Check your cell service carrier. If you use a major brand, it probably just works in Japan with a simple temporary international plan, which will be the same price or less than a portable wifi or sim card.
Location 2:18 Visit Japan Web. You said there's no official app of Visit Japan Web but I already have it installed on my phone. I have used Visit Japan Web app twice or thrice in the past already. Can I use the same app by filling out the latest details? Could you please clarify ASAP as I am travelling to Japan soon?
Im flying to Japan in a bit more than a month with my dad,, and he takes some prescript medicines. By any chance do you know where/when can I see if it´s allowed to pass those medicines? I don't know if I have to declare them in the US before taking the flight or when I arrive to Japan and exactly in what place of the airport:(
I sent a mail to a specialised office in the airport I’m landing to ask if my medication was allowed, and they said I was allowed the amount Ineed to take daily and only need to fill in a form and put in the application if you stay longer than 30 days. You can find the email adresses through the Japanese embassy website I believe. Also, it wouldn’t hurt to have a written note by your doctor declaring he has to take the medicine (name, dose and reason), just in case. I also have a copy of the mail with me to avoid any trouble ^^

I asked the official chat bot an it said as following: Visit Japan Web is a service displayed in a web browser. No need to install apps from Google Play or App Store. In case you download a suspicious app, please uninstall it immediately. Please note that Visit Japan Web Service will never ask you to enter your credit card information. Smartphone users (Android and iOS) can also add Visit Japan Web to their home screen and use it as an offline service. When using the offline service, there is a "Use the Visit Japan Web site offline" button (link to the manual) at the bottom of the Login Screen, so please refer to the linked manual and set it up.
@@MegLog_JAPAN Thank you very much for your prompt reply. Really appreciate it. I have been using the Visit Japan Web app for more than 2 years. It's very convenient to download and store the Immigration and Customs QR Codes. Tha is once again.
@@CanuckPokerFaceYou can actually use the offline service, which means you can just install it to the home screen instead of installing from the android or iOS.
The hotel I was planning to stay at has tripled in price in the last six months and Rakuten has the same place listed at 4x the price half a year ago. I cannot book a hotel until I have booked flights and it's a few months early for that. Sitting and watching the hotel slipping out of my financial reach is not enjoyable. This is the second time this has happened. They are not 5 star hotels, these were 3-4 stars verging on the 'Business Hotel' category, and not in Tokyo. I really wonder just how much local people are paying at present for hotel rooms. This higher price isn't the 'bed tax' or 'Tourist tax' (it is too big a markup), it feels like something else. I would love to hear your views on this and where you think these increases are coming from. I'm not the only one horrified by these increases!
I'm going to Japan next month too and staying in Tokyo my brother who studied Japanese reccomemeed me appa it's 700 for 8 nights which I find really good, and if hotels are too much to pay for unless you really Need that privacy of a hotel there's host rooms you can go to for 30 euro a night which is pretty cheap but it's shared but they do have lockers
@TheScratchingKiwi You wonder where this price increase comes from: will you be traveling to Japan for tourism? Then look in the mirror, you're part of the problem. The drastic increase in tourism to Japan since the pandemic has resulted in a surge in demand for hotel rooms. It's simply a matter of supply and demand. Are you a business traveler? Then I feel for you, and think of the Japanese business travelers who usually only get a certain fixed allowance to spend on overnight hotel accommodation. In the bigger cities the insane hoards of tourists clog the business hotels (the ones with the smaller, affordable rooms). They squeeze themselves and their oversized luggage into these small hotel rooms that are not even meant for people with suitcases! The Japanese business travelers are now priced out and squeezed out of these hotels by the hoards from overseas. And it's a similar scene in public transport (buses, trains, shinkansen). Foreign tourists who don't know how to behave in Japan clogging the buses and trains with their suitcases. And I'm sorry to say, but RU-vidrs, Instagrammers, Influencers and the whole lot are more often than not an integral part of the problem nowadays.
