It's possible to get the map running on virtual devices. It requires the emulator to have Google Play Services installed. 1. Go to the SDK Manager by clicking Tools -> Android > SDK Manager 2. Click the SDK Tools tab and check in the Google Play Services Tab. 3. Hit apply and let the Play Services Install. 4. Go to your build.grade (Module: app) file in your Gradle Scripts and add the compile line: compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-maps:YourVersionOfGoolgePlayServicesHereIfItsNot-10.2.6'' 5. Run the Maps Activity in the emulator and it should be working!

Thanks for this great tutorial priyanka. I created this project and key on my PC and it works fine, the app loads successfully on phone and it loads the map as well. But when I gave the same android project to my friend to try building on his PC, the app which got generated, it loads successfully on the phone but the google maps doesn't loads, it shows blank screen all the time. What is going wrong here?
