Hi Gill, thanks for your updated review. Yes, the Choyong LC90 does seem very nice and better now, so I think I will buy this radio. I love the nice features it has. I agree with you, Gill. I also think this radio isn't that expensive considering what you get. So yes, it's a nice combo radio with internet radio. I love that. Take care, Gill, and have a lovely day.
If you looking for a Radio Stand, this $5 "Tablet Stand Desktop Adjustable Stand For iPad Pro " By Bexin , does a fantastic job. Quite sturdy. Can hold CCRadio EP Pro as well. I use it for my Sangean PR-D4
I'm on the West Coast, and we've got very little SW broadcast to listen to. AM DX can be a lot of fun. And there's the crowd on the beaches in winter catching MW from Korea etc al around dawn with loops or ferrite external antennas. Does the FM offer adjustable bandwidth? There are no vacant frequencies where I live. Hard to catch skip.
It's almost there for general shortwave. Hopefully, they'll be able to fix the SSB tuning problem soon. For outdoor external antenna overloading of the radio, have you considered using an adjustable antenna signal attenuator? That could be a solution well worth trying. I find the blocking of radio broadcasts to be quite sad. One controlled viewpoint is not good. 😲
I really appreciate the updated review and if I were in the market for a radio, I'd be much more inclined to get one of these than before. The firmware updates are a big deal. As it is, my Tecsun PL-990 with Bluetooth plus my iPhone do the same thing and I have too many radios already.
I returned mine, even with update 4.5. I could not get over the many problems, that are too numerous to mention here. I will mention that the search function is useless. I spent several hours looking for about 20 stations ( that my other internet radio found immediately ) that I listen to regularly. I only found 4. This radio does have outstanding audio, very good FM performance, and in my opinion, average SW performance ( very poor SSB performance ) In the end, I could not justify the 250 dollar price paid, so I sent it back for a refund. I'll wait until the new model, LC100, comes out , as mentioned by Dan Robinson, in 2025.
As I said before, due to the LC90's shortcomings still, I am glad I did return mine to Amazon. Where is RDS, and which would it not connect to my WiFi, but it tethered to my phone, because of my security. I agree that the inputs could be placed on the other blank side. Thanks. 😊
I have version 4.4; it doesn't update over the air - when I try as instructed, radio tells me there is no update. I go to the Choyong website and it says 4.5 download is available but when I click on it, it is a 4.4 version that is downloaded. Really great to see the 4.5 update review; wish I could get 4.5 onto my LC90.
Question? I have a Version 4.0 to update via Wifi I insert a TF card or Sim Card. I have seen two videos to update , One with TF and One with Sim. I just want the 4.4 or and 4.5 updates. Thanks!
