Thanks for this - would never had pulled the plastic surround hard enough if I hadn’t seen you do it. Disconnecting the white plug required pushing a small button underneath, for anyone else struggling.
Just installed to i20 automatic transmission. Here's how to do: 1. take away silver trim using your hands. it's easy. clips are not tight. 2. move transmission to D position. now transmission is not merged with other parts. 3. start to pull up all this big plastic part using flat metal screwdriver. first point should be the one closer to back seats. don't hurry, be careful. 4. When big part is up, disconnect cables, replace the AUX part to AUX/USB. I bought 1J000 part for 4$. It perfectly match and work the same as 1J900. Now when you click AUX button on car stereo it start to play also mp3 from usb flash.
Hi Kris, Could you please let me know, when you removed the gear stick leaver, did you have to remove any screws to enable you to remove the part that contained the lighter socket? If so where were they? thanks.
The entire removal process in this video did not require any screws to be removed. The only part that screws to be removed is from about 3 minutes onward (although I don't show this here). Hope that helps.
Hi Kris, I'm trying to take out my aux port out as it seems to have some connection issues. The problem is, I cant find out how to remove the surrounding panel like you did (2:08). I have an automatic version, so I dont have room to squeeze my fingers between the gear stick and the frame like you did. Do you have any suggestions? Should I just apply a lot of force, or pry it from the sides? Thanks!
@@harryisaacs9995 Yes, but unfortunately I don't think I took any pictures. I remember I just had to pry it out forcefully. It is held by plastic clips.
I would just modify the wiring in the module to fit the new head unit. Aftermarket units normally come with one or more USB sockets so it would be easy to do.
