Update On First Light In Seattle, A Trip To Vancouver

I just returned from a trip to Vancouver BC. Westbank, the developer of First Light Condos in Seattle invited a few brokers up to their corporate headquarters in Vancouver. We stayed at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, toured their recent condo deliveries and their upcoming projects and learned a bit more about First Light - their newest condo development in Seattle.
I'm sharing my thoughts on First Light, the other condos in their portfolio and will share other thoughts and details on condo development, design and the current state of the market.

What are you thoughts on First Light?

I am very intrigued by this project. My heart goes out to all the folks who have made a pre-purchase and will now have to walk away from their deposits. With rates now being so high, the new construction condo market downtown being a dumpster fire at the moment (especially Spire, Nexus, and Koda), and crime in the immediate area taking over I feel really bad for those people (I remember on that block 2 months ago that poor lady who was murdered in her car). Two of my friends participated in the pre-purchase and are now having to come to realization that it doesn't make any financial sense to close. I hope we will see some buyers take the plunge and follow through on these purchases. Maybe there will be some auctions for the remaining units and units that churn during closing like what happened at Olive8. What do you think, might this happen?

I was interested in a 3bed at First Light but with these interest rates I'll probably just rent for a few more years.

Westbank is a failed developer. I fully expect this building to have a ton of issues, when and if finished. They have multiple unfinished towers in Seattle.

Hey Alex, explain a bit further. They are currently under construction on several apartment buildings. Have you had a negative experience with Westbank?
