Pat! Kind of nerdy, but the 3 money boosting items are 3 straigh lines: net_profit = boost * base_money - cost If you plot them you will see 3 points where the lines cross: when amulet coin is the better option (below 110k I think), for 75% (around 220k) and for 100% (over 220k non boosted money). This means that, unless you can guarantee a base earning of more than 220k (around 26 gyms), the best option is the +75% charm

I've been loving Crobat as a tailwind setter, immune to flinches and outspeeds everything. If Torkoal does get flinched, Crobat can Super Fang something tanky down to half guaranteeing the explosion K0 2nd turn or use Air Cutter as AoE to break Focus Sashes. Ive used both at lv100 for a while now.

I’ve adapted my own route from this and I find that starting at skyla is slightly better. Set up teleport to striation and then do the gym puzzle, pop the amulet coin or charm before skyla and then you can do 9 of the 10 gym fights in unova. I also do burgh last so you can bike straight from beating him to the boat to kanto. It’s also kinda crazy that riches charm isn’t really worth it over amulet coin atm since they’ve gotten so expensive

I love weird sets optimized for PvE like this. My run is slightly less optimized I would say, I include Morimoto & Cynthia when I can and also try some other stuff. I'm at a consistent 250~ pokedollars You also have the HM friend, the pokemon optimized for catching (false swipe, synchronize) During the 10th anniversary event we had the special walls + togekiss combo. I'm mostly a PvP player so I'm always fascinated by Pokemon finding utility in PvE situation, it's like every Pokemon has his opportunity to shine, it's so cool. Typhlosion is typically not used at all in PvP but is a total beast with Eruption in PvE
@Xeculies yeah it's just 500k tho Atleast when i bought it idk much abt now since the ocarina market is quite ... Unstable I would recommend doing some gym reruns without blastoises (you have a room for the flyer) and then after you stock up about 500k buy one and start this method ez
For Morimoto/Cynthia, I use low level Geodude, Pineco, Magnemite & Cottonee. Can also use Pineco for Toxic Spikes, but poison types absorb those upon entry, removing them from the field. Geodude: Rocky Helmet Sturdy Stealth Rock Pineco: Rocky Helmet Sturdy Spikes Magnemite: Sturdy Light Clay Reflect/Light Screen (depending on if the current enemy mon is Physical or Sp Attacker) Cottonee: Prankster Rocky Helmet Tailwind Sigilyph: Bold Magic Guard Toxic Orb 252 EVs HP/Def 2x31 HP/Def Cosmic Power Roost Stored Power Psycho Shift or Miracle Eye Cosmic power x2 Roost Cosmic power x2 Roost Stored Power until W Its lengthy & prolly inefficient but I don't have any other strats. Am open to ideas.
You can speed this run a bit further, by following the Stration Gym concept in Kanto. Re-arrange your Kanto Gym's order as follows: Pewter (Brock) (Here's the time save) Cerulean - Misty (setup as normal) Celadon - Erika (NO heal no set up, she sets up for you w/ Drought Ninetails) Cinnabar - Blaine (No heals, use blaistoise) (I use Kingdra/Salamance *) (End of time save) Fuschia - Koga Vermillion - Surge --> Boat. * My Kingdra/salamance uses similar strat as the Blastoise. Kingdra (Spd/Sp.atk IV 31), Raindance/Surf/Ice Beam/HydroPump (Mystic Water) (Swift Swim) Salamance (Same IVs) Fly/Break Break/Rock Slide/Dragon Dance Kingdra Opens with Rain Dance, Salamance out speeds and uses Fly, (The AI will always target salamance with HP Ice OR Fire blast b/c Kingdra takes 4x LESS damage from fire and neutral from ice.) Both of their attacks will miss the salamance that is in the air (hopefully) Kingdra uses surf, and due to rain outspeeds salamance and sweeps. If something survives (it happens), salamance finishes it off by coming down from fly. Rinse repeat. Salamance will take a hit from surf but survive. The enemy pkmn never target kingdra until salamance is down allowing her to sweep. In some occassions, salamance can use brick break (against blissey for example) I happened to have these two mons by happenstance and had to use this strat when your last gym run vid was new due to the flash fire mons. I'm now looking into getting the Blastoise's. Thanks for your vids!
We need more PokeMMO content creators like patrouski! Tailwind (Cotton+Whimsi) + Drought (Torkoal) Typhlosion x2 Flash Fire killers x2 (Usually EQ+Flying) or in this case 2 Blastoise is the staple! - - - - - However for you other new players that want an even cheaper option or just something different, Tailwind (Cotton+Whimsi) + Drizzle (Pelipper) Octillery x2 (Water Sprout / Ice Beam / Bullet Seed) *Mystic Water or something to hit harder Although it requires Water Sprout as egg move but it's easy to make with Wailmer.
There's an alternative to the fly ocarina, and it's using prankster Murkrow with tailwind and fly, saves A LOT of money, HA Murkrow is around 10K in the GTL and breeding with any ditto keeps the ability so the Murkrow would be perfect

Thanks for the tips! I just finished the Elite Four and am wrapping up the Sevii Islands. Not too worried about breeding and catching everything yet, gonna buy the starters for Johto and do that region next!

I've been praying around with the idea of not running suicide leads and I think I'm getting somewhere. I've come to realize that only one of tailwind or sunlight is needed to win gym battles (when pairing typhlosion with a porygon). I've started including cloud nine golduck and tailwind archeops (I might consider another mon that is more resilient) in my runs. My current lineup is Typlosion x 2/porygonz/archeops/golduck/jellicient. Against water gyms I can open with archeops and golduck. Archeops gets targeted by opponents so it protects itself while golduck uses mind plate boosted synchronoise. The following turn archeops uses tailwind and a second synchronoise finishes the 1st wave off. The rest of the gym I deal with using wide lens boosted rock slide and synchronoise. Against ground/rock teams I open with water absorb scarfed jellicient and golduck. I clear waves using golduck's surf and jellicient's water spout. If I run into a cradily golduck uses worry seed on it before jellicient.

Great team! Managed to get in another gym and the 2 trainers in the shopping mall in unova (≈30k) , using scripts to remove gym leader/pokecenter dialogue.
Alright, changed the route based on comments here. First Day was ok, forgot where some gyms where in the city (Unova region) and lost some time xD But was ok, made 266,760 I don't have sinnoh yet, so I added Saffron, mauville and gonna add Mistralton as start tomorrow. I also downloaded a tool called 'livesplit' that is the program that speed runners use for the timings. It's easy to setup, even without guides. I set my Fly key as the "next segment" key, as soon as I fly in the game, it will jump to the next segment, kinda cool, at least to start out.
If you have connections with the devs of the game, I will propose to add a section called abilities in the GTL. I had to scroll so many listing to find cottonee with prankster. There are too many cottonee with infiltrator abilities.
Dragon gym leader iris also have two starter pokemon serperior and samurot, sometimes they can do a "pledge combo moves" make our field become a swamp and lowering our team speed very harshly, even after setting tailwind. Thankfully, its rare to see this they doing pledge combos. Just be careful, always bring some revive to anticipate those condition. Edited after finished watching: i just realized that u can log out and reset like Pat said. So i think if you face this pledge combos, better to log out than desperately using revive.
I do Morimoto with my gym run team-just start off with Torkoal, then Eruption, if Jolteon or Dugtrio I switch to Krookodile, I haven’t had the money to get Blastoise yet. Then just either throw out tailwind and beat the Mew or his other fast Pokémon and Eruption for the win!
This is a pretty nice setup. The only thing I dislike with such setups is that if you use 2 low level pokemon as an opener you are down to 4 for the actual battles, meaning you have to likely avoid a gym or two in some regions as you said. But that's just my personal preference as I prefer a fully functional team of 6 high levels. Personally for 6v6 double battles I like to make what I call pokemon al qaeda. Which is a sniper kingdra with surf and draco meteor, a water absorb lapras with reflect and rain dance (the lightning rod of the setup as it's usually a priority target over kingdra) and four gengars (which also get targeted over kingdra most of the time) with destiny bond and endure. Then you can rain dance (or reflect depending on circumstances) on turn 1 (and the other on turn 2) or you can use a dire hit on kingdra with lapras' turn if you really need to get off that turn 1 sweep, or x speed if you worry an enemy dragon type will outspeed you (which is extremely rare). Then if/when lapras dies the gengars start coming out single file, where they nuke down pokemon and then suicide on a full health one. Enduring once every 2 turns or so just to tank a surf (as well as all enemy attacks on that turn in case of sturdy or focus sash). With this setup it doesn't even matter if by some miracle lapras gets wiped out before even using a single move making you lose out on your weather effect, because even without rain dance the damage and sustain (not to mention suicide bombing) is just too much for the enemy to keep up with. Same if kingdra is the first to die, the gengars more than pick up the slack. Never need to skip a gym, never need more than 1 try, and doable within the 3 amulet coins' time limit. Last time I timed my run I was at kanto & hoenn cleared with 2 minutes to spare on the first coin. So if all goes well a 5 region rerun with 3 coins should be doable, but worst case scenario you can still clear 4. 1x Kingdra Razor claw item Modest nature Max sp.atk ev / max spd ev Surf / Draco Meteor / Flash Cannon (or Ice Beam) / Focus Energy 1x Lapras Leftovers item Modest nature (can be timid) Max sp.atk ev (hp instead if timid) / max spd ev Surf / Frost Breath (or Thunder) / Reflect / Rain Dance 4x Gengar Focus sash item Timid nature (can be modest) Max sp.atk ev / max spd ev Shadow Ball / Sludge Bomb / Endure / Destiny Bond gg ez
Great video I love your content thank you for doing it I have a critique, maybe let people know this guide is just for the 1 hour rerun I’ve just finished unova then started running it everyday I haven’t had any problems running just the set-up into typhos even in the fire part of the first gym and I started using them at 82. I bred 1 and bought a blastoise before watching the whole thing cause I figured prices were gonna shoot up because at the start you made it seem like the gyms you were talking about were impossible with typhos while I don’t know about all gyms the fire one for sure can be done with just them just takes more time.
the whimsicott should die even without CB and ur not really gonna ever do too much dmg with the explosion to matter against the other 2 gym leaders pokes, ur just looking to break focus sashes.
Great and Cheap team for sure beside the Eggmove thing. I usually start at Morimoto and do cynthia aswell because they both give over 50k together with amulet coin my current ( 1st team ) is moxie based which also makes you lose like 3sec per procc which gets annoying for sure but gives alot of security with no setup. 20 gyms in 1 hour is crazy Im usually able to do like the 2 hardest trainers my favourite rich trainers and arround 10 gyms if ii dont missplay it. which gets me arround 250k with amulet coin ill do another Trainer Run i set up for ~150k in 50mins with my cloyster but i might pass on that with this team :) my future plans is to start at the champion of a chosen E4 which gives like 100k with the 75% gold buff but that needs some really good preparation and lets you hit like 500k - 800k an hour with preset Teams.
i just did my first gym rerun. My run was cursed from the beginning to the end. my cottonee leveled from 1 to 24 but the fights were all easy, even with some mistakes on my side because of the first time. but there are way more stupid cases that can occure than just the flash fire mons. e.g. i had a smeargle at castellia gym, that spore my torkoal turn 1.
in unova I begin at the Flying type gym, then without having to heal I do normal type with blastoise and without healing to I do the bug type with typhlosion. I think this is a better begining idk what you think
I built this team and tried the route out today and boy was it rough lol. At castelia they lead with a smeargle and heracross. smeargle spored my torkoal, turn 2 i switch manually, and both of the mons were focus sashed so the single eruption couldnt clean up. And then because the torkoal i went in with was lv1 I had to sit threw it trying to learn a bunch of new moves lol. Thanks for the vid, it was honestly time i get a consistent money maker going.
Sorry to hear u had such a tough time :c ive never had tht happen to me personally at castelia city but i could totally see it happening, definitely a few rng things tht are out of ur control and u just gotta try ur best to clean up. sometimes if a fight is fucked, ill just end up logging out, relogging and not connecting to current session to get sent back to the PC and then go retry the fight, hope this helps!
Also explosion torkoal would be perfect on my higher level torkoal because of the 0 iv in speed very interesting stuff always get excited from your videos to try out some pro strats!!! keep em coming pat 💚
You don't have to care about the teleport, or start in nacrene. Even when you start in straiton and do it normally without a teleport, and add in sabrina, there's still always over 4-5 minutes remaining. It's only needed if you are playing on a phone, or using only one hand. So, if you want to use your time more efficiently, make sure to add driftveil and sabrina into your routes at the very least!
I think i'm gonna start doing this strat, trying to do all gyms all day in 2h is a bit too much, i also never new that you could do all 3 gym leaders in Striation on the same day, that's huge. I have tried the Johto gyms as well, they are mostly quite fast, i wonder how the meta route changes with them accounted

I use 3x31 Typl(one timid(choice spec and one modest charcoal),dragonair(3x31) and seismotold(5x31)...having tailwind i blow the flash mond with 2xsurf :) (atm i have unova,kanto and sinnoh) [i am new so took me 2 hours for this 3 regions)
I have a question. Do you think it would be worth it to teleport to the pokemon center you were just at, then fly to the next city and run straight to the gym? Ex. You just finished the Castelia Gym, you fly to Nimbasa City to heal real quick, and you beat the Nimbasa City gym. Would it be faster to teleport to the Nimbasa pokemon center to heal, then fly to Driftveil and run straight to the gym? I know this sounds a little nit-picky so forgive me, I was just curious.
Since johto was released i used this strategy on all the gym leaders and it seems you can do all of them except Blackthorn(Kingdra), ECRUTEAK(Cursed Body Gengar), and Azalea(slow gym puzzle + t-tar)

I'd like to suggest: if you don't have a teleport ocarina you can actually use Xatu instead of Cottonee, Xatu knows both tailwind and teleport, you can bind xatu's teleport
not having prankster to give xatu the priority to setup tailwind is pretty brutal tho, which means u need a high level xatu which means it won’t be dead on turn 2 and then u can’t bring double typhlosion out and do enough damage, if u don’t have teleport ocarina u should be doing the more basic strat without double blastoise. double blastoise only adds2 gyms anyway.

I think the world record from what ive seen is 26, its technically possible i guess someone is doing 27, but until they record it and upload proof, i wouldn't count it personally.
Nice video, ty. Im thinking about using Murkrow (Fly) over Whimsicott and Gardevoir over Rain Dance Blastoise. Gardevoir learns Rain Dance, 'Teleport', Echoed Voice and Heal Pulse... seems very good to do the work without Ocarinas. What u think?
This is amazing! Thank you Pat! I was able to do all this without ocarinas and only one blastoise even though i bred two! The only difference in my team is that I have an underleveled (lvl 59) dragonite that acts solely as an HM pokemon. Blastoise alone with choice specs at the end can sweep if errors do happen. I haven’t ran into having to use dragonite because if he does land on the platfrom he gets KO’d instantly😂. And instead of going to cinnabar i go to saffron instead. It’s a really easy puzzle and a quick one at that too (you’ll often run into flashfire ninetales) but the way i found a better way to deal with flashfire pokemons is that I equipped one of my typhlosions with charcoal and the other typh with choice specs. This way I can use swift in case they have a focus sash then blastoise can KO them. This team saves you a lot of money (probably over a million from the ocarinas, choice specs, and an extra blastoise) while being very consistent with completing 20 gym leaders and even the two rich Npc’s. This is a good team if you’re just about to start doing reruns.

Thanks for the video ! I was wondering if having 2 wailords instead of blastoise would do the trick ? I don't think I have enough ressources to make a squirtle with water spout. I believe wailord is a bit slower than blastoise but has higher SP.Atk ? idk it was just a thought
I don’t recommend using wailord, in the meantime id recommend getting a level 100 krookodile with earthquake and take care of them that way, krook also helps u take care of the flash fire mons. Its not as consistent as blastoise but is a great budget option and can be used for holiday events like the halloween event.
Hey, have you considered using Wingull Hurricane with Drizzle alongside Blastoise? wondering if that would do a similiar job, and give people access to fly at the same time.
just dont have the party space for it, blastoise is backup strat and not worth slotting the pelipper in over anything else, its good in theory tho for sure

Sorry didn't quite understand the Blastoise speed iv, evs and skills in the vid. So you're saying that the higher speed iv, ev blastoise needs to have rain dance, while the other one must have lower speed iv, ev without rain dance? One more question, what if i have both blastoise with 2x31, should i ev trained one of them with less speed to let the other blastoise to activate rain dance first?
+ I only got like 450k pokeyen left. I dont have both the ocarinas and blastoises.Only have enough pokeyen to spend on 1 blastoise with water spout. What are the gyms battles that i have to skip?
u pretty much nailed it with ur understanding ye, u want the non rain dance blastoise to be just slightly slower so it gets the rain boosted damage, and if u can only afford 1 blastoise u MIGHT still be able to do all gyms but less consistently, i would test but if u struggle with any feel free to cut them out temporarily and move them to the end of the run if u have extra time. Hope this helps some!

there isn't much reason to. grinding money this way may be the best way in the short term but there are many other strategies that you can do all day which end up making much much much more pokeyen.
I think it is. The main advantage is type coverage; specifically it allows you to ko dragonite and kingdra with typhlosion. Also, swift has a ton of pp so it contributes to lessening the need for healing.
Instead of messing with the faster blastoise evs why didn't you just swap their moves and roles? Even with ev adjustment the naturally slower blastoise is better than the ev adjusted one.
I have a cyndaquil 31 sAtk and spd without a special attack nature, can i run with these stats or should i change the nature or a special attack boost?
You CAN run it, but id definitely try to upgrade at some point, certain gyms might give u issues or u might enter damage range territory. It's better to have a typhlosion thats 25+ in each stat with correct nature VS 2x31, 10% just makes such a big difference, but green number is so alluring.
