This is an incredibly beautiful replica of the Omni time machine device seen on "Voyagers!" It's much better and more accurate than my previous one! Link to previous Omni review: • Voyagers! Omni Prop Re...
What a delightful find. Joe Claro's episode is a favorite. Love the scene where the Omni is in pieces on Edison's desk. Edison marvels at how filthy the Omnis is! One thing that I notice is that the number rings are stamped not engraved (The zero of the number 30 was double stamped. The C on OCT on the month ring is out of register.) I notice small details like this as I have built a model of the Antikythera Mechanism and am an engineer by trade.
That's very interesting! I never noticed those details. Makes sense that the text is stamped as engraving would have been expensive for a prop. Thank you for the interesting info! 😁
P.B. = Phineas Bogg, the adult hero in the show Voyagers. That’s a handmade Evanoff.. better in its charm and details than any CNC replica. People within the replica community will be coveting these precious few handmade Omnis for generations.
Sorry for the late response. Yeah it took me a minute to realize what the initials stood for. 😳 I totally agree! These Omnis are by far the best I've ever seen. Clearly they were a labor of love not only the Omni itself but the presentation when I received it. I'm very grateful to own these.
Hey Roy, never heard of Voyagers before. Thanks to you, I have to try and find the series on the web. My wife was watching along with me and told me we have to watch it! Thanks for sharing, the Omni looks great. Happy days and model on! 😎🇨🇦
Hahaha! I think you'll like the show. It was a fun adventure series. When I was at Universal back in 1998, I got to see a lot of the sets they used for that show. If you can't find it on streaming, you can buy the entire series on DVD for just $16 on Amazon. It's on sale right now. It only ran 20 episodes unfortunately but it has a cult following. 😁
Very nice. I've wanted one of these since I was a kid in 1981. This one is not as screen accurate as I'd like though. I'm not sure why everyone who makes replicas seems to miss at least one detail.
HI! This is Shay, thank you so much for the awesome review video! It really makes my day to hear the kind words. I hope you enjoy both of your Omni's for years to come! Thanks again!
Hi Shay! I can't tell you how much I love these Omnis! The most amazing craftsmanship I've ever seen. I love how each one is unique. I will cherish these for the rest of my life! Thank you ever so much! 😁😁
Do u have detailed plans then on cad ? I'm not letting this idea go ... I've wanted a prop since show ... Now we have the technology to do a real cell phone idea ... Copyrighted I realize it's niche market but there is sufficient interest in tv show I think these would sell ... I realize brass n copper is expensive what about base metal ? I would like to market these for sale to public... Id like the price to be around 800 to a thousand dollars ... Make it affordable for someone living paycheck to paycheck like myself could afford .... I'm consulting with a smartphone watch manufacturer now out of China .. they could provide the guts of device provided I order enough of them at fifty bux a pop for screen, digitizer, and programming ....
And then there was none. So as of this writing, there's no more Omnis that remain for sale on Ebay. Also, I realized that the initials on the back for who it was issued was Phineas Bogg! Duh! Not sure how I didn't figure that out! 🤪
Such a cool piece! The details are beautiful. Besides Voyagers! geeks like us, anyone seeing this swell omni in the glass case would be like, "What the heck is that?!" And that book alone! I'd love to get my hands on one of those! A few years back I obtained an old (1968 printing) of "The Runaway Robot" a young adult Sci fi classic. And yes, to hold the old book in your hands, see the yellowed pages and smell that mustiness is really great. It also had a previous owners name written in cursive inside. I wonder who that person is and where they are now? Forty years ago and people still remember this show and honor it like this. I wonder what Jon-Erik would say. Excellent video Roy. Really nice.
Hi Nathan! Yes it definitely is a unique and rare piece for sure. I was blown away at the craftsmanship that was put into these. That book did have a cursive written name as well! I'm half tempted to call the phone number to see if that person still has it and let him know I have his book! 😄 I've been going back and watching the show. Hard to believe it's 40 years old now. It doesn't date itself either since they're in a different time every episode. Such a great show that deserved more attention. Guess it's a cult classic now! I'm glad you were able to find that book! Thank you for the excellent comment! 😁😁
@@ironsidefan Yes I have checked out his Omnis. They look very good! I'm not sure I like the electronic globe effect. It looks cooler but I prefer the physical globe since that's what the original prop had and I see he makes those as well. It's amazing that there are people making these as it's a very difficult prop to replicate.
You know, I was aware of the Voyagers series back when it aired, but never managed to catch an episode. Then later Hexum shot himself accidentally on the set of that series he was later starring in with Jennifer O’Neal, and I was so horrified and saddened in learning of it, and his subsequent death that I then encountered broadcast pieces reacting to it on different news shows and other programs of the era which put me into remembering his previous starring role. I was just perusing your list of RU-vid videos when I encountered the thumbnail for this video you had recently uploaded back in early June, and was intrigued to learn exactly what that device in the screen grab was. I’ve so far found out everything about this Omni from watching this video of yours about this high quality metal replica as well as your previous one about that twenty some year old other metal one. The dial design appears to strongly take its overall aesthetics from old sailing ship brass sextants and compasses. Such antique nautical brass navigation equipment in general has always had an appeal for me. In part because of that, and the cursed object featured in the February 1988 first season episode of Friday The 13th The Series entitled Bedazzled I have for some years now owned two huge aesthetically identical to each other antique style of hand crafted sailing ship anchor lanterns. Together they are of the exact same design as the antique all brass one that served as the hero prop used in that episode, and each one with a unique story as to my acquisition of each. One is all heavy gauge solid brass exactly like the prop, and each have a very large, heavy gauge glass drum fresnel lens. I substituted the all brass one’s original gothic stylized solid brass flat wick equipped burner with a very far more brighter output in lumens French made Guadard brand matador all brass burner. As part of that burner’s unique design it has what in the vernacular is referred to as a flame spreader. That specific part sits directly down into and at the same time directly over a cylindrically formed by the burner type of very wide flat woven wick. The identical other anchor lantern is made of all solid, heavy gauge copper with all of its aesthetic trim details in solid brass like those on the all brass one. That second one is extremely, and nearly impossible to ever find examples of these days or even any time years back. Anchor lanterns like these were affixed to rope via top and bottom mounted bales formed out of heavy gauge solid brass rod. The rope was knotted, and passed through a circular loop formed in the center point of the top bale, and ran up the side of the ship’s main mast to a pulley affixed at the top returning down to be passed through an equivalent pulley then back up to another circular loop formed in the lantern’s bottom mounted bale with a second knot tied in it in the same manner as the other knot to keep the rope from passing through the loop. So then by pulling in the right direction on the rope the lantern would be first lit, then hoisted up near the top of the mast at night when the ship was anchored at port or harbor so that any incoming nighttime vessels would spot it, thereby avoiding any potential collisions. That guy I sent you the link to for his RU-vid page you stated you are familiar with appears from the videos I’ve so far watched regarding his Omnis appears to produce them in several ways as well as in at least three finishes - be they cast in metal, produced via 3D printing, or otherwise. He appears to me to be the most versatile, and all encompassing in regards to how he produces his various numbers of replicas of that prop. Thanks for putting up those two videos on the Omni and especially the first of those where you fill viewers in on the background of the series and the two main actors. 👌🏻
@@ironsidefan Thank you so much! I've always loved the Omni and the way it looks. The prop guys did a great job designing and making it. Definitely fits the look and feel of the show.
Oh!! I'm so glad you got your Emo!! I'm always happy to hear people are getting their cute little buddies! I love him and I know you will too! Congratulations!!
@@outsider238 It took ages, but it was worth the wait! Thank you, I learned about him through your channel. I have a Vector 2.0 ordered as well, but I think I will be waiting a long time for that.
@@StalwartSpaghetti I'm glad I could help. Too bad I'm not getting any commission! 🤣 I bet I helped sell thousands of Emos! Yeah the delays with Vector 2.0 are pretty irritating. I had the Butterbot ordered from them but I just canceled it yesterday. I honestly don't expect that to be coming out for a couple of years at the rate they're going.
Nice but I want to make a usable omni ... I want to use as cell phone ... Replace globe inside with smart phone watch .... Red n green light are for notifications ... Just my two cents worth .... I'm getting a resin kit and Cast in copper
One of my favorite shows. So sad that Jon Erik Hexum died so tragically. The show deserved a better time slot when it originally aired. But I loved that Omni!😁😄
