Why you don't use a garbage disposal in this build? Thank you.
@TJLawrence254
@TJLawrence254 2 года назад
Good question. I get this question alot and I didn't do one for a couple of reasons. The first one is due to living rural. The septic system I have is not designed for digesting plant solids. They do make a special disposal system that injects enzymes when the disposal is running but they are very expensive. The second reason is I don't have the electrical wires or switch run and would have to add all that in to make it work. The third reason is money. I got this sink on clearance and am a tight budget. I hope this answers your question! Thanks for watching!

Make sure if you have granite or quartz that the new sink will fit in the old hole. Once, when changing out a sink, the plumber had to grind the granite a bit on two sides. Also, a good time to consider changing the shut-off valves if the old ones are showing signs of age with new quarter turn valves.

I've done this before. A word of wisdom/convenience - put the faucet and soap dispenser as well as the drain flange on BEFORE you install the sink. That way you don't have to do all that work while contorting yourself under the cabinet.

Absolutely. Cut the faucet box down and use it to protect the countertop. Install everything you can on the new sink before dropping into the opening.
@Chimel31
@Chimel31 Год назад
I think not, it's much safer if you are doing the work alone to keep the sink as neat and light as possible. It's really not that much of work to add the faucet and soap dispenser after. But if you have some kind of support where the sink can rest with its accessories and you have help to position precisely the sink in place, one person above the sink, one person under it, that may save 3 minutes.

If my granite countertops tops have a cut out with rounded corner and I want to drop in a sink with square edges that would barely fit even with square corners, is it possible to have the granite corners cut out to be square? If the front lip / flange of the sink is a tiny bit too short to cover the cutout is there anything I can do? And finally, I can’t believe none of these workstations give the minimum cutout needed. If the sink is 19” wide inside, (with 21” overall width), what do you think the minimum cutout width I could drop it into? Could I remove those channels or rails on the flange?

So my concern is making sure the flow through the p trap is correct and having enough room in my cabinet to drop the sink 9 inches. Any suggestions or resources I could look too?
@TJLawrence254
@TJLawrence254 2 года назад
Oh, that could be a challenge. You are in the right place! RU-vid has just about a video for any problem! Some of the best channels for home remodeling are This Old House and See Jane Drill. I started out learning the trades in Highschool. And from Handyman Club of America encyclopedias. But, whenever I am trying to figure out a problem like plumbing where I can't find a good resource online or in a book I usually just get all the possible parts I think I may need from Menards and keep trying parts Until I make something that works. It's not the most efficient way to do things but its how I learn the most! As far as flow you should have about 1/4 inch of drop per foot of pipe. If the outlet pipe in the wall is too high up to be slightly lower that the new trap, and the trap is installed as high as it can go, The pipe in the wall will have to be lowered. This requires a hole in the wall but is really not any more difficult that what I did in this video. Just a bit more time and materials. I hope this helps!

I hear that alot about the pre installation of the faucet. With the size and weight of the sink adding the faucet and not getting silicone on everything, it was a little safer for me to just install afterwards. Even if it meant some time on my back. My mom has that same sink and everyone hates it. Bottom pan just isn't pitched enough its a pain in the ass to clean out nothing wants to run to the drain :\

Thank you! I'll be doing an install tomorrow. I had a few worries about sealant and the like and your video answered all my questions and has given me the confidence to proceed.

One suggestion is to get that dishwasher drain line up as high as you can to make a "high loop" - this will prevent any clog from backing up into the dishwasher...

That right. You need to have that higher than the outlet connection. I must not have shown that. An easy way to do that is to zip tie the loop to one of the clips above to keep it from falling down. Thanks for you comment!
