*UPDATE*: RICHTOFEN'S MISSING SOUL EXPLAINED (Part 2, Gorod Krovi Easter Egg Ending Explained) 

Bunch of people have asked me to make a video dedicated to the most likely theory about this, so here it is! Richtofen's missing soul explained. Bingo. Now it's your turn to theorise - *do you think we will see MORE CHILDREN in the house in DLC4?*

REPOST: What if after Revelations, Richtofen gets killed, the cycle continues. The Giant is the start. Dempsey says: "How many times do we have to do this, Richtofen?" What we play isn't the first time the crew played it, think of the bullet hole on nikolai's chest!

Twist ending, fog rolls in on revelations, the denizens jump out, and eat our characters alive before they complete their quest, and PRIMIS fails

We shouldn't forget that in the Der Eisendrache ending cutscene, Richtofen says "This artifact has the power to contain and preserve the subjects soul. You're soul too, Dempsey. But it can only be done after the moment of death. Just as you saw me do to my other self.

My theory: The shadow man somehow took control of richtoffen inside the summoning key and is holding him back so our Heros can't finish their quest. Origins richtoffen sacrifices his own soul in revalations to save the universe. (Perfect heroic ending)

My theory on Doctor Monty. Doctor Monty was the first of the group 935 scientists to travel into Agartha, during a test run of the not yet finished project, the teleport that was currently being worked on by Maxis and Monty. Once inside he realized that this place can control a all of the inter-dimensional element 115 that group 935 had recently discovered. As he began to experiment with it, he realized the effect 115 can have on dead subjects, as well as the possible buffs it could have on humans; hence the creation of perk-a-colas and gobblegum. He also realized well in Agartha that he was able to transverse time and space, so he could test his advances with 115 on subjects in the past of different realities without harming anyone of his current timeline, these experiments created the zombie templars. He eventually created a structure that would allow him to swap from Agartha to Earth anytime he pleased, and the portal to Agartha on the 935 moon base was created ( before 935 actually got there ). After starting a successful candy company on Earth ( hinted by a candy bar labeled “MONTY” on a multiplayer map), he returned to Agartha to discover the rest of its capabilities. He found Agartha was able to control and create and infinite number of dimensions, and Monty took advantage with this to police the entire universe, and found inspiration from the zombie experiments at 935 and used them for his punishment of those who had sinned; i.e. the Mob of the Dead and Shadows of Evil. Monty chose the eye color for his zombies to be red ( keep note of that ). Most of the time Monty did not appear during his punishments and used others such as Brutus to punish for him, and also disguised his voice with a devilish tone to appear more menacing. This routine goes on for a while until Samantha. Agartha only allows the user to alter the past not the future, as it has not yet been written. When doctor monty saw the evil Richtofen had become, he saw that after the teleportation incident with Samantha and Maxis, that he would need to fix the past. Without knowing what the future might hold, he quickly went back in time and spoke with Richtofen. During this time Samantha had entered the Ather and was taking control, which is the reason why the eye color of the zombies in Shadows of Evil is yellow. He told him of the evil he would become, and how he needed to fix it and Richtofen understood. Monty then told Richtofen to open a portal and meet him in a certain dimension where the summoning key was kept, this dimension happened to be the Shadows of Evil dimension. Monty needed to act quick so he could hand off the summoning key to Richthofen before Samantha took complete control of the Ather. In Shadows of Evil, he would appear as the Shadow Man, and make sure that the four characters were able to kill him, therefor he could be absorbed into the summoning key before Samantha took control Agartha. Now inside the key he was able to continuously instruct Richtofen and direct him along the way. Monty used the summoning key for almost every thing and could still teleport items through the Ather with being in it. This includes its use for place and summoning perk and gum machines, wall weapons, mystery box and the pack a punch machine, however Samantha could also do this which allowed her to annoy the crap out of you be teleporting the mystery box around. This is how Richtofen knows what to do along the journey. Monty also can speak with Maxis, his former assistant, and this is why Richtofen had not heard of Monty prior because Maxis had hid the teleporter malfunction which sent Monty to the Ather from the rest of the group. Monty never told Richtofen his name, as he might of not trusted him had he known he was from group 935. Other evidence of Monty being in Agartha is the unlimited amount of 115 used to make his drinks, only available on Agartha. Also with the newest announcement of the Stalin Grad map, in this map the zombies eyes are red once again hinting at the possibility that Monty was successfully gaining back control of the Ather. Here's my *theory* Monty quote from GK: "He's been in the house for ages, but shh, don't tell him..." Richtofen quote from memories video: "He thinks I do not know..." Now what I think is going on is that Eddy in the house is the version of Richtofen that the soul needs to be collected from. Monty is "hiding" it from Richtofen for some particular reason that we do not know yet. Along with the idea of Monty saying him [Richtofen] is in the house and the only other "Richtofen" we know in the house is Eddy even furthers my theory. Also the memories video does seem to talk about Eddy a whole ton which even furthers it as well. Just a thought and When Richtofen says "the blood will protect me" maybe he means Eddy. Cheers.

Does anyone else think it's interesting how the portal in the sky in Gorod krovi links to Shi No Numa, (because of peters cipher) and in the EE cutscene we sent the souls through that of the 1.0 characters, (is that how they end up in Shi No Numa back in WaW) bringing the storyline full circle?

There are 4 souls in the summoning key shadow man, Dempsey, Takeo, Nikoli. I think the shadow man is Dr Monty and the reason why Richtofen can't hear Dr Monty after the Gorod Krovi cutscene is because Richtofens soul is not in the summoning key but the rest of the crew can hear Dr Monty is because their souls are

What if when montiey by saying that rictofin has been in the house for a while it might mean his soul has been in the house

What if the bo3 zombies storyline follows the bo3 campaign story to a certain extent? The main character , who represents the crew, is going around and basically killing rouge agents, i.e the 1.0 characters, who are causing havoc. Later on , the main character gets "transported" to his dni, agartha, where he meets corvus who i believe represents dr.monty and all the other "dead" charcters still "alive". OR, and hear me out, im completely insane. But you have to admit, there are some striking similarities with the campaign and zombies storyline.

In the der eisendrache ending cut-seen, he says to dempsey that he "has to collect his soul just like i did". He must of collected his soul.

*MY THEORY* How does Richthofen get the key if he just came out of the teleporter thing. He doesn't have time do get it in 1 second. He had to have done he after he shot himself, because 1.0 doesn't go 2.0 goes through the portal and collects the key. And the rules are "Just moments After Death". Sooo what I think is that Richthofen didn't get to the soul in time to collect it. And thats why he didnt have his soul go up. If I'm wrong correct me. Thank you :D

occam's razor milo, the simplest explanation is the best. I believe that Richtofen did collect his soul, we just didn't see it being shot up. Because we know for a fact that the shadow man's soul is in the key and I don't remember seeing it go up either.

the Dempsey/Richtofen quote about pics or it didn't happen likely actually supports this theory and was meant as a red herring. the 'something' Dempsey mentions is likely not the summoning key, like many people assumed (and treyarch probably intended this red herring). the object was probably something to do with the blood vials or something else entirely

if richtofen was in the key as-well being in there before the other 1.0 characters he could of been killed by the shadow man and the others survived or the shadow man and richtofen worked with each other and escaped from the summoning key and he may have got blood when he was by his body and did something with them then they went back after the zns ee

Gorod krovi happened before the giant, richtofen says "we have to get nikolai's soul and then mine's is next" or something like that btw he always says that at the start of the of the first round on gorod krovi.

A few of Dr. Monty's quotes come to mind. The one about not telling Richtofen that he has been their the while time for one. Another is the whole idea you had where one of his quotes was breaking the 4th wall, that one being the one about if it wasn't their in the game and you found it, it never existed. That could have been him saying that if we just never saw that Richtofen's soul wasn't there, then there would never be any thing to say otherwise.

Milo, the shadows of evil cipher didn't have the coordinates for The Giant. It was Der Eisendrache, Zetsubou no Shima, Gorod Krovi, and an unknown location(presumed to be Revelations). The Giant was not mentioned in the cipher at all

There is only one thing i dont understand about the coordinates on the SoE paper. One of the locations was Der Eisndraken (or however you spell it), yet at the time Richthofen teleported to the giant, Dempsy 1.0 wasn't at the castle, he was being moved away from the giant which caused the origins crew to follow in a mech. The castle only happened to be the location of where they took the soul.

so question: what allows richtofen and the group to teleport to other dimensions with the shadows of evil style portal? obviously not the summoning key since richtofen uses one such portal to obtain said key. they also teleport in this manner at the end of zetsubou to get the blood vials.

I remember watching a treyarch interview where it was said that ricthophen after killing himself, ate his entrails. maybe, and this is just from my own thoughts, maybe that in the giant, it wasn't actually the 1.0 version of ricthophen

milo there is a possibility that reckthoven 2.0 got the scrap from the 1.0 version and went to shadows of evil and realised that the apothicons are envading shadows so has put the summinig key in a crat to protect it and scraped the map here we are

mylo, what if giant is where the cycle repeats due to the motd vials. Demsey says to Richtofen how many times are we gonna do this; however how would Demsey have known about teleportation at that point in the storyline. Also the Motd plane is crashed at the giant maybe fore shadowing.

i think hes in a loop like mob of the dead because he had to go to mob of the dead to get the blood viles and also in the giant he says "everytime i do this i lose a piece of my soul"

Would be very cool to play as the kids I don't know why but I think there quotes would be very much be asking what's happening and then the souls of the older ones kind of guide them to be like the origin characters

If the intro for revelations is the origins crew going from the little toys into actual people in front of Eddie and Samantha, then it would be the best intro ever

Interesting theory, Since Gorod ties in references to the transit crew, what if the origins crew attempts to seek out the transit crew in a post-buried map since a powerful Richtofen still exists if his ending is chosen in which he possesses one of the characters. Possibly Richtofen is seeking out that soul instead?

Hey milo, call this a longshot, but do you think that the reason why richtofen's soul isn't in the summoning key is because he is in fact the 1.0 version of himself is a zombie himself. Just think about it for a bit you see little images on the giant and in the jumpscare on SoE. And this could be possible because the Der riese factory is filled with element 115. So Richtofen spent years trying to find the right versions of dempsey takeo and nickoli says monty on gorod krovi,what happened to the not perfect versions?I think Richtofen went to morg city before he came across the right crew and while he was searching for the right crew he went through multiple other crews and he collected the souls for those crews.He gave the old souls to maxis in the easter egg and he still has the 1.0 souls of the whole crew including himself.

I think Rictophen couldn't send his soul because he is the soul they need the origins version that we are currently with and that was the thing that Maxis said he hadn't told him and Rictophen is aware of the this and believes the blood would protect him

I just thought of a reason the rictofens soul has not been collected Normally the sommuning sometimes floats when a soul is collected but every time a soul is collected it glowing and when he is near the body there in no glow.

Milo, I feel as if that since the cutscene ended right after the souls went up and Monty states that Rictofen has been in the house or is in the house already is it possible that Eddie in the Origins cutscene is actually Rictofen which could possibly lead to the reasoning why his soul doesnt go up?

Since we know that Shadow Man's soul was collected yet he didn't release it, in addition to what Richthofen said at the end of DE's Easter Egg ending cutscene that he did the same thing to his old self. Therefore, there might be another reason to why he didn't release his soul yet.

@ MrRoflWaffles Theory what if the Richthofen on the Giant was collected and origins Richthofen used him to trick the crew into killing their older selves, but there is another world at war zombies in the multiverse that is being explored.

He could at the end sacrifice himself at the end to save Maxis when he faces dr month also saving Dempsy, Takeo and Nikolai

While in The Giant we sort of meet up with Maxis in Der Eisendrache and Zetsobou no shima we a not able to contact him so maybe Richtofens soul has already been sent to Maxis back in the Giant and Jason just didnt showed us that to mess with us.
