Update on our XLWB monster New VW Crafter Camper build. SO many changes!!

The plan with the inside, and outside, changes as much as my beard over the course of the build so far.
Here's an update of where we are at up until now. We nearly there!!! YAY
Loads of new Crafter / Man TGE parts coming soon to transporterhq.co.uk
Massive thanks to Rhales Conversion for taking on the task we just didn't have the time or space to do.

After watching soo many SWB Builds and Being an Ex Driver of the XLWB [LT35 Years ago] I was waiting for SOMEONE to build an XLWB Crafter and THIS BUILD LOOKS The Best i;ve seen. SUBBED/LIKED.

Awesome to see just buying a car this week then will starting a crafter conversion for the summer will be interesting as mine need to sleep 5 and I wasn't gonna do toilet. Will be good to the end result

I really like the Birch ply finish. Its 100% going to be over weight though. We'll get in on the weigh bridge as soon as its finished and see. Keep watching :)

I really wanted a grafter but my driveway isn't big enough to accommodate it ,so I bought a brand new t6.1 high line lwb swamper camper van from van haven 👍

Surely, with 5 people, full water tank, diesel, clothes, food, bikes ect, plus your refitting your going be well over the 1100 kg, you calculated for the build. I did notice when you put it on the weighbridge it was minus the driver, whenever ive been pulled, ive had to remain in the vehicle.

@@THQAutomotive will that bring it onto tachograph fitted, and regs ? Or class 2, 7.5 tonne licence? Not sure how it would affect it, with it be a new vehicle, i imagine its not a problem to register it as a camper is it ?

@@ches15461 Yes it would be a class 2. Luckily i'm old so can drive this on my licence.

Absolutely love your conversions... And Rhales are amazing...the only problem for me is the lead time... How long are you looking at for a Crafter? I have not been able to find one with 5 seats and Fixed bed, shower and garage...

@@THQAutomotive Yep understandable... I have been looking for a couple of years but have had to wait for my final salary pension that comes in a couple of months... So looking at LWB Transporter with REIMO sliding bed... Not many around on the converted market...

@@THQAutomotive May I ask a quick question based upon your experience...? Is it possible to retrofit a REIMO sliding bed system in a Transporter that has already been converted? I need the space for storage as I am going to be living in it for at least the next 12 months...

@@TiredOfAllOfThis they fixed into a bonded floor. You'd need to remove the whole conversion and refit it. You'd also need to take some depth off the cupboards as the Reimo floor with rails will sit higher.

Mate, see the bit behind the badge, could that be done as a connector to run a roof top refrigeration unit like a trsco or asda van has? I'm trying to make my business delivery vehicle as nice as possible and I was going to put it behind the fuel filler flap that would normally be on the opposite side but now that I've seen your badge socket I quite like that.

Hi Andy. Did you lower it in the end? I see you went for swamper style wheels as I thought you were going for something similar to DCD Transporters lowered Crafter? Great looking van, especially the colour. Interesting technology in it too 👍🏻

Amazing looking vehicle. I'm looking at similar set up with tent box for mine. Need the tent before I position my maxfan. I've jumped ship from VW and now pilot a Boxer, it was the 6ft 9ish across that sold it for me. 😆

@@00dawb we've used other versions on other vehicles. The cargos just suits us more on this set up. Especially now the solar is mounted on there.

R & J camper Solutions. The New Crafter swivels sell out before they even make them so they're not on the website. Give R&J a call and they'll add you to the waiting list.
