Thank you so much! I am battling cancer and I take a lot of meds. I have all size medicine bottles. I dislike having my nightstand cluttered with them. You have given me so many wonderful ideas. I think I will use a few of your ideas and then dump my pills into the glammed up bottles. (Different designs or colors for certain pills) Thank you.🙂I have just subscribed Janie! Can’t wait to check out your other videos. 🙏🏾
So sorry to hear about the cancer but I have faith you will win this battle. I'm so happy this has given you ideas to dress up your pill bottles. Wow what a creative take on upcycling. As a crafter, they can be used for many things like staples, fasteners and other small objects. I used to toss mine out but after watching this video I will keep them and practice crafting with them. I think that particularly useful for me, will be the Azo bottles because they are sturdy and uniform in size. I enjoyed this video much. Thanks for demonstrating this perspective on upcycling and sharing these creative ideas. 😊
Thank you so much 😊 I'm so happy you found my video and that it has inspired you! I love upcycling and have a lot of "trash" in my craft room to work with. I have a Playlist of some of my upcycling videos that might interest you (I like to call it Trash To Treasure). Thank you so much! I have a box of these bottles but was struggling with how to make decorating them work.....paint them first! And love how you walked thru the paint options...SO helpful!
Hi....thank you for stopping by!!! I'm so happy this was helpful for you. Have fun decorating your bottles....I bet they will be beautiful :) Hugs...Janie
Thank you so much!!! I didn't do anything amazing......just sharing a few ideas to get you started. So glad you like this. Better than just throwing them in the trash :) Hugs...Janie
I find that putting some hot water in the bottle for a few minutes before peeling the label off make is a lot easier because it heats the adhesive and label making them less brittle.
Some of the bottles the label peels right off easy, others are a little more challenging.....but most I have no problem with. Thank you for the advice, especially for those that are struggling with the labels. Merry Christmas 🎄😊
You are always thinking out the box😃. I love, love this idea❤️❤️. We can add sequins and send it as happy mail. The ideas are endless for different occasions, themes or seasons. We can also store needles, pins, etc. I love the ways you decorated the bottles❤️❤️❤️. I know your hubby will love the bottle for his earring aids👍🏻. Thanks for the inspiration🙏🏻
LOL I'm so happy you like this! If you like upcycling and re-purposing I have some videos you might like. Check out my Playlist.....I have a playlist title Upcycling/Recycling that you might like as well as one on altered projects. Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe and healthy :) Hugs....Janie
Very cool idea! Can't wait to see what I can do with all my bottles I have collected tyfs Now I wonder what or how I could up cycle bottle corks I got a big bag of them at a flea market last year any ideas? ?!
Thank you so much! I would love to see what you do. You should post your creations in my FB group, Crafter's Castle😊 As for bottle corks, I have never used those but I'm sure you'll find something on RU-vid 😊 Hugs....Janie
I'm so happy you found my channel, and thank you so much for subscribing.....I really appreciate it. If you like upcycling, I have a playlist with my upcycling / trash to treasure videos in it. I hope you find many videos here that inspire you 😊 Hugs....Janie
Thanks! And yes they can be used for so many things. However for beads and glittler I would perfer it be see-thru so I could see what color is in it. But my husband has one for his hearing aids, and I have one for Q-tips, and when traveling (camping, etc) they are great to keep jewelry in, or just a fancy way to keep your meds. But yes they can be used any way someone wants :) Hugs....Janie
So glad I found this video! I am a card maker and we have blending brushes that have a wide handle that will not fit in regular brush holders. I am too cheap to buy the special holders, so I can decorate pill bottles and glue them together with some kind of spacer between because of that rim around the top edge. Caps can be used for something else. Thanks so much! I love the napkin idea! 😊
I'm a card maker too.....I also have blending brushes and I like your idea. Thanks for sharing it 😊 I'm glad you like my video......I'm glad you stopped by. Since you're a card maker, I hope you watch more of my videos.....or check out my card making Playlists so you don't have to scroll through my videos looking for them. Looking forward to hearing from again soon 💗 Hugs....Janie
I will check out your other videos, thanks! BTW - yours is the first video using pill containers that I liked. Most don't apply to our craft. So thanks again!
Hi, Janie! What a great video! :) I save all of my bottles, and I have tons of them. Last year, a friend of mine was asking for some. Her Mom was volunteering at the VA and the vets were making fishing flies and using the bottles to package and sell them. The bottles I have are all snap top; but that would not be a hindrance to your tips. In fact, the snap tops have less fuss on them. I have used them for Q-Tips, but never thought of the dental floss/toothpicks. That's a great idea! For men, however, I have sworn off brown or black, especially for something small. It's all blaze orange now. I get these cute rubber flashlights from Walmart for a buck and I always get orange or pink. I want to pain all of the things in my house that are movable! Like, the phone, the tablet, the cell phone. Everything black! What is a safe thing to use? I'd like glow-in-the-dark. I also want to know if painting that on the bauble at the end of my ceiling fan chain would work. It's plastic and I don't have a lamp in my room, so I'm always flailing around trying to find the bauble thingee. Cheers!
LOL Shala you crack me up!!! I just love you! And holy cow I can't believe I forgot to mention fishing flies....had a friend a while back that used to do that. Fly fishing is a big thing here in Montana. I wish I had the snap on lids but no such luck. And I don't get this bottles often because I get my meds in 90 day supplies, but I just keep saving them. That's one of the reason's I have put off making this video....I wanted to get a good collection first. So you are looking for paint to paint everything with huh.....Valspar house paint is what I would use. I don't like acrylic craft paint much. And glow in the dark paint......not sure what kind to get. There has to be something out there. You'll figure it out :) Hugs...Janie
@@janiethecraftprincess Hi! I wish I were there! My husband loves fly-fishing and used to tie flies. They are so darn cute! I have to say the ant is my favorite. One day, he had a backcast and the fly got stuck right by his eyebrow. I said, we should cut the barb and leave it in. :) Somewhere I have some day glo paint. I have a bunch of cans of house paint we got for free a few years ago. And I have this glass jar sitting on my bathroom counter that had cream in it. It will be perfect for holding some of that paint. :) I get the snap-top lids since they are better for my arthritis. WalMart uses the kind of bottles you have.
Put down a big tarp on the floor and boxes or something with some height around the area with tarp draped over it so that you don't get any paint flying on to something else. OPen the windows, us a big fan and you can do it inside.
Not so complicated the way I do it. If I want to spray paint somethning I set it on top of a box outside and spray......nothing around to get paint on and plenty of ventilation. Or I just paint with a brush....not too messy.
Hi Janie. Oh wow - what a great idea. I love to upcycle too. Never would have thought to use house paint. They turned out beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Jo :o)
Thank you so much! It's nice to know another upcycler.....one of my favorite things to do. And yes house paint is what I use on a lot of my projects....works great and I just get samples. You can choose from all the colors the paint store offers and just get a sample......the price is right and it lasts a long time. Better coverage than acrylic craft paints :) Hugs...Janie
Thank you so much for this video!! I’ve been trying to get ideas to upcycle my empty bottles! And I have a TON! I really wish there was a bottle recycle at the pharmacy. But when I asked they told me they don’t do that. Bummer! And I HATE having to throw them away. You’ve given me such great ideas! I’m a hairstylist! I think I will decorate and fill with shampoo and conditioner for my clients at Christmas! Of course I will seal to make them waterproof. 👍🏻😁😁
Great ideas.....your clients would love that. The pharmacy can't recycle for sanitary reason and possible drug residue. It would cost them more to sanitize than to buy new ones. And if you are thinking recycling like is done with plastic water bottles and such......it's a different type of plastic. But I agree there should be a way to recycle them. Thankfully us crafters UPCYCLE them to save us money and save the environment. So I'm happy you found my video and that it gave you some ideas. I have other upcycling videos as well if you're into that. Most of them are my playlists in one called Upcycling / Recycling. Have a wonderful day :) Hugs....Janie
You can recycle in your curbside recycling if your township can recycle the type of plastic your pill bottles are made of. (pharmacies may differ in which bottle they use) My township recycles #1 and #2 plastic so I throw the bottle in my curbside bin, but the caps, which are sometimes a #5 plastic (you can tell what type of plastic something is by checking a small recycling triangle on the bottom of the package) I collect and am planning to send to Wholefood’s recycling program because they accept #5 plastics
@@ber1779 The purpose is to upcycle.......make things from trash.....trash to treasure. It's a great way to craft and save money and the environment at the same time. Now I'll address the "recycling"......where I live we don't have curbs or recycling bins or even trash service. But if you prefer to "recycle" instead of "upcycle" that is your choice. Recycling is a good thing if you aren't into upcycling. But as a crafter I much prefer to upcycle.
Thank you so much Patty!!! I'm kind of addicted to twine......I did a video where I wrap a bottle in twine and it looks so cool. I hope you watch my other upcycling videos :) Hugs...Janie
I can't believe all the great ideas you've had! Question- I heard that it's better and more professional to wet napkins or paper before you Apply it to a decoupage surface. Is that true?
Patricia Morrow thank you so much! And no I have never heard that... in fact if you wet them they will just become a mess and tear and be difficult to use… Especially since you’re removing all the layers except for the top layer. There are many different ways to use them though… For example I use a water brush to dampen around the area I want to tear because I want a shabby edge (an example of what happens when they get wet)...Others may use scissors to cut around the area that they want… Or if you’re using the entire napkin or section of the napkin you could put the mod podge down first and then carefully put the napkin over the wet mod podge and then when that is dry you can mod podge over the top… Or there is another technique that involves an iron that I believe I may have shown in one of my videos and if not I will have to do a video on that. But there are many ways and getting the napkin wet first sounds like a disaster that I have never heard of before. Thanks for stopping by :) Hugs...Janie
Hello, Where Did You Buy The Water Bottle? TYIA!!! I'm Not ew To Your Site...And Subscribed...Yeah!!! Looking Forward To Browsing Many More Of Your Videos!!! (I Save My Pill Bottles -Too...And Have Many To Decorate...TFS!!! 🙂😍 🙂💜
Greetings..... I get cat treats in little bottles... When they're empty I use them for bagged cat treats and cut part of package too put around the container
Have you had any luck with the paint staying on? Would you recommend sanding the bottles beforehand and using a sponge brush to paint on the house paint?
Thanks for stopping by 😊 To answer your first question......I have used acrylic craft paint, interior house paint, and spray paint and have never had any problem with the paint staying on. I still have the ones I shared in the video, as well as several that we use every year as part of a Christmas tradition, and none of them have cracked or peeled. To answer your second question......I can't recommend anything I have never done before, and I have never sanded them. My video is not a tutorial, it is just to give you some ideas and inspiration.....so you don't have to do what I do, you can do what works for you. Sand or no sand.....sponge brush, paint brush, no brush.....any type of paint or no paint......it's up to you. I learn by trying my ideas and I always suggest to people that if they want to know if something works they should try it......that's how we all learn what works best for us. I hope you find what works best for you 😊
Thank you so much!!! I didn't do anything special.....just a little inspiration to get you started. I'm sure you will do something awesome :) Hugs...Janie

Some labels are more difficult than others. And sometimes it's just how you go about peeling them off. Not sure but this trick might work for your labels......Tuesday 2 Minute Tips & Tricks #4 - DIY Adhesive Remover ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pvvB9PLVSfk.html
Yes there are paints for plastic and outside furniture and I'm sure they would work just fine. The brown spray paint I used is a craft & hobby paint, and the sage spray paint I used is interior and exterior. Spray paints are probably best, but I also love using the interior house paint. I'm not really happy with the results of acrylic craft paints but they still work. So many options and I know you will find what works best for you :) Hugs...Janie
@@brianconrad6543 Hi Jody.....thank you so much. I hope you find more of my videos helpful. Is there a specific craft you are interested in? I try to do a varierty. If you are into upcyling and altering I do have more videos. But also have cardmaking, papercrafting, tips & tricks, etc. Let me know what you like :) Hugs...Janie
I have never tried nail polish and don't have nail polish so I can't answer your question. If would like to try nail polish than you should and see how it works 😊 Hugs....Janie
Thank you so much so for this video. I have been throwing these away for a long time and now thanks to you I can repurpose these bottles. Such cute Ideas.
Thank you so much.....I'm happy you like this. I love upcycling things and have other upcycling videos if you are interested....Trash to treasure is how I look at it :) Hugs...Janie
I don't remember, and I can't look now because everything has been packed up and moved out of the house because the roof blew off and the ceiling fell in. The color name wouldn't help you anyway because you would need the code they used to mix the colors. You should just go to Lowe's or Home Depot, or where ever you get paint and find a color you like.....there are so many color options on those strips, you will find just what you're looking for. They don't come pre-made, they make the samples up for you.
No I have not tried fingernail polish. Even if I bought it from the Dollar store it would still be more expensive than using paint. I'm all about saving money. Besides I don't want to breath the nail polish fumes. Also I imagine nail polish would tend to flake off like it does on fingernails. So I wouldn't even recommend it. But of course if that's what you want to use then use it. I believe we should all craft with what we have or what we want to use :) Hugs...Janie
Thank you for stopping by. That video is over 2 years old and my bottles are still in perfect condition. Nothing has pealed off or cracked. I have painted many other plastic surfaces and have never had any of them peel off. But my advice is to either give it a try and find out how it works for you, or just do what's comfortable for you. Merry Christmas 🎄😊
@@janiethecraftprincess good to know they haven't peeled off! I tried it once on a plastic surface and it was a disaster! I thought it was because I used craft paint, so, I tried again with one of my Golden paints, on a different plastic surface and it still peeled off!!! I wonder what happened then!? I'm really amazed your's dont peel off! Cause even the dried out acrylic paint I have left on my plastic pallete overnight, will peel off rather easily, to put more paint and continue working. I don't get it! 😅 Oh well, is a mystery and my paint hates me then! 😅😆
Well thank you......then why did you bother to watch and comment? Didn't your momma ever teach you that if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all? Thanks for stopping by anyway......negative or positive, it stil helps my channel 😊👍
@illudiumq36... How rude! If you don't like it, then move on. Surely you have better things to do than to make a very rude comment. Didn't you read the community guidelines?
