I just finished reading ZMM for the first time half an hour ago and I've come online to engage with people about it, and I see that you're currently on chapter 13 of 32 on Lila, so I'm very tempted to plough through Lila in order to follow your weekly videos.

I read Mr. Pirsigs 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance when I was 16, which at the time was a little early for me to fully grasp and integrate what the book entailed. I'm 24 now, and have started re-reading it again, hopefully with more mature eyes. Next in line will be Julyan Janes Origin of Consciousness, as per your reccomendation. In my academic study, I am creating a framework for the development of advancements in AI technology, with emphasis on perspectives from philosophy, and the connection between human emotional experiences and music. The aim is to create an affective AI, one with the capacity to understand, and act accordingly in regards to emotional states. Possibly even with the abillity to emphatize with other beings. I believe The Theory of the origin of consciusness, and the Bicameral mind may be crucial in this research. I would love to hear from you. Thank you very much.

For me, Lila never went away. Any half decent metaphysical notion is often a synonym or semantic step away from being subsumed by MOQ. I read it at 19 while working a dull job, moving on a section only when I felt I had a sense of it. Took me 6 months to finish it, then 15 or so years to see without it. Mechanical reason is not something we can pick up and put down, it's more like a language we totally and singularly depend on. Despite it's charmless crudity, it has become thought itself, and from inside, it is profoundly hard to contemplate another type of thinking. It is arguably not even a natural product of the human brain, little more than the scarred circuits driven and demanded by our technically redesigned environment. At the core of MOQ is an abstract structure that confounds western logic and form because, in spite of its frustratingly tight and tiny size, it resolves their confusion utterly, like a pearl in a field of mud. It has other unusual and exotic properties, but most importantly for everyday happenings, it is not applicable like any top down tool, nor is it usable like a mechanical algebraic system. Only real events describe it, events that are implicitly the shape of reality, and thus made explicit in MOQ. This abstract explicit part will only open up to the event, as one makes sense of the other, until, once the event has passed, the abstract sense at the core of MOQ goes with it. To my mind, this simply puts sharp blades on high shelves where they belong, allowing a unobstructed, un-abstracted, sense of reality.

Jordan Peterson's 'truth', a truth that is contextual, he was struggling to communicate this to Sam Harris, but essentially what he was describing is Pirsig's Quality. The world really needs to discover Lila & the MOQ, you're right, its time is now and it's long overdue.
