This thing has me baffled. In the configurator, the file is saved as dot cfg, the 6 digit option is checked. The voltage says 16, should it stay that way? I checked the boards using a sketch and though it was for a 4 digit board, all digits had something on them. I've triple checked your layout, everything is where it should be.

@@DaveWrightKB9MNM The cfg file is getting saved to the simvim folder in the xplane plugins folder? I'm stomped also it sure seems like everything is correct last time I looked at it.

Hi John, thank you. I've been playing around a bit with the new configurator. So far everything on my 7 segment displays seems to work but I haven't tried DM13As since I only use them on my test panel not in my actual setup. I'm hoping to put up a video with some little nuances I have on the new configurator. I'll try to experiment with DM13As before I do that but work has been keeping me traveling a lot lately

Hello again Bernd, I can only use my Saitek panels and Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo with MSFS. SimVim doesnt not yet work for MSFS so I can't use all my home made panels ☹.Hopefully some day in the future it will but thats ok I only fly MSFS like 1 hour a month anyway

I just ordered a loe bodnar BBI-32 and I have an arduino leonardo. I want to make a altitude/ vs speed with the two arm buttons for the carenado pc-12 for xplane and the autopilot for carenado s550 II. How would you go about it. Thanks.

Hello Gregory, I have no idea how to help you with that. I only work with SimVimX and Real Sim Control. I always thought that Leo Bodnar boards were a little overpriced although it seems they are very capable for building panels.

Great Video as usual! Quick question, does simvim support conditional output/input, what I mean can i have a seven segment display for NAV1 and a switch when I flip it then the same display would display NAV2 for example? I want to build one box to display NAV1/COM1 with a switch to flip it to NAV2/COM2 using the same displays. Same applies for the rotary encoder by default they control NAV1/COM1 but if I flip the switch then they would control NAV2/COM2 instead... I hope my question is clear thank you and cheers!!
@Qosmokid
@Qosmokid Год назад
Hi Tony, yes SimVimX/RSC does have ability to use the same buttons, encoders, displays for multiple functions. As of right now (Feb 24, 2023) it does seem like it's not working correctly for Multi position rotary switches. I wrote an email to Vlad about it but I haven't heard back from him yet. It wasn't working for encoders either but it looks like that got fixed already. You can assign the "conditions" by assigning the selector function to a toggle switch, multi position rotary switch or momentary push button under the GENERIC I/O section of the configurator. Then after you assign more than one function to a display or encoder you can make it "selectable" using that selector you assigned.
@Qosmokid
@Qosmokid Год назад
Hi again Tony, so I put together a small setup on my test panel to try exactly what you were asking about and I am happy to report it works perfectly. Hopefully Ill make a video about this soon so you can hopefully duplicate it if you haven't done it already. I used an 8 digit MAX7219 for the standby freq, a 6 digit TM1637 for the active freq, a dual rotary encoder for tuning, and a push button for the flip switch. As my selector I used a 4 position rotary switch.

Hello , I’ve done everything as per your video but still I get no digits (they all lid up with 8’s) Did we not need to copy the .dat file to the aircraft folder too? I’m using the 7219. Thank you Sir!
@Qosmokid
@Qosmokid 2 года назад
No a .dat is not needed for the displays to work properly. Specially now with version 2.0 of the plugin there will no longer be a separate .dat file even for custom conversions. Having gone over this with multiple people I can almost guarantee you that something in your wiring is NOT right. I figured you are using MAX7219 displays because those are always the most problematic ones of the two. To even begin to try to help you I would need more information

I’ve been trying again this afternoon for a couple of hours , checking and checking the wiring diagram on the SimVim website , still no luck . Thanks for this, was very helpful, i managed to get all to work easily. Same as you with my Max chipsets, the 7segment display always lits up fully on power on. only after turning the encoders, an update is overwriting all 888888 to a real value. Was anybody able to have it startup blank as it is in the real plane ?
@Qosmokid
@Qosmokid Год назад
Hello Gunter, my MAX7219 starts off all blank when I load up a flight with a cold and dark aircraft. After I turn on my avionics the displays turns on with the correct data for that display. I never see any 8's on the two that I have. Do you have the resistor between CLK and GND? I'm not sure if that would cause it but you should have it to prevent random data.

I have just used the Arduino software to reset the board. First in the TOOLS make sure you select "Arduino MEGA or MEGA 2560" in the board > Arduino AVR boards menu and the COM port that the windows device manager detects you board connected to. After that is done go to File > Examples > EEPROM > eeprom_clear. On the window that opens click on the "Upload" Icon and that's it. Although this sketch is under "Examples for Arduino Uno" I've never had an issue using it to erase my board. *** Before proceeding, Close the Arduino software and unplug the USB cable from the Mega board *** Now make sure you have the SimVim plugin in your X-Plane plugins folder then > Open X-plane and load a flight > Go to the plugins menu > SimVimCockpit > Firmware Upload > Click on "Master Board" Now plug in the USB cable to the board and click on "Detect Port" You should see the port it is detected on and under "Controller type" a green box and checkmark on Mega 2560. Under "Firmware on-board" you should see "N/A" Click on the upload button and a black shell window should open showing the progress of the upload. After 5 seconds it will close and the SimVim STATUS windows should open showing the version in use and in the bottom you should see "1. USB SimVimCockpit Firmware I/O #/# Connected" The numbers in the I/O area will depend on the number of INPUTS/OUTPUTS in the configuration data file you have in the SimVim Plugin folder.
