Today I just wanted to go through a few updates and general husbandry I had to take care of, especially after my Curly-hair tarantula keeps burying her water bowl!

@@Wade_Wiley awesome! I struggle with them so much. I remember seeing an adult at the essex reptile show years ago just wandering round on top of some vivariums and trying to get one to adult has so far been a fail

@@sephuk They can be really tricky, from my experience the worst part is the moulting - with my latest one i likely woulda lost it by now if i wasn't lucky enough to be around to help it out a bit. Theyre just so ungainly I don't know how theyve made it this far! Theres a FB group specifically catered to care of them that has a ton of helpful info though, worth checking it out

Mr. Wade, I just received an L2 Devil Flower Mantis. Could you provide me with a summary on how to take care of it? I heard a heat lamp is required however, is it supposed to be turned on 24.7? Which kind should I buy? and is it necessary for an L2? I am a trained orchid and ghost mantis owner. Please advise.

Basking spot only needs to be on during day time. They can thermo regulate just like any cold blooded animal, females do this more when ripe with eggs too. Still make sure the ambient temps are up during the night but basking/ thermo regulation light can be off.

I've got a pretty decent question!! I've just recently gotten a giant asain mantis and before she got to me she was eating fine and she has molted twice before she got to me. She eat the first day, it's been 5 days and she still hasn't eaten. I was thinking maybe she was having an early molt, there's no signs of inflation on her belly or irritation. She's just sitting there, I know she's alive but she's completely flat. I've got humidity in there and the necessitys, am I doing something wrong? I'm not quiet sure how long it takes them to molt in general when the process does start! So I have no idea what's going on! If you could please get back to me I'd appreciate that!

Sounds like dehydration. They stop eating when dehydrated.
