After an asylum case is terminated, it is removed from the docket without any final decision on their claim, which allows those aliens to reside in the United States indefinitely without fear of deportation, and despite having no legal status. The mass closure of cases largely results from a 2022 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) memo, allowing for cases to be dismissed for migrants who do not pose threats to national security or public safety. The Post went on to note that in 2022, “102,550 had their cases dismissed or otherwise taken off the books-10 times the number in 2014. In 2023, there were 149,000 cases in [that] category, and so far in financial year 2024-which ends Sept. 30-the numbers are certain to surpass that, with 114,000 cases closed already.” The staggering number of closed asylum cases poses a stark contrast to such closures in previous administrations. According to a Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) report, the proportion of aliens ordered removed after claiming asylum under the Trump administration averaged 57 percent. However, under the Biden administration, the proportion of asylum seekers ordered removed has fallen to just 22 percent. For context, out of 76,407 asylum applications in Fiscal Year (FY) 2020, more than 48,000 aliens were ordered removed, less than 20,000 were granted relief, including asylum, and 4,700 had their cases closed or were allowed to remain in the country by other means. But out of 248,232 applications in FY 2023 (more than a threefold increase over FY 2020), 52,440 were ordered removed, 43,113 were granted relief, and nearly 150,000 were allowed to remain in the country by other means.

He did so by granting them “parole-in-place,” an invented form of parole that offers immediate work authorization and a pathway to citizenship. Parole-in-place is a concept created out of thin air, an abuse of the parole authority set forth in Section 212(d)(5) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. Parole authorizes the government to permit the entry of aliens into the United States for temporary periods of time, on a case-by-case basis, for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit. It is a narrow authority that Congress intended to be used sparingly. It was not intended it be used to grant quasi-legal status to illegal aliens already in the country. Despite that clear meaning, a memorandum issued by the Clinton Administration in 1998 set forth a new interpretation of the parole statute that, to date, has not faced legal challenge. That interpretation declared that the government could grant parole to illegal aliens already living in the U.S., not just aliens arriving at the border. Not surprisingly, this 1998 memo was used by subsequent administrations as a legal crutch to justify parole-in-place for other illegal aliens. In 2013, the Obama Administration created a brand new program, granting parole-in-place to the spouses, children and parents of U.S. Armed Services members. As a mother I cant think of anything worse than to lose a child and I think there is nothing that will take that pain away but I do have to say that the compassion and sadness on every person in law enforcement and the Mayor during these press conferences shows and it has to be a comfort to the mom and other family members. Im praying for God to give comfort to this family and to be with all the men and women in law enforcement everywhere.

That poor mother spent all that time trying to developer during a pregnancy, and all the raising and the love that she gave to her, even though that she herself was young. All of that love and care, and everything poured into her is gone so quickly by monsters, I feel so tremendously sad for the mother. I can see the grief in the exhaustion, her face and the shock of it all. I’m so sorry for her terrible horrible loss. I can also see on these professionals faces the sadness and grief and probably full hell of a lot of frustration there.

The boyfriend told police that he heard adult male voices in the background. It was a woman who was driving saw her body floating in the creek and called the police. The mom tracked her daughters phone and saw that it was at the creek location in North Houston. That's when she discovered that it was her daughter.

I very happy that they caught these two losers and that they are sitting in jail. However, on more one occasion HC Judges has allowed someone to walk on a low bail even for murder. Hopefully, with the heinous nature of this- they will be kept in jail.

During the Oversight Committee’s markup, Republican members emphasized the commonsense purpose of the bill, while Democrats argued fervently that it was partisan, and moved the country backwards. Congressman Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) said, “The only people who should be able to make political decisions within the framework of a representative government are the citizens of that government of that nation…that’s not xenophobic, that’s common-sense.” In contrast, Democrats on the committee repeatedly called the bill a shameful attack on illegal aliens.
