Thanks so much man, it took me a good two days to figure out how to get this rear cover off and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. But I followed what you did and it finally worked. Obviously you have make sure you have the screen laid down on something soft like a bed or a towel or something to make sure it doesn't get scratched and make sure you don't use a knife or anything to wedge the screen out, I just ended up using a flathead screwdriver to hold part of the left part of the bottom part up, then I slid the guitar pick up and down the gap between the screen and the frame, then wiggled it up and until it finally clicked and the screen on the that side came loose, then I did the same for the rest of the screen and finally got it off.
Finalmente me decidí a desmontar el mio un Lenovo AIO 520 24ast (24 pulgadas) para meterle 4gb más de ram y un ssd de 240gb nmve. Pues ya que se me ha ayudado, lo correcto es que comenté en indique aquí como fue el proceso. La referencia fue este vídeo, el cual seguí casi al 100% El video oficial de lenovo no sirve de mucho, no es tan fácil como lo pintan ahí. No es fácil, no es como otros equipos, quitar tornillos y listo. La carcasa está ajustada al panel como por unos remaches que hacen que esté perfectamente encajada y es complicado quitarla. Describo los pasos que seguí yo: Consideraciones iniciales: - Abstenerse si no se esta habituado a desmontar equipos, no es nada fácil y es muy delicado - Nunca forzar nada, con paciencia y firmeza, no a lo bruto - Adquirir herramientas específicas para desmontar, más que nada hace falta una cuchilla, paleta fina y firme ya que el hueco para introducila es inexistente. En mi caso use una herramienta de apertura/paleta GB-5A, comprada por 1 euro. - Dejar la peana puesta, ya que esto nos permite descansar, y apoyar normalmente el equipo mientras se manipula. Además al poner los módulo podemos encender el equipo aun desmontado para verificar que todo esta bien antes de cerrarlo. - Hacer el proceso poniendo cartones o algo blando de debajo. En mi caso use un sofá antiguo como mesa, así el panel no sufre daños al estar manipulando los bordes. Proceso: 1) Quitar tapa trasera que rodena la peana y tornillos, sencillo. 2) Primer problema, al quitar la tapa y tornillos anterior nada sucede, hay que meter una herramienta tipo cuchilla (GB-5A) muy fina en la parte inferior, entre el panel y la carcasa e ir pasandola de un lado a otro hasta que se va separnado la carcasa del panel por abajo, partiendo de la zona donde no está el tornillo inferior. Al principio cuesta meter la cuchilla entre panel y carcasa, pero una vez metida con cuidado la vamos paseando suvamente hacia el otro lado hasta que se vaya abriendo un pequeño hueco. 3) Nuevo problema. Al girar el tornillo de la parte inferior este esta duro, no hace nada. Debe ser como un resorte, no es un tornillo en sí. El truco es despues del paso 2 (y como se ve en el vídeo), dejar la herramienta metida en esa zona haciendo palanca, mientras se gira el tornillo insistentemente, llega un momento que 'salta algo' y sale ya buena parte del panel por su parte inferior. 4) Con la herramienta indicada, la introducimos ahora por un lateral y la vamos pasando de abajo - arriba varias veces, parece que no pasa nada pero al cabo de unas pasadas notamos con 'salta' una zona de la pantalla, como si se soltar de una presilla o algo así, seguimos con insistiendo hasta que salte todo el lateral, al acabar vamos al otro lado y cuando parece que ya está hay que hacer lo mismo en la parte superior, ..., el panel está como pegado a los bordes. Ojo aquí no ser bruto porque como metemos y hacemos palanca con el panel podemos cascarlo. 5) Una vez salga todo el panel hay cable que va del panel a la placa que hay que quitarlo de unas presillas, no hace falta desconectarlo que es bastante largo, además así podemos encender el equipo para probar antes de montar de nuevo. 6) A partir de aquí ya es más sencillo y más estándar, pese a que mi placa no es exacta al video es poner la ram en su sitio y el ssd nvme en el suyo (el tornillo en mi caso ya venía puesto). 7) Una vez puesto y probado, montar de nuevo que es muy sencillo, con las manos acercamos el panel a la carcasa y con una suave presión ya oimos 'clacs' en varias zonas de que se encaja de nuevo. Montarlo es coser y cantar. Y eso es todo. La verdad es que es lamentable que un equipo como este sea tan complicado de desmontar, nunca había visto un pc tan complicado en ese sentido, pero con paciencia y sentido común se consigue. Insisto en mirar el video con detalle, ya que fue mi referencia y me sirvió de mucho.

I've seen the cracked screen commentaries and all I can say is - I followed the steps and had no problems. This person makes this look fast and easy and I think that's what's tripping people up. This is someone working with a practiced hand - most of us are doing this for the first time. Go SUPER slow, be extra careful, watch the video 3 times before you start, pause the vid and do each step really slowly. The plastic casing is gonna make a shitton of horrific I-sound-like-i'm-coming-apart sounds - focus on not torqueing the screen and don't worry about the plastic complaining and you should be good.
So first you have to unscrew the 2 or 4 screws under the cover of the stand, then plug out a bit of the side plastic mounts, and then screw the botton frame screw. Yet, even after that, I cant seem to pull the screen off. Frustrating.

You opened that up roughly but safely. I tried opening it even gentler and ended up separating the dark screen which is glued ON from the digitizer behind it. The computer would not separate along the side or top enough and my plastic tools didn't help. A word to the wise, be aware this is a hard case to open. I have another new 520 and I WON'T be opening that one EVER.
Wouldn;t you know it, 3 years later and I have to open another 520 which is giving me hell. It separates but refuses to come off clean, hanging onto to every tiny plastic tab and then some. What a pain. It really didn't need to be like this. It isn't Fort Knox. Still don't have it opened fully.
Thanks. Very useful. Just upgraded my RAM to 12GB. BTW, you don't need to pull out the connections. The RAM can be easily updated without doing that. Just remove the circular stand and it opens up totally.
I managed it just fine without breaking it, it was still a pain in the arse and took ages to figure it out but you've got to make sure you don't force anything where it's not meant to be forced and make sure you used anything sharp in between the screen and the frame.

After my experience today, I would not advise doing this. I cracked the screen despite being as careful as I could. Take your pc to an "expert" so that if they break the screen, it is their fault.
uhhh im not sure your supposed to crack the screen. worked well for me. maybe try laying the monitor on a flat suface and make it facing the surface without your impaling yourself with the suport rod thing
In order not to brake the screen, follow the instruction laid down in the file "ideacentre_520-22-24_hmm_20180614.pdf". You can find this guide using Google. No sharp tools for detaching side and upper side of the screen!

tried to open one of these, 2 hours, careful the screen always in tension, almost break fuck lenovo and this design aint gambling a new screen (25+ years of computer building/laptopr repair experience)
Thanks for the vid but ****WARNING****. I have dealt with all-in-ones for years but this one is a nightmare. The screen cracked and I had to spend a couple of hundred pounds to replace it for my customer. I will not be dealing with this model again...

yeah it can be removed. just flip your pc with the monitor on a flat surface and under the stand there should be a screw. using either your thumbs or a screwdriver just unscrew it off and there you go (you might also have to take off the cable management thing shaped like a 9 if that helps).
I cannot loosen the screw! It is too tight. I know I'm supposed to turn it to the right but it won't budge. I'm in danger of ruining the thread on the screw. Any tips on loosening it?
Ok I sussed it. Required better screw driver and more brute force. I would recommend using a credit card to slide round edges of screen rather than a screwdriver. Easily the hardest case ive had to open especially with the high risk of damage!!
Some scaremongering going on here! Yes the 520 is a fiddly little wotnot to open BUT WITH CARE it pops open after some delicate patience. I've opened mine twice now without incident. The only bummer is you cannot fit a standard 2.5in SSD with adaptor bracket. The mounting bracket for the 3.5HDD is bespoke and will not accept the adaptor sufficiently well so be prepared for some metal work unless you install a m.2 SSD.
No need to open the top of this machine to insert ram, open bottom only by pulling it away from the case, then pop off metal access panel at top right, the insert ram... done. This video does it the hard way.
Buen día a todos, si alguien tiene problemas para formatear una PC como la Ideacentre AIO 520-22AST o similares, ya sea con el sistema operativo Windows 10 20H2 en adelante, si la computadora se les reinicia al iniciar con el medio de instalación o USB de Windows, deben de actualizar la BIOS de la PC para que pueda funcionar bien la instalación con versiones más recientes de Windows 10, otra alternativa también es instalar una versión de Windows 10 anterior, como la 1909, por alguna extraña razón éste tipo de computadoras ideacentre no funcionan bien con nuevas versiones de Windows 10 como la 22H2 que es la más reciente, así que actualizando la BIOS debería de funcionar, además de usar su unidad de instalación de Windows en UEFI, si actualizan la BIOS de la computadora, tenga cuidado, ya que si se apaga la computadora si se va la electricidad, quedará inservible la computadora y tendrán que reprogramar la BIOS lo cual puede ser costoso Good morning everyone, if anyone has problems formatting a PC like the Ideacentre AIO 520-22AST or similar, either with the Windows 10 20H2 operating system onwards, if the computer restarts when starting with the installation media or USB of Windows, they must update the BIOS of the PC so that the installation with more recent versions of Windows 10 can work well, another alternative is also to install a previous version of Windows 10, such as 1909, for some strange reason this type of computer ideacentre don't work well with newer versions of Windows 10 like 22H2 which is the most recent, so updating the BIOS should work, as well as using your Windows installation drive in UEFI, if you update the computer's BIOS, be careful , since if the computer is turned off if the electricity goes out, the computer will be unusable and they will have to reprogram the BIOS which can be expensive
Thank you mate..... It be helpfull very.... One question.. I opened and now i want to install extra M.2 SSD 128GB or 256GB - the question is : How it works that extra drive? Is it be as second drive in "My Computer" then i will install there separate System or it just work as Flash memory to speed up our 1TB disk ? In AMD StoreMI technology? Then i will buy only small 128GB. But i would like to buy 256GB install there all System Files and keep picture, and that 1TB Setup as second Quiet (power off set after 5min). Can you please answer for that question please.... we have so less options here in BIOS i wondering maybe lenovo just block the way how we can use it.

This pc have like 4 or five models. Some jabe ebetter processors or integrated graphics. This is a lpw end pc . I was upgrading ram too from 4GB to 12GB . But i think 8GB is the sweet spot for every model. Tell me the cost of ur pc and i'll recomend better. Sry for bad eng

Is it working as 2 separate storage or as one (like FusionDrive where 128GB be used as FlashMemory for basic drive using for example AMD StoreMI technology). In normal desktop i will set up as i want, but because here is no any options in BIOS i wondering it may work just in one way. My idee is to buy 256GB, install there system and keep necesary files, and 1TB just leave for videos (and set up power off for this drive after 5min to don't listen any noise). Can you please give my advice if you know anybody who using AIO PC with 2 hard disk drives do they have that SSD as Flash support for 1TB Drive or it is separate drive for system. Thank you a lot !

no existe ningun metodo bien explicado para abrir ese tipo de PC , intentarlo es Romperlo , ya me paso por eso les digo no lo intenteis ni por broma !!! , incluso los mejores tecnicos tiene miedo abrir esa maquina
