I have been jailbreaking iPhone for over a decade now but it was my first time rooting an android. It was so perplexing and I was really in two minds to continue with it, till I found your video. Efficient and effective.
last iPhone I owned/jailbroke was the regular iPhone 4. switched to Android then and haven't looked back. I appreciate you leaving this feedback to let us all know it worked for you
Thanks. I've been working on this for 8 hours 20 minutes (12 hours if you count yesterday) because every other tutorial was outdated. This one worked like a charm Subbed :)
@@ExplainingAndroid So the patch of the Twrp image and to put it into the patched AP is not necessary anymore? I have an error message while that old way "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed" Hope, with this now it goes
Wanted to root my S10+ saw many video but no one was so clear as you did tired many options show by many but it failed only your option and the way you mentioned worked fine and you made it so easy thank buddy for your good work and help 👍👍👍👍👍
Bro he is right, I have watched so many different language videos and always with their download folder where everything is supposedly inside and in the end they were not up to date or in the end the whole thing didn't work. you have put it in a nutshell without download folders or anything else. The video is perfect. 10/10 thank you very much!
This tutorial was really a great help! Thanks a lot!! I was also wery happy to realize that I do not have to use the three-finger-power-up-method in order to have Magisk running and have the device rooted. An ordinary power-up does it! I don't know what made the difference .... Three things I could think of: - 1st I used Magisk v26.4 - 2nd I had USB-Debugging activated - 3rd it was my magic finger ... Anyway, I am glad that it works! Thanks again!
@@00niko90 Just follow the tutorial. The sequense concerning the Magisk_patched file starts at 4:30 Do you have the proper firmware files for your device? I found this the most tricky part to get hold of the correct firmware
Finally! After working for Three days on all the guides that Google can bring up, I come across this video. I am rooting S10 with a guide from "theworldsbestandworst" well its the worst. If anyone here has used that guide. STOP. Watch this video. You are still good to go. This video makes the one thing that no guide does. It makes it clear to use the LATEST version of Magisk no matter what guide you are using. As soon as you update Magisk, you break your root. That being said... Do NOT update Magisk on this phone in the future. It is not safe to do so. Turn off the feature to check for updates in the Magisk app. Thank you for this video, it got me back on track. It also made VERY clear the WHEN and HOW to press the buttons to get into the rooted version of the firmware. Finding the right time from these other guides was killing me and one look at your video and I got it on the first try. Also, no one even mentioned needing to have the USB cable plugged in either like you did. Great job, thank you! Now I can install Poly and bot my PoGo lol.
I love this video. Wish I'd done this before setting up my phone already! One thing to try FIRST, is to check if your phone can boot into the recovery mode. I just used Bifrost to download the firmware. I'm not with any carrier so I just chose TMB (T-Mobile). They're all the same file. But the trick to using this software, always use the directory it chooses. I cannot for the life of me get the OEM option to appear. The Odin flash failed and I thought I had bricked my phone, but it started normally.
ive been trying to root all of my phones for like 4 years but they never worked and now you helped me and now i got it working. thank you so much for helping me root my phone ,you deserve a sub
that's great to hear, Rory. I appreciate you leaving this comment to provide feedback as it helps me (and others) know that the video is still helpful and still works

Thanks for the clear and precise video :) Unfortunately for me, this won't work for what I wanted to do with my old S10 Plus with shattered glass, as it's not a daily driver anymore, and was hoping to turn it into a PiHole which requires a new OS to be flashed to it. Oh well
first time using android and it works perfectly! i just wish you explained the easy stuff like Butten combinations and csc instead of linking videos and frija was a little frustrating to install but other than that I'm glad it worked easily. thanks a lot
I just tried it on my Samsung S10. I downloaded the correct files and placed the correct files back into odin and then started the process. Everything was going fine until the end when it gave me the FAIL with the error Secure Check fail : vbmeta - Image extract failed. In the log it says FAIL! I was a fan of apple planning to make a move to android because of its theming capabilities. I followed your video and successfully rooted my Galaxy s10 without any prior knowledge on rooting process. Many thanks for the video. Good day author. I'm a citizen of another country, and I don't quite understand English... I have a Samsung Galaxy s10 5g SM-G977N, Android 12 OneUI 4.1 trying to root my phone using your video. But I have a question: where did you get the "Magisk Patched" file? Thank you in advance
continue watching the video 3:21 when he downloads magisk and flash ap file, it turns the file into magisk repatched in the phones storage. you have to find that file and copy into computer
Great Tutorial works without issue, I was wondering though. when you mean that I need to boot the phone with the usb cable connected for the root to work. Does that mean that I have to connect it to the pc and start Odin and then load magisk with the button combination each time? Or can I do it while it is connected to a charger?
Can you help me? I followed everything on this video but odin stucks on: get pit for mapping... I tried using a different cable and port, using an older version and using the latest version of odin, another pc. All usb drivers are up to date. As a test, I tried to reinstall the original firmware, I tried several versions, none of them worked.
Does SAMSUNG Dex /desktop mode work perfectly /unaffected by rooting. Or is DEX lost as a result of the rooting. ((great vids. Been watching alot of your vids. Even if I don't pursue rooting... It's great to learn about rooting from your Channel))

After some time for some reason, I can not load magisk at startup anymore. when I try, boot restart and boot normally without loading magisk, the phone is connected with de USB cable.
I'll send you a US version running Snapdragon and would really love to see do that without getting the strings to paste to unlock the bootloader from Samsung
Great video! It worked for me, but I only after I changed the USB cable I was using to connect to the PC (the previous cable was fine for file transfer, but sometimes, when charging, it triggered some weird warning alert on the smartphone as if there were moisture in the USB connector). I have a question, though: if, in the future, I need to upgrade the Android firmware to a more recent release, what are the steps required to proceed with the update and still end up with a rooted phone? Thanks
@@ExplainingAndroid Lol yeah I hadn't watched it completely then. It works. Thank YOU. Please do post a video if you find a way to keep root without holding the buttons at bootup.
@@ExplainingAndroid I have the Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975U1) running Android version 11, and One UI version 3.1. I believe it is the Snapdragon version. Will this method still work for me or do I need to update? I'd prefer to stay on the version I currently have but will update if its required to root.
Thank you I got my S10 plus rooted, a very concise guide well explained for new users to magisk and root process. I have been using a custom ROM but soft bricked device by accident and now have to wait till they update to my firmware version. I could not go back to HVG4 from HVJ1 firmware release. Helped a long time root user and custom dev who dropped the ball lol. I blame senility
1. Every guide on youtube for S10, S10+, S10e root for Exynos model are outdated. Requires combination keys and usb plugged to phone and PC after phone restart or shutdown to keep magisk active. 2. Snapdragon model for S10, S10+, S10e, out of luck using root without combination keys. 3. Google the guide s10 root without combination keys ramdisk. 4. Root without combination keys running latest Android 12 firmware, March security patch 2023. No need combination keys and usb plugged to phone and PC after phone restart or shutdown to keep magisk active.
@@ExplainingAndroid Just a tip, page 1, step 4 in forum. Only flash patched AP file, do not add BL, CP, CSC. I tried and it causes error which may brick your phone. To unbrick, reflash latest original latest stock firmware AP, BL, CP, CSC After patching AP file with magisk completed, you may not see the patched AP file from phone and copy to PC. Just restart your phone once, you should be able to copy the patched AP from phone to PC. Google latest Ambasadii file to work with magisk 26.1
@@zapple101rv it is never advised to only flash the patched AP file. doing so can cause a bug to appear that will cut your internal storage in half (or less). you always want to flash the AP, BL, CP, and CSC file when rooting a Samsung Galaxy device
@@ExplainingAndroid Thanks for the tips. For me, I always flash original stock firmware as my 1st step: AP, BL, CP, CSC. 2nd step: Boot up phone in normal mode, install magisk and patch AP file only. When flashing patched file, I selected only patched AP file. Did not encounter any error all this while. For the internal storage issue, I always format data either using TWRP recovery or Samsung recovery. Getting full storage size.
At step 18 where you're stuck in a bootloop and have to go into recovery mode, my galaxy S10 doesn't go into recovery mode when holding down the buttons and boots normally to the welcome screen, with a toast message saying PDP backup: success. Would you know how to fix this?
Thanks a lot, excellent video ! My goal is to back on Android 11 on my S10e. Once I'll have followed all the video steeps, before to install with Odin my official Android 11, I have to extract and correct all 4 original files (AP, BL, CL and CSC), back to steep 15 and charge all 4 files corrected with Odin, I'm well right ?
Every time I restart my phone I need to root it all over again because it wouldn’t load on boot, it just double boots and root checker says root is not downloaded properly
Mine doesn work :( Odin stops at dtbo.img and the green loading bar does not progress phone says pit-flash binary unsupported version S10e running android 12 u.i 4.1
I rooted on magisk 26 and everytime I have to restart my phone, even though I hold bixt, vol down and power, I loose my root after attaining root access 😢
@@ExplainingAndroid yes, I follow your tutorials to a T. Thanks for the s22 recommendation too, it is rootable. That one is next after I figure this issue out. Hi, my device is s10+, my device has been using magisk correctly for 3-4 months, but today I update the module and I clicked on reboot at the bottom right corner of the installation screen and it got stuck with the message "Custom Binary(vbmeta) Blocked By R/L ". probably means reactivation lock, and I can't boot my system with magisk by pressing volume up key + bixby key + power buttonhow. in step 21, letting go of the three buttons on the third screen doesn't work. it always brings me to the recovery screen, so when i boot without holding the buttons magisk doesnt initialise. any advice or help with this issue?
Hello, It´s an amazing video and tutorial. Please, let me ask you something. This tutorial works with a Galaxy S10 SM-G973F with Exynos processor? Thanks and congrats
I was this close to getting started! But I can't get past this issue. I found the tar / md5 image for my G973U, put it on the phone, installed the latest magisk and tried to begin the process as you showed, then when it failed I uninstalled it to install the version you used 25.1, but it said "app not installed" and then I tried to install the newest apk again and it said "app not installed" and no matter what I've deleted my phone just doesn't want to install magisk again. I don't understand.
Problem with Magisk patching the AP file. Once Maghisk has completed the installation flashing of the AP file. And has created the AP Magisk Patch. The AP Magisk Patch is in a zip compress file form. And Odin can not read it. so I extract the AP magisk Patched zip lock compress file. Odin still can not see this unlock extracted AP magisk patched file. So I can not root my S10 5G phone. Before Magisk Patched files would not be in a zip lock file. The Magisk Patched file would go into Odin AP slot directly. And My phone would be rooted. Now Odin can not see or read the completed AP Magisk Patch. What is the fix for this? What is the solution for the AP Magisk patch so Odin can read and use it for rooting a phone?
This all of sudden stops working after a while. Done everything and everything was running as it should until I restarted the phone. When trying to load magisk via the recovery mode, the phone gets stuck at the Samsung logo after holding down vol up+bixby+power as shown in the video. When booting as normal the phone starts without problems. Its only when booting in recovery mode this happens
plug it in the charger and then hold down the volume up bixby button and power button then when samsung logo shows up release the power but keep holding down the volume up and bixby button until it boots into recovery mode
@@Bingtube69420 doesn't do a thing. Puts it in the same loop sequence and gets stuck. Don't see how this would be any different then the other sequence tbh.
I don't even have to watch this to tell you you're falsely giving people hope by saying "ALL samsung s10 series can be rooted." We don't all by our phones outside of North America. It's just a bad look and annoying seeing people constantly saying the same thing. North American snapdragon phones are not oem unlockable!
you may be able to do this with a program called heimdall. i have video showing how to set up heimdall on windows and image it should be relatively the same with Linux (just with different install steps)
it does IF you can unlock the bootloader first. not all Snapdragon variants can do this, though. but some from a few regions can. so it will just depend on the status of the bootloader
Hello @Explaining Android, I followed your tutorial a while ago. Everything went well. But I just tried updating magisk and now my phone is stuck in a boot loop. Any help is greatly(!) apreciated!!
i just unrooted my phone and it no longer detect my sim card and it had change to the korea version i noticed my AP & CP where the same but my CSC was the international i'd like to root it back to it original state so is there a way to root your phone and change only CSC
I would change the CSC first, and then root the phone after you boot it up and find that it works properly. I don't have experience changing the region/csc of my Samsung phones, but I do know that many people switch to a 'universal' csc firmware so they don't have mobile carrier bloatware on their phones

correct. the way Samsung sets up their Android filesystem, you need to boot into Recovery Mode (which now requires a computer, or other USB connected devices)
