I feel for you.....The loss of parents-finalizing estate, Covid, marriage/complicated immigration, family and pet. I sponsored my husband from the U.K. which obviously has positive ties with Canada. It was a long challenging process and he too was harassed at the border. I cant imagine what you are going through given the current situation. Anyone questioning you and the length of process is obviously quite sheltered and ignorant to how things work in this world. You are a brave soul!!! Stay strong.

We use both Cyrillic and Alphabet equally. We're the only country that does so, but all official documents must be in Cyrillic. This duality dates back to the time of Yugoslavia. And where the film crew went, you can see a small church in the background, with a blue/green roof - it's a Russian church.

It's great you're finally free! While I'm so sad you have to leave your country behind, it's for the best. I can totally relate to what you're telling about crossing the border. I wasn't "interrogated" too much, but in anticipation I tried to wipe my devices and delete all "suspicious" stuff and rehearsing what I would reply to different crazy questions before getting to the passport control. It's a fever dream! We are still guaranteed the freedom of movement by the law, but I guess the law is only a law when it's convenient for the govt.
