I bought a set of NEEWER NW-410 microphones recently. One of the microphones sounded good and had a very low self noise, the other one was very noisy. The reason was a defective zener diode. After replacing the zener diode, both microphones had a very low self noise. I measured the microphone capsules and it seems there is quite a bit of tolerance. The two 'pairs' of capsules with the same directional characteristic had very different frequency responses, the main difference was at low(er) frequencies. But for general audio work, it is a good set for the money. Of course not 'top quality', but in most cases 'good enough'.
David, The environment I will be using these mics in will be similar to yours as is the equipment. I believe these will be more than serviceable and have placed my order for Prime delivery April 22. In summary, Thank you for your excellent review. Wishing you wellness and well-being. :-)
Interesting and very helpful review - I’m in the market for a mic and I’ve used Neewer products before - can’t fault them at all - quality is good and price makes it a deal maker IMO - thanks for sharing
Hi thank you for your comment, I can’t truly answer that question I know it’s good for spoken word but as I’m not a singer i don’t know how it would respond to various singing voices but at this price it’s worth a try.
Hi the neewer’s go into a Motu M2 audio interface with output set to about 75% that is then recorded into Adobe audition then in post I add some noise reduction a little compression and then loudness match to -23luf and that’s about it unless I get any issues while recording.
@@GrandadsReviews Thanks a lot! I asked because I was looking for good microphones for my podcast. Then I found them and wanted to know what they sound like. Our current microphones don't have a good sound quality. But we have an YAMAHA MG12 audio interface (Im from a school-radio), did you think, it works on this audio interface?
@@the-gaming-lukez as long as the interface can supply 48v phantom power it should be ok but if you are getting some noise it might be the interface not the mics if it’s just poor quality audio you are getting it’s more than likely the mics so these should be a good upgrade unless you have a bigger budget then spend up to that budget.
@@GrandadsReviews Yes, our audio interface can supply the Phantom power. I think, I can repair the audio quality. Currently we had dymanic microphones from SHURE. Our first Podcast-Episode (No Ad): anchor.fm/sevenhills/episodes/Die-erste-Folge---WnE--1-emichc Yes, we from germany😅... Thanks for your help!😉
Both those microphones are probably very good but not in some peoples price range where as these are very cheap maybe noisier but still usable with some noise reduction and definitely a step up from the cameras internal microphones.
@@GrandadsReviews The Behringer B5 is approximately $75, so it's around the same price as the NW-410 set, but the B5 is an excellent microphone. It can compete pretty favourably with the Neumann KM184 on some sources.
