Great explanation, it’s always amazing that those that do have to spend so much time explaining to those with no clue. There was a time when you would at least research a subject enough to ask a question that had some value. If you don’t care enough to do a little research on your own then the question was just ask for no apparent reason. The old quote there’s never a stupid question was before RU-vid came about and gave people an anonymous way to try and get noticed. Great content as always 👍.

Beautiful cabinets. My “local” hardwood store is two counties away. So I asked some GCs, how do they manage. They said, the cabinet maker is only one county away and the installer is only two towns over.

Great video Handyman! Let me add a cautionary tale buying hardwood plywood . I was once sold some "Asian plywood" for a large custom cabinet. In the stack it looked good with a nicely finished maple veneer but as soon as I started milling it became apparent why it was cheaper. The veneer was whisper thin and the glue gave off a stink that filled the shop. I had to rebuy the whole batch. Buy American people!

Can't remember the last time I saw such solid detailed craftsmanship in cabinetry ~ noticed the running grain immediately. Kinda reminds me of work seen in decades old custom built homes, when carpenters routinely took ownership & pride in their work. You're reviving a mostly lost art & it's very nice to see. Hopefully many more woodworkers will fall into doing this too, if they can convince homeowners of the benefits. Going cheap is actually pretty costly in the long run, when you factor in too-soon, too often, replacement & labor; forestry & landfill waste, etc. (It is true ~ most of the budget friendly & "affordable" painted & paper foiled pre-fab cabinets sold to homeowners is absolute junk. If customers knew they'd need replacing five years after install, they'd opt for the good stuff right out of the gate. Wear & tear on kitchen cabinets is tremendous, esp the lowers. Whenever you come across cheap cabinetry, peeling & worn to the wood, take pictures to show your prospective customers. So they see first-hand why they need to upgrade. They will be very thankful for your expertise later.)

It was because of this video and others like it that convinced me that the Dewalt Track saw isn't good. I ended up buying the Cordless Makita Saw, that came with 2- 5 mah batteries, Charger, a sustainer, an impact driver, and a 38" track for $499 at home depot. The Makita Saw is AMAZING.. The Track saw is truly a game changer when you need to break down full size sheets of plywood.

Personally and professionally I believe you are the #1 handyman of this millennium. Last millennium before youtube it was another guy and he would stand out on the corner with a sandwich board to tell his story.

Oh my gosh, you are teaching me so much, thank you!!❤ I had my heart set on buying Ikea kitchen cabinets because of the cost, but now after watching this video, I am re-evaluating the situation..and thinking (maybe) I can build them myself. Prior, I would have been intimidated in going into a "hard wood" store due to lack of knowledge of different woods, etc, but now I am doing my research. All I need...is someone who is brave to guide me in building the cabinets 😂😂 Can you please direct me to the type of cutting guide that I should use in cutting the boards into manageable sizes. I checked Amazon and there are so many 😳 to choose from. Much appreciate your time and effort in teaching us novice diyers. 🥂

Good advice. On the track saw. I have the Festool, and the track has grip tape on the underside. It does not slide around, even if the surface has sawdust on it.

In my cabinet shop we have 3 of the tools to cut the banding flush. Still don’t do as good of a job and a sharp chisel because sometimes they will take a chunk out of the plywood if there is a slight imperfection in the plywood. Also you did a great job on those cabinets.

I'm glad you got a amazing table saw. But us poor folk aren't gunna call up PowerMatic to buy a ~$4,000 Model PM2000B Cabinet Saw, that weighs ~680 lbs. I'd probably spring for a circular saw, with some clamps or something.. I already bought a chop saw, probably should have gotten a table saw instead.

Lol - I'm not into hard woods because there's an increase rate of lung and sinus cancer associated with hard wood woodworking. I made a night stand this summer: cheapo soft pieces at Home Depot, a biscuit joiner, glue and clamps - the only fasteners in the piece are what I used to put the top on. I did biscuit jointed wainscot downstairs and arts and crafts door and window trim everywhere with select pine. Maybe that makes me an internet troll - I don't know?
