Upgrade Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for Free 

I was concerned about updating my PC from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 until I found this video on RU-vid. I followed the steps shown, and after about two hours of downloads and updates I am now running Windows 10 on my PC. Highly recommend this process!

additional point to share that I encounter during my window 8 to 10 upgrade. You must right click and run as administrator when running media tool creation, if not the media tool creation will still run but half way it will auto close.

It shows me just there was a problem starting setup. Close the tool and reset the pc.. Any solution

Do we need Run as administrator option to start a download process. or you can simply open media creation tool by selecting Open option and start the process.

It didn't work for me. When I clicked accept for installation it took 4 hrs to install and after the reboot when it opened it comes an error and tells 'sorry we couldn't download windows 10' so plz help 😢😢😢😢😢

I watched this video and installed. It took about 6 hours to download the data. Now, I did not see the prompt to go to the final step of installation. In fact, after 100% download was over, everything disappeared. Now where to find the downloaded file and how to install that? Please help!

I have actually choosed the Create installation media and after that i installed from the setup that was in the ISO file.

My “Working on Updates” 2:17 and so is taking + 18 hours by now and is yet at 11%. I’m upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 too. Anyone else with the same problem? Edit: After 22h the loading remained around 14%, but int the last 3 hours it rushed and finished the whole upgrade with around 25 hours. Nevertheless, unfortunately I'll downgrade back to 8.1, because 10 is bugged in my notebook (dunno if cause it's an old machine or if the drivers are out of date), but I'm losing my mind with the bugs and stutters/freezes.

Just tried this in April 2022. Still works! Many thanks for putting this video out. Initially, it kept stopping at 73% or 81% and saying it had failed. I then created a DVD using the Windows Create Media Tool. Still didn't work installing it from the DVD. I read down the comments and followed the workaround posted which suggested extracting the contents of the DVD, etc. Extracting didn't come up as an option so I copied the contents instead to a folder on my hard drive, ran the setup exe file from there, then followed the workaround instructions. Worked perfectly although all the updates took FOREVERRRRRRR. Thank you so much to whoever originally posted that. I now have a fully working Windows 10 laptop! Happy days....

Hello! when updating to windows 8.1 to 10 (Laptop), will I still be able to keep my files & applications after updating or will theswe be erased?

Will my files in OS (C:) drive be safe if I tick that option of " keep personal files and apps ?"

It is a 6 hours process it requires 6+ GB data Patience is the key. You will not lose any data if you choose your perfect requirement options. The network must be on throughout the process. Thank you for the video it was really helpful.🙏

When I reach the part where it starts installing windows 10 and tells me that my pc will restart a couple times it gets stuck at 81% and doesn’t go up, I’ve left it for an hour or two but it was still stuck at 81%. Anyone having the same problem and fixed it? Any tips?

Perfectly working as on 17th September 2020....i upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10 and it is working like charm....it took me around 4 hours to upgrade @ 40 mbps and neither the files nor apps got deleted... Thankyou

With 8.1 support ending I had to try this. Got the info from someone previous but also saw this as confirmation. Worked like a charm, took several hours on mine but the end result I now have Windows 10.

Can u guys tell the difference of direct upgrade (method used in the video) versus using a bootable USB?
