I just wanted to say I started FFXIV like a week or two ago and powered my way through A Realm Reborn and your guides for the Crystal Tower are so fantastic thank you for doing them (and for the other raids too). They were infinitely more useful than the older guides thank you so much.
At the second fight, instead of using return after activatiting the first node, you can walk into the barrier, die, and you also return to the start of the dungeon.
To share some perspective on anyone doing this in 2022 (Endwalker) or beyond: I did this as a lvl 80 DRK with crafted ilvl 515 gear I bought from the market board (I happen to be at the beginning of Stormblood, but got to 80 anyways through dungeons, raids and pvp). When I got to these bosses, I almost remembered what I had watched on this video, but for the most part just went in like an ape, smashed some buttons until they died. Coeurl boss, I would remember daughters had to die first, but I still got the paralyze -and save the minor annoyance of having to press a button twice or thrice for the ability to go off, I didn't even notice it was there. Same would be true for the boss' abilities -if they did anything, I never found out. On the hydra boss, I sorta panicked when the nodes showed up -I remembered they had damage type resistances, but didn't remember which one did I have to kill first. And I think in the end, I didn't kill any in time, so they merged and I had a big ball doing stuff while hydra was invulnerable. Big ball wouldn't die because it had some sort of regen that, together with resistances, would nullify all damage I could do to it. I was stuck there, where nothing would hit me hard enough to even tickle my health, and I couldn't kill anything either... Until at some point, hydra's inv wore off, and I just bursted it down in no time. So tl;dr, as a lvl 80, ilvl 515 tank, all mechanics are pretty much ignorable. That said, thanks Micah for these wonderful guides!
This. Solo'd Kaliya on bard. Phase 3 comes - wondered why my ranged attacks kept whiffing on an invincible shield. Wiped a few times before I figured out you gotta get close to do damage.
