Hi lovely friends. I hope you are all doing really well. Do you have any style tips on how to update your look to feel younger? I've deliberately not gone into the beauty territory as my focus is on style but your tips could be anything you would like to share! Lots of love. Deirdre. XX
Hi Deidre! May I add another point? Whatever style footwear you choose please protect your feet. I have undergone surgery to my feet because of wearing flat sandals and heels and unsupported sneakers. Please try to ensure that whatever you wear has some support to your arch. This is so important. There are arch support styles for most shoes except heels. Then we .ust just treat them as "hotel shoes". Wear them when you get there! Completely flat sandals are terrible for your feet and can lead to permanent and difficult to fix foot problems. There are alternatives. Archies do a great range of flip flops and sliders with arch support. Sketchers do great sneakers with support. Hope you don't mind this comment but I have learned the hard way being a child of the 70s!
Nothing should offend anyone, we should try our very best everyday to look our best and that's different for everybody, but it helps self esteem. Thanks for all the tips!
Girlfriend how could anyone be offended by your videos.they’re wonderful. You always give us such great and helpful ideas. I love everything you show. You always look gorgeous. Give my love to Scott. Love you both. Have an awesome week. Blessings Hugs Love Victoria ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Deirdre !! I'll add "wear a suitable underwear!" A nice bra that have a effective support and doesn't cut you in the back or underarms, a smoothing panthy... Because if it doesn't look good "under", it can't look good above, whatever the clothing
Deirdre I would love to try a jumpsuit too as they can look very glam - however I just couldn't cope with the problems they bring when one wants to use the toilet!!
Thank you for your styling tips, tricks and "secrets" Deirdre! Finding your channel has given me a new lease of life, as I had got into a serious rut after retiring from my job in a busy office, and going through lockdown where I had to isolate etc. I had got stuck in baggy shapeless comfy clothes that looked drab, boring and frumpy. Since watching your channel I have started to come back to the stylish woman I used to be! However, I do think you are brave for trying a jumpsuit! I tried one years ago and all was going well until I had to use the loo.... Trying to get in and out of it successfully, without stretching the neck out of shape and looking like I've been pushed through a hedge backwards, is an art I just don't have! So since then I've steered very clear of those and also onesies, they may be comfy but not for me! Keep up the good work! XX
Aww, thank you so so much for your lovely comments. If I can help in just a small way, that makes me so happy. I’m thinking twice about that jumpsuit, though, to be honest!! Xx
I don’t think there’s anything I wouldn’t try…I’m pretty open when it comes to style. I don’t get pulled into trends completely but I always find a few that I love! The only thing I can think of would be sleeveless or off the shoulder tops and dresses because I’m self-conscious of my upper arms. Great list of things to consider. Love your channel! Have a fabulous day!
Hello Deirdre! Actually loved all your tips. No controversy from me! Something new for me is going from high rise jeans to mid rise. I always thought the higher ones would hide my tummy, but when I would sit down, the top would fold over uncomfortably!! Mid rise for me!!
The same thing happens to my high rise jeans when I sit down. I think the reason it does that is I am post menopausal and have a bit of a tube around my waist. UGH!
@@patriciaforan4789 Just part of aging. I'm way past menopause, and happy to have made it this far!! I think we all have the jelly roll in the middle by now!
@DC: Will be 76 years old this year (somewhat slender and 5'5" in height) and the high rise doesn't work for me either as find them horridly uncomfortable in the midriff section.
Dresses and skirts are so much more comfortable than trousers or shorts, but that’s only the first reason I love them. They also feel (and look) so feminine, I love the swishy feel on my legs. Unless required by a specific activity, skirt outfits and dresses are always what I wear. I just wear tall socks (at home) or tights and boots (to go out) in the winter. We rarely have to contend with snow where I live, the San Francisco Bay Area, and daytime temperatures rarely get much colder than the 40s Fahrenheit, it’s generally in the 50s. Lastly, I love to show off my legs. Love your channel, Deirdre❤
Looking fabulous in your outfits coming out of my comfort zone would be wearing a blazer my favorite outfit is wearing dresses in all styles and i definitely need a pair of white sneakers i use to enjoy wearing alot of black clothing but now I'm really into colors especially those that matches my caramel complexion I'll be trying some of these tips because i enjoy looking youthful but also dress age appropriate but stylish thank u
Loved the video and all the tips. You are great at showing tasteful ways to do the updates. My hardest thing as I have grown older is to show more skin. Using my wrist, lower arms and ankles is a great suggestion and easy to do
I loved your M&S slingback shoes with their ankle grazer so much that I bought them. I got the shoes in black too. They’re absolutely comfy and gorgeous. Loved the whole look. Very young and stylish look
.. Well I do avoid “old lady” clothes .. .. it’s just where the hem hits you .. and avoid prints and fabric that reads “mature” on me .. I’m really careful with pearls, lace, flower prints and even animal prints unless I can balance it somewhat with something a bit edgy in the outfit .. I find that a blend of classy, clean, comfortable and a little bit of fun is my go to 😀
Such useful tips Deirdre. Everyone can cherry pick what applies to them. I love a blazer with cut off trousers/jeans…..always a winner. Love the white H & M blazer with those “car to bar “ high heels👍 I also haven’t got a jumpsuit as yet, but funnily enough I’m waiting for a Danni Minogue one to be delivered to see how it looks….I’m celebrating my golden wedding next month and want it for a little party we’re having…..let you know if I keep it….or not. Loved today’s suggestions and will be filtering what suits me. Many thanks. 🌸
I’m 63 and still wear “mini” skirts, they’re pretty close to knee-length on me. My sister talked me into wearing again the ones I had in my closet. She was right, my legs look great, thanks ancestors for your DNA. Even in my teens and 20s, I never went shorter than mid-thigh, I’m on the modest side and don’t want to be stressed about showing too much.
Frankly, I don’t go for the whole look younger thing in our youth obsessed society. I’ve just turned 55 and I love looking older (seeing as for most of my life I looked younger than my age and detested it). I’m fine with the greying hair and the odd wrinkles. I do however would like to dress more stylish but not necessarily younger, just a bit more chic like the “older chooks.” I’m embracing my age.
I really enjoyed your video and would say that sneakers with outfits ( dresses and trousers) are definitely out of my comfort zone. I can't do the stilettos but I think heels and some flats go better with the outfit look. Waiting for an outfit that I can style with sneakers and feel beautiful. Of course, athleisure is perfect for the sneakers😊.
Hi Deirdre! I like the looks of those M&S trousers. As I will be in London next week I'm going to look for them (if they're still available)! Thanks and love all your looks!!
Loved your video about feeling younger I luv blazers I have just bought two I luv them I am 70 but I don't feel it taken on board all your hints luv watching you ❤❤❤
Deidre, you are probably one of the best well spoken, RU-vid fashion ladies out there… I can tell that you have done corporate presenting and training… And you really are at smart chickie in the way that you deliver your information… I have to say, I think that Bode and dress looks spectacular on you. It hits you at all the right places and is so slimming and elongating for you!
Thank you so much 🤗 I really appreciate your lovely comments. Yes, I have done a lot of training and presenting in the past, as well as teaching. You are so right! XX
As usual, your videos are packed with great tips. Thanks for sharing your marvelous ideas. Until recently I always wore closed toe shoes because of my high arches and high heals are out for me. As far as trying out my comfort zone, I am trying strappy sandals. I love that there are comfortable and stylish sandals available now with arch support!
Great ideas and especially trying something out of our comfort zone. I would add attitude. It's versatile, always with you and can enhance anything you wear if you think "I'm rockin this outfit and everyone knows it." 💖
As always love your style Deirdre. I went shopping yesterday at Macys & much to my delight i found a couple of great new tops to update my outfits. Thank you for making my day Deirdre ❤
It’s funny you mentioned ‘comfort zone’. I really want to experiment with blazers, but I’m not sure how they should fit. I prefer the way you’ve styled your blazer as opposed to the ‘oversized’ look I see women wearing. I started small and stepped out of my comfort. I saw a nautical blue blazer in one of your videos and I bought one on sale. I’ll take it to my tailor for alterations because I want to make sure fits properly. Wish me luck. 😊 Love this video.
Trying to wear blazers are out of my comfort zone so that will be something new this fall for me thank you I look forward to all your videos for us mature women
Same here. I always think they're too dressy to wear with jeans and therefore never reach for them. I'm going to have to step out of my comfort zone for sure!
For those on a budget, Walmart has a tank dress like the dark caramel one. If memory serves me, it is Time and Tru brand. I don't think they have that lovely color though.
That's great tips deidriethank you. . I have lost bit of confidence in style. And outfits ? but you definitely have helped me to get myself back on track . A bit 🤗 Simple styles without looking old fashioned or matronly.. i like to turn jeans up at ankle it helps as im 5.2.❤❤
I loved this video so much! Jumping out of my comfort zone?? Umm, blazers! I’m shy of reclaiming the feeling when working downtown. Do certain pieces jar anyone’s memories?
Love your videos! I just bought a couple of jumpsuits. While they are fun and comfortable, they are a bit of a challenge to use the bathroom in, especially when not at home.
Thank you Deirdre for another inspirational video. I love your friendly presentation, as I feel ‘encouraged’ to consider what feels comfortable / right wearing and not being pushed into a particular style. After all at our age many of us have a comfort zone, but still want to feel ‘updated’ without looking overdone! In this video my styling-to-try is the M&S navy trousers (which I have but not yet worn) with the deep khaki top 👍🏾 Will check out the shoes too. Looking forward to the next one 👏🏽
I love your videos and this one is great! I am changing all my style, getting rid of many things that are totally out of fashion and keeping (or rescuing) the ones that I can wear and style differently. Rest assure that your videos are making an impact on other women!! I retired from teaching 1 and a half year ago and that makes me wear comfortable clothes at home and then, if I have to go run an errand, then I stay in those clothes. Not anymore! We must go out of the house put together and looking stylish, especially when we are single. Thanks for your videos. I am sharing them with friends who need to watch them.
Aww, that’s so lovely. I’m so happy to be able to help. I used to be a secondary school teacher, many years ago. You REALLY deserve your retirement! Lots of love. Xx
Great tips from you as usual...I'm very open when it comes to styles and trends, but jumpsuits are a no-go for me. As well as the long dresses with the cutouts on the waist. But you did turn me over into wearing sleeveless tops again. I was very self conscious about my arms but gotten a bit over it now and feeling fabulous 😊thanks for that
Deidre, you’ve done it again for me. I love your style. I do have a question though. You showed that beautiful boucle jacket in white and my question is wearing that after what we called Labor Day here in the states . I was always taught that you shouldn’t wear white after Labor Day. What are your thoughts?
Deidre, you always look great. I love bright vibrant colors, however, can Barbie Pink, lime green, purple or neon orange colors be carried through other seasons in pop touches and with what other color combinations tastefully and how?
Hi to everyone. I have recently recreated the white blazer outfit with white sneakers and it was amazing. Also, something new I have already tried is the denim jacket which I haven't worn it for ages. Lovely ideas from this video! Congatulations!
QUESTION: could you do a video about hats? I was recently diagnosed with photophobia so hats are a must every day. I can’t stand indoor lights or outdoor sun! But I feel like I look ridiculous in my hats. 😅P.S. I love your videos and am living for your tips, Dierdre! Lots of love ❤
Hey, Wear any hat you like! Fedora hats are very on fashion now. Caps are also very comfortable and many women wear them. I have them in many colors. Ultimately, you are the one who has to feel comfortable and happy!
@@raisafrancisco7323 thank you so much for your reply. I think I will try a fedora, I hadn’t thought of that. I think it takes a lot of self esteem to wear a hat, and I’m also working on that! Xo
Can you talk a little more about what constitutes a modern jean wash or details? I’ve been seeing more mixed-wash denim (which I think looks cool) but otherwise I’m not sure what’s new. Thank you!
Hello Deidre, thank you so much for your videos. Fun and informative. Im glad you mentioned showing wrists. What do you think about 3/4 sleeves? I love me a 3/4 sleeve in spring/summer but some videos say that they're aging.
Loved all the tips. Loved the sleeveless top you are wearing but my arms aren’t as good a shape as yours. You must exercise to keep them in shape. Well done for a great video x
HI Hilary. Do you know what? I started to exercise them (as I felt they were too flabby) literally 10 days ago! They didn't look like this before! Just shows what a change that can be, so quickly. All I do is 1kg weights 20 times!! It's that simple. XX
Hi Deidre, great tips as per usual!!!! so glad youre wearing some trendy Aussie sunglasses "Good on You"....I wear sunglasses a lot, living in Oz you have to & I want to protect my eyes...I even wear them when it is not sunny I dont like the Glare!!!!...I purchased some really comfy nice white sneakers recently...I paid a little more for them but I cant do cheap shoes anymore its just false economy I have to be comfortable in footwear!!!...I must say I am not a big fan of jeans, I never seem to find any that suit me to be honest!!...I prefer black/navy/white pants....if I could find a pair of flattering jeans I would give them a try.....thanks once again deidre for your effort & amazing tips.......from Margaret.....South Australia..
Loving this video and all of your amazing styling tips Deirdre! And I’m considering the Veja sneakers as well. I see you love Tommy Bahama as do I! May I recommend two other brands I am obsessed with which I think you will be as well? Everlane!!!! Sustainable and beautiful! Also Lilly Pulitzer-I love their linen dresses and gold sandals and the silk blouses and linen tops too! I am also loving their skorts and maxi dresses!
Hi there. Thank you so much for those 2 brand suggestions. I already love Everlane but need to include them more in my recommendations. I’m not as familiar with Lilly Pulitzer, so I’ll have a look. I think we have a lot of our style likes in common! Xx
@@50FabulouswithMyFriendDeirdre I believe we DO have many styles in common! Great news for me!! And thank you for all your suggestions! I’ve been channeling your “skinny top” from Massimo Dutti today all about town and today I learned a few more brands from you! I’m excited about Aspiga, Nobody’s Child, Quay and John Lewis! Ty again for all your wonderful content and fabulous personality. Love seeing you on my tele! 😘
Hi Deirdra! I always love your videos. You are so elegant and classically stylish. Can you please tell me where I can find the white dress you feature close to the beginning of the video? It has long sleeves and blue flowers. Thank you so much!
I love sunglasses but can’t wear contacts anymore. This means I’m stuck with Rx sunglasses which are more expensive to update. I’m hoping to have 1 glam, 1 sporty, and 1 conservative pair - but in timeless styles if there is such a thing. Is this possible or will I look dated if I try and extend the wear of my Rxs?
