For Isabel Allende, everyone will probably recomend house of the spirits (and they are right, it's amazing) but I would also recomend daughter of fortune, it's a masterpiece
105 for me. It helps that I'm nearing the end of my Shakespeare project where I've read a play of his every weekend since September. So a lot of the checks were the plays.
It's one of my favorites of all time! I've seen it on the list and I rewatched the entire series this year but never saw/heard it. Do you know what episode it's mentioned in?
@@alyssanicole99 some of the rory challenge books arent even mentioned in the series, but only appeared on the background on some shelves or something. Thats what I heard. Could be the case with this book cuz I’ve seen the series manyyy times and they never mentioned it
I just finished The House in the Spirits and it was SO good! Agree with everyone recommending to start there for Isabel Allende. It is definitely an intense and sometimes graphic read, but so worth it by the time you get to the end imo. If you’re someone who finds content warnings helpful, I would recommend looking those up beforehand.
The problem with those lists, they put all the books mentioned by all the characters the in the series, many of them Rory wasn't seen reading or mentioning them at all.
Ella Minnow Pea is such a good book. It's about censorship and government control, but it is written in a series of letters and it has a sort of whimsy that seems strange considering the dark events. Highly recommend! Goldilocks and The Three Bears was my first book that I ever read by myself. I was five and it became my favorite since I have always loved bears. It holds a special place in my heart.
You inspired me to take the quiz! 43!! Not too bad 😊 Just discovered your channel and watched when you counted your books and had about 800ish. Long story short....had 1400, now have 75...but building my library again! Love your channel 😊
I just took the challenge and my score was 39. Interestingly I am in the middle of One Hundred Years of Solitude, Anna Karenina and The Count of Monte Cristo which were on the list so nearly over 40. I’ll take that! I’m also the same - there’s a lot of books on the list I want to read. It was a fun reminder of all the books I want to read that Rory has read!
I opened the link on my computer and tookt he test with you. I got 66 which was 19%. A lot of them I read in school so I barely remember them. But it counts! I screensaved every slide and will make a TBR list of the whole thing and see where I AM in 2 years. I will probably reread a lot of the ones I read and remember liking.
I have only read 50, but several are on my list, I already own half of what's on my list so actually I feel pretty good about it! Like you, I am not purposely going down the list as a challenge, but it is fun every now and then to come back and do this. I don't remember my score the last time I did it, but it was very low, and I was ashamed haha.
Isabelle Allende is one of my favorites. Daughter of Fortune was my first, then I read all of hers. Now she is writing for her grandchildren. Great series.
I read The Japanese Lover by Isabell Allende and I loved it! Highly recommend as it was my first Isabel Allende, although I did read it in Spanish and not in English
Jane eyre was my first classic book that I read and read the book twice. Now I'm so loving the classic books and now I'm planning on getting all the classic books
From Isabel Allende i recommend starting with The house of the Spirits-it’s fantastic. And if you like it there’s 2 more books in the saga 😊 And top 9% is top! ❤ you should totally feel proud 😊
I've never watched Gilmore Girls but you should try the adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. It's very fun to read, a good piece of literature. Oh! and I've read 7 out of the books she did.
it's so funny to check this list not having english as first language!! i've read 23 books of the list and was like lol i'd crush rory gilmore discussing "world" literature, she didn't even read clarice lispector, like... come on, girl
I've only read 39! 'Better than 64% of users' though. The list is full of recommendations and things on my TBR, perhaps I could make a concerted effort to read more of them
There's an updated list that includes A Year in the Life that includes a total of 408 books! It's not quiz format like this but I printed it and have it in a pocket of my reading journal.
I've read 46 of them. Only 14% of the list. 😋 But there are 42 books on the list that I own but that I haven't read - some I have actually started reading and then stopped halfway through. If I read them, I would raise my score to 88 books, 26% of the list.
I've never seen the show, but it's a good list so I went through it. I've only read 31/339, if I did it an hour ago I would have had 30/339 because I just finished Slaughterhouse-Five.
When you read The Iliad I suggest the translation by Emily Wilson I’m in the middle of it and it’s a fresh new take by the first woman to have done so 🦉🐾🦉
I e read 41. I’m 12%. I actually have quite a few of these books I’m interested in on my shelves too! I just havnt read them yet. There is also quite a few I will not read I’m not interested in.
I'm currently reading A Tale Of Two Cities and hoping to begin Dead Souls soon. Maybe someday I'll watch The Gilmore Girls( when I'm in my soppy dotage).😂 By the way I was watching an episode of The Artful Dodger and there was a moment you could say recalled the Dickens v Tolstoy period in that a character covering up for Jack(the Dodger) says he served as a medic at the siege of Sevastopol. I think both Dickens and Tolstoy would have got a kick out of that.
I have the lowest score I saw in the comments (29) lol but I’m excited to make it higher in time!! Will there be another upcoming GG challenge or readathon you’ll be apart of?
I think I sent you 5 -10 of the books from Rory's list, but you've not read any of those yet. I'm only at something like 156 books, which is better than 99% of users on [the challenge] list. I own 27 that I've not read. Too many books, too many lists, so little time.
Oh no, I only got 32!! 🙈 I don’t feel very well read at all haha… and if we’re being honest, most of that came from my love of Shakespeare and Harry Potter 😂
Did Rory really read over 300 books on the tv show? Hmmm! Don't know if I can believe that. Anyway I did the quiz and I got to 60 books. I feel pretty good about that, especially since there's a number of books that is on this list that I wouldn't read myself. Not to my taste.
