Hello lovely people!
Today, I'm just updating you on the progress of my English Paper Piece quilt, the pattern by Tula Pink called "Tula's Bloomers." All of the individual segments are finished and now I'm getting ready to piece those together to finish the top.
Thanks for watching!

Thank you, Tricia! It has been lots of work, for sure. It's that project that I work on in between other things, or while I'm watching TV. But I'm now to the point where I can start piecing all the big chunks together. Woot! As always, thanks for watching. xo

Your flowers are so oretty and Its going to be a beautiful quilt! I am so proud of you! I live in an apartment and just dont have a big enuf table for making a quilt but i could do this on my ottoman or the arm if my chair and my kitchen table! Couldnt i? The most important part would be to spend lots of time cutting out all of your paper shapes and then the cloth shapes yes? Ive been doing so much slo stitching, quilting pieces i had, repairing and hand quilting a quilt that my aunt made for me, i made a cloth box to slip a pill box into which has my vitamins in it and i had a rubber band on it to keep it from popping open. So i used a roll of quilt strips, a pattern ive made lots of book and bible markers out of and used a couple of them that i had already stitched designs on to make a pill box case. Its so pretty laying on my ottoman now and i don't have to worry about them now. I finished a colab monthly challenge and i seriously thought, well now what am i going to do? I should go back to making some journals, but im just enjoying tatting and stitching so much.i looked at this pill case and thot "I should make lots of them. They would be fun to hold and just feel all of the lovely stitches." Im also working on 5inch blocks, a squirrel, a chickadee, an acorn..and next i think a sunflower to make a fall table runner for my dil. I dont know how to just have 1 project. Its nice to have 2 or 3 going. So thankyou for this idea.

Thank you! My biggest challenge with this EPP quilt is space, too. I live in a house, but it's a small one. I do not have a big dining room table and my craft tables all have tons of stuff on them. So, I think I will take my quilt up to the library or to my quilt shop, lay everything out, take a picture so I know what I want to go where, and then go back home and start putting it all together. My quilt shop lets me use their big cutting table, too, so when it's time to trim off all the points sticking out, I can go there and do it. :-) I hesitate to use my floor because I have two giant dogs and even if I can get all the dog hair up, I just know they'll come crashing through the house and roll around on the quilt. lol Oh, the things we overcome in the name of creativity! I always have several projects going at once, and usually several lined up waiting in the wings. Hope you have fun with all of your projects and ideas. I hope you stitch-a-long. xoxo

Ohhhh, ok! Just bend the paper! For the longest time I’ve been wondering how to stitch the pieces together, without bending the paper… as I was sure one was not supposed to bend/fold the paper… silly me! 😳 Love the patterns you’ve created. Eager to see the whole thing! … Just bend the paper…. Shees…. 🥸❤

This is going to be a fabulous quilt!!! I can’t imagine the time it’s taken to wrap the fabric around the paper… very intimidating! Do you sew through the paper???

Thank you! So there are two ways to baste. One is gluing the fabric down onto the papers, the other is to just take a few large stitches through the fabric and the paper. (I glue baste, and use Sewline glue stick. It will wash out later.) However, when it comes to stitching the fabric pieces together, you do not sew through the papers. You just catch a few fibers from each piece of fabric and whip stitch along. Then you remove the papers. They are only there to keep the shape firm while stitching. Take care and thank you for watching! xo

Hi Lauretta, I was wondering how you are getting on with this quilt. After watching your initial video I bought the same kit! I am doing a different pattern and hoping to put embroidered flowers in the centre of each block. Still have a long way to go. I am using it as one of my travel projects when I am waiting around on kids pickups etc. Take care. Ines xx
