated, and made in my homeland!

Fantastic Mr. Fox should've won best animated feature film and it should've been nominated for Best Picture. Wes Andersen brought us an animated masterpiece that went way over our expectations. UP did truly deserve the win for Best Original Score.
There needs to be a best voice acting performance category for the Oscars. If there was then Ed Asner would've been nominated and won for his performance as Carl. In fact, i might as well go start a petition for it right now!

Man 2009 will go down as the best year for animation movies it was packed with classics like Coraline,Up,Fantastic Mr Fox,The Princess And The Frog, etc and I was glad I was a kid to experience these films being part of my childhood 😀
That was pretty interesting seeing an interview with the characters of the respective movies that were nominated for the Best Animated Feature award at the Oscars.
Such a good year for animation! Cartoon Saloon and Laika joining in for the first time, one of Pixar's best films, and Fantastic Mr. Fox. Even the films that weren't nominated are mostly decent.
Banner category, each of the nominees was great and diverse. Glad one of my favorite films won, though I wouldn't have been disappointed if any of these other wonderful films had won.
Then that would be the biggest benchmark in cinematic history. An animated movie winning best picture. It won't happen anytime soon, but it doesn't hurt to dream.
This years oscar animation nominations were basically some of the best animated movies of all time condensed all in one year. Amazing year of animation wish we got more like it.
Up isn't one of my Pixar favorites but I'm glad it won the Oscar that night! Next month, Pete Doctor will have to add a 2nd Oscar to his resume with the superior Inside Out, a true masterpiece from the creators of the one and only Toy Story.
I like coraline slightly more but both are my top 2 animated movies. Coraline just had a bigger impact on me and I have probably watched it more. Also they stop motion took a lot of time to perfect, it took them 4 years to make that movie. Imo best animated movie ever, then up is close too.

Do you guys realize Up (the movie that won) was the only CGI animated movie? The others were either traditional 2D animation (The Princess and the Frog and the Secret of Kells) or Stop-Motion (Coraline and Fantastic Mr. Fox).

when i first watched this movie as a 4th grader it was like watching any other disney movies, y' know? but then i watched it again as a senior in high school, shit got me crying 2 days straight.
im bummed too :( at least he could still play carl 4 a few episodes of dugs new show dug days on disney+. it comes out the day after 2morrow. im excited. he’ll definitely watch it in heaven

i never saw up in theaters cuz when i first saw the trailer i didn't think i'd like it. but i decided 2 try it in '14 so i rented it, watched it & i loved it! i bought it a little after that & now i really wish i saw it in theaters!!! it's one of my favorite movies!!!

This is one of the few times in the last 10 years that I've agreed with the outcome of the Oscars. Up had such stiff competition but truly was the winner that year.
The most instructive lesson of everything is given to Carl Frederickson who relazies that the deepest and truest adventure is his life was the happiness of sharing his life and his dreams with his late wife Ellie Frederickson. He also comes to see that he has plenty to offer Russell and others. Up is the happiness to experience and watch from start to finish.
