I just recently found your RU-vid channel. I have a malinoa x gsd mix female 5 months old and I'm struggling to teach her basics. She pulls me during walks so hard that I am barely able to hold her. I'm working with her for the last 2 months but obviously doing something wrong.. When I lure she is working but her focus is short. Can't hold her in down position, she just jumps back to sit. We got to the point that I don't like working with her cos I don't see any progress, so I'm searching for more knowledge on RU-vid. I have no available trainer in my area. Seeing you using prong on such young puppy gives me hope, coz I thought it's too early to introduce that tool. Thank you for your videos. ❤️
So thankful for your videos. I'm looking at what I'm doing with my 14½week pup and then see people with there pups doing all these crazy obedience already.. Thankfully Iv just watched this and seen I'm not the only one still luring and shaping basic behaviours (I was scared being a first time Mali owner I would go to slow and shed over run me)
The morning training in the kitchen - the final step where you sort of push her back- is that so she learns to back up? Sounds like a weird question but I KNOW there is a reason. LOL
No worries! There I am teaching her “stand” 😊 Typically I do this on a small raised platform to control her movement more and make it as straight as possible.
I don’t know if you have any facilities there or a body of water you feel comfortable letting your Mal’s into but could you post a video of them doing some dock diving/swimming? Maybe even a video of “intro to water” for your baby Mal?

Have you thought about making like an Amazon store (probably not the correct terminology) but basically all the stuff you get from Amazon that you recommend and we could visit that and choose from there? How did your older dogs take to Storm? I read that you should only let them interact short periods of a time so don''t bond to the other dogs more than the owner. Also, my female Mal doesn't really care for my 9 week old pup. I'm afraid for her to correct him because I'm currently building his confidence. Any suggestions?

Proper fitting slip lead, proper handler positioning, properly timed leash pressure and/or corrections, and food reward incorporated into training is encompassed into balanced training philosophy. There are also “prong collar” alternatives where the “prong” is a hard rubber instead of the metal. Watch Mal Mom’s position, leash pressure, and leash handling on this video... she’s spot on using the prong tool. E-collar when introduced and conditioned the right way is another alternative. Coupled with a simple collar/leash + training it’s also a balanced training method. Heavy on the foundational training and the tools (prong, e collar, slip lead) are simply additives that make it that much easier
@@ruikik1 puppies tend to be easier to teach with treats, due to their young age- however a prong can be beneficial, especially if you have a large breed puppy or a stubborn one!
