I own a gecko, Houdini a 23 years old male, and another lizard, a Hardun male, 21 year old Smaug, that I own since they are two month old, both are healthy and active. I only want to ad one thing Leopardgeckos could burn themselve if the headspot is to near to the ground, their skin is much more sensitive than from other desert reptiles. To avoid that, take care of the max temperatur 3 cm above the ground at the nearest spot to the heatlamp. And ad a cold daylight lamp that give real sunlight during the day, especially if you have a young one.

I have a linear uvb on both my geckos which acts as there sun and the heat spot is above the recommended inches from how far it should be so it doesn’t cause burns! Thank you so much for taking the time to give me some helpful information tho! My youngest is a year old, still young but no so much a baby.

I do have a question about the d3 supplements, i just found out/was told that if you use d3 vitamins you shouldn't use the uvb light. Now my question is , is the uvb necessary if i feed my leo with D3 (Repashy multivitamin and also a calcium + d3)

UVB is always necessary even with feeding d3 supplements. As ur geckos get older u can limit down how much d3 you’re providing. Once a week with d3 is how I supply it to all my older guys and they do great!

i want to get a leopard gecko and make a really cool long and shallow 60 gallon desert tank but it just seems like so much responsibility to feed regulate temperature and all that and i have so many questions that i can find answers for like i love to keep my room cold 19-22 celsius 66-71farenheight and will that affect the tank temperature? and so many more

If you purchase a thermal temperature gun it will be able to tell you the temp of the basking surface, it shouldn’t affect the tank and if it does u can always raise ur heat bulb to a higher output one. One of the biggest things I say is don’t get a reptile if you’re not ready for the responsibility. These guys will eat at least every 3 days and that’s for a full grown gecko if u went with smaller they could eat anywhere from daily to every other day it all depends on size and age. The 60 gallon sounds like a dream for them so if u have the space I’d 100% go for it and get the 60 I have 50 gallons for all mine. Once u get the temp down it’s honestly something u don’t and shouldn’t have to worry about ever again it’s always good to double check ur temps are still good every now and again but normally they stay pretty decent. Always pay attention in the different seasons and winter months could make ur tank colder and you may need more heat as summer may make it too hot and u may need less

Leopard geckos are not arboreal nor partially arboreal. They just enjoy climbing on rocky hillsides and textures, so giving them branches is great but they aren’t found in the wild on trees, lol. But other than that, this is a good care guide! 👍🏼👍🏼

I have a girl too, I have to ask a question. Did you ever deal with arm pit bubbles? I’ve had mine for a year now and I’m wondering if it’s because she’s hitting maturity.

Mine has actually just started having some bubbles and my thought is that I’m providing a little too much calcium with d3 so I’ll be cutting down on that massively!!!

Maybe yours could be going thru the same thing? My girls 7 years old so she’s gone thru her maturity and has been fully grown for a few years now.

@@arrisreptiles I could imagine it’s very easy to over supplement, I’ve just laid off completely on the supplements this last month, it could be her morph type too, she’s a shtct and it seems their bodies are more bulky
