A step-by-step how to video on upgrading / upcycling your old Cambridge Audio Phono Stage in 10 minutes. This is achieved using the maudifi PhonOh! 756 phono stage module. This is a high-end audio phono stage which can be installed in any of the Cambridge Audio phono stages from the 540P to the CP2 (specifically, the 540P, 640P, 551P, 651P. CP1 and CP2). It takes approximately 10 minutes to fit in one of these.
It can also be used in your own DIY chassis enclosures as you see fit.

Using my best British understatement ... there's a little bit of a difference! 😂 But really they serve two different markets ... the upcycling/upgrade angle allows customers to get higher-end sound quality at a more affordable price and hopefully divert some older kit from heading to landfill.

Can you give recommendations on upgrading the power supply? A LPS would output 12v DC and I believe the CA uses 12V AC. Or does your unit use 12v DC?

Thanks for your questions. I'm planning a video on this subject. The PhonOh!756 also takes a 12Vac power input. The rectification and the rest of the linear power supply is onboard. I highly recommend a good quality toroidal transformer. As I say I'll have a video on this soon which will share more details. A good transformer does give a worthwhile improvement, but (hint) you get a much bigger bang for your buck by upgrading the phono board first. HTH.
