I feel the same. "The Return" was perfect in every sense. The ending is genius. I love Frost's books! But if they have more things to say... OH, BOY! 🙈

Wonder if Shudder has the budget now. Maybe they could collaborate with someone to fund the film or series. Wonder how far he would get crowdfunding. Might get more money than he would with a studio haha

@@ItsYourDistraction Yeah, crowdfunding with Shudder distributing would be the ideal. AMC owns Shudder, but has tried to sabotage them once before...they'd foolishly assumed that people would be more interested in AMC + than Shudder, but AMC +'s interface sucks AND they don't have much more in interesting content to horror and dark arthouse fans that would motivate them to leave Shudder for AMC + (you can access all Shudder content there, but again, the interface SUCKS and they cost more). So despite them laying people off at Shudder shortly before launching AMC +, they didn't get people to ditch Shudder, so I *think* it's still a viable option for Lynch as long as he doesn't give them permanent distribution rights. Then he can do like many indie films and migrate through ALL the streaming services AND sell physical copies from his website.

Return is the best season in tv history as well. But kinda different.

@@adams1907 I might disagree with you on that one! It's still cool but it feels like it lost touch with the original intent of the show.

@@Biosynchro It's its own weird thing. I think letting go of expectations and going with the flow helped with enjoying that strange, wonderful nightmare of a world. Each episode was like a jigsaw puzzle piece. I had little idea early on, but as the season neared the end, things fell more and more into place. And I could not guess where the show would go next. I watched it four times, and each time I saw things and details I missed the first time. We will likely never see a season like that ever again, especially in a world of algorithm driven streaming shows.

There's no place like home, but you can never go home. "Do you recognize anything?" "No." "Do you recognize that house?" "No." ... "What year is this?" You can't ever go back to the past, and even if you could, it'd be a reaaaally bad idea. A big aspect of the return seems hypercritical of nostalgia and preoccupation with the past. People and places change - the world is not what it was 25 years ago, nothing is. Somethings change for the better, many things haven't. I'm convinced that ultimately the return is what lynch envisioned since the beginning, but couldn't due to industry meddling and the nature of TP as a deeply collaborative show (many writers and directors.) The killer was revealed, coop never ended up with audrey. Both of these were accounted for later in the return and fwwm. Fwwm in particular seems a pretty solid setup for what happened in the return. I imagine a lot of the changes would have just resulted from the passage of time, people's death, and Lynch having the majority of his best known and most widely acclaimed works inbetween fwwm and the return. Don't hope for something like S1 or 2, you can always just watch them again. Hope for something new and better.
