Feral Ghoulash maybe he said that at some point but it never stuck. It’s name is rallyata, or rally Miata. It’s license plate says “rallyata” I believe.
That'd be a good idea. He is re-using his Flyin Miata turbo kit for the built motor swap though. Which is very smart. Flyin Miata makes proven durable products and they aren't cheap either! I'm interested to see where the FM Disco potato runs out of steam with the built motor! My guess is it'll hit restriction at around 290whp. But it may still be able to truck through to 330whp. Either way it's going to be interesting content, and an awesome BUILD
Although since it's a higher compression engine and not going to be the more common low compression, it might easily provide up to around 315whp before hitting size limitations on the turbo. :] It's an awesome idea, either way it's going to be sick. Super responsive. I can't wait to see how fast it spools... and builds boost.
I remember ordering a set of polyurethane mounts when Hasport came out with sets for the 1992-93 Acura Integra GS-R. They were the first aftermarket mounts I had ever bought and I was so excited to install them. They were quite expensive at $500 for the set but nobody else made mounts at the time for that model. I installed them in my buddies driveway and was extremely pleased. I started the car and there was a lot of vibration. I had some change in the coin tray and I soon learned to keep that area empty. I didn't mind though because launching the car from a dig was so good. It really put the power to the ground. I remember the first race after the install. This guy owned a CRX with a B17A1 and his friend who I had just had a fallen out with called me out to race the guy. He wanted his buddy to drag me so he could run his mouth after. I thought he was going to beat me since he had a lighter shell, but I was wrong. We lined up for a dig and then did a roll on the way back. As soon as my buddy dropped his arms we both took off. I launched at 4,500 RPM shifting right at 8,150 - 8,200 right before fuel cut and put multiple car lengths on him. On the roll back we started from a 20 roll and I put multiple car lengths on him again. When I pulled back into the spot, that little group had nothing to say to me and kept to themselves like a dog with it's tail in between it's legs. I knew I had built something nice to beat that little CRX. I did my homework and it paid off. The induction pulled in cool air from outside the engine bay, the engine ran strong and I ran the perfect diameter exhaust without a catalytic converter. My tires were a soft compound street tire and the lightweight flywheel and Competition Clutches clutch paired wonderfully. Man I miss that beautiful car. I put a lot of work into it. I had a paint wizard respray the car with 4 coats of color and 3 coats of clear in the OEM Aztec Green Pearl since it had lost it's perfection at one point. He blew my mind and when I came back the next day to pick it up after it had sat in the curing oven, I was speechless. There was virtually no orange peal before any wet sanding had been done. The paint looked so wet before it had been buffed and polished. He was a master at laying down pearls, candies, chameleon all the way down to air brushed creations. Now I'm going to be sad all day wishing I had never let that car go.
I got the corksport poly engine mount for my Mazda, it was the best thing I have ever done, shifting was butter smooth. Vibrations where bad for the first 2 days off driving and now I'm used to it, feels completely comfortable and oem to me because I'm used to it. I would recommend them, it's not as bad as people say.... I also have a 80 rated one and gingum has a 70....
RE: the rattling stereo. I'm not sure how the stereo mounts in a Miata, but you want to get some foam to insulate it. If it's held in by screws you want to put foam washers around the screws. If it pushes in and locks, getting some very thin sticky foam to put anywhere the stereo touches the mounting bracket would do a lot to quiet it down. Also the stereo itself might be rattling, so it might be time to get one of those fancy android head units with the flip up screen on it.
@@abbasjdmx our 1952 Chevy dump truck has a squeaky clutch and gas pedal. I don't know if the brake pedal is squeaky cuz it has a hole In a brake line so I've never used it
From what I have read over the years, those mounts quiet down a bit after a few thousand miles. Not a ton, but they soften a little bit, so the vibrations aren't as bad.
Dude!.... I have an AutoMagic Mazda 3 I upgraded all my Motor Mounts what a freakin difference in Throttle Response and off the line torque!...I did not believe they would make any change I was super wrong!
The motor mounts mellowed out within days for me, rather than the supposed 500miles like most people say. Part of me got more used to it and expect it now when i turn the car on, but a much larger part is that they do mello out. I noticed about a 25% decrease in NVH by the very next day. It's about 50% as bad now from the first install which was about 3 weeks ago. I will say though, that first day after installing them, that NVH was impressive! I lost a few nuts in the engine bay due to the vibrations. lol I had to buy new nuts and added some loctite. All good now! Still haven't missed a shift!!!! And that's what counts!! It's definitely daily possible, but you already have to be accustomed to a miata. If you went straight from owning a miata for a short period of time (daily) and got the upgraded mounts, you'd probably go nuts trying to stop every single one of the vibrations on your dash area, doors, and hard top lol. Thankfully for me, I've found that just pushing a shop towel into some places removes a lot of the annoying sound. And like I said after a few weeks, it doesn't even need the towel there anymore! 1 plus is you'll more easily be able to track down every single creek and looseness in your cabin. Haha Where as before, it was much harder to find all of the noises because they would only happen while you were driving. Rather than idling
Newer and stronger motor mounts = a little more torque to the wheels too! I wanna end up doing all polyurethane mounts and bushing that I won't change with after market stuff too.
I had replaced the mounts on my old DC5 with Innovatives 60a mount kit, had 4 mounts and the motor was defiantly not moving. Shook the car like mad. Drove great though.
Hey bro you can take some vibration out of it by drilling holes to the bushes to provide a little more flexibility, obviously it’s going to move around a bit more but worth
Low or burned clutch spline grease can make it seem like a bad slave as well. Also, I had a broblem with clutch fluid bouling because the slave was real close to the exhaust. Consider insulating appropriately as well.
I installed poly engine mounts and trans mounts with the softer version and I drove 6 hours one way to visit a friend and drive in stop and go traffic and drove upwards of 4 hours a day for a week yes at first the vibrations are insane to deal with but after awhile you do get use to it and they break in and arnt as brutal
There's a guy named Allen Skillicorn in Dundee, IL that has a 6spd. 40k mi on it and he uses Redline trans fluid. 3 month warranty. It's in one of the Facebook miata marketplaces.
I imagine it's a pita working on a car with glasses. Had glasses myself before and working on anything physical like wood working is a pain too. I was too wimpy to do contacts though, so I got LASIK instead.
Really? I wear glasses myself and I prefer them to contacts. I’m always scared that something is going to fall into my face whenever I work in the footwell or underneath the car. But everyone is different.
What ever happened to the wide arches you were gonna do? Rocketbunny makes some pretty rad ones i think would look great, comes with a nice front lip and ducktail wing too. Could get even bigger offset wheels and meat under that little monster
Thank you for cheering my boring days up gingium. With builds that are thought out of the box. I hope ur channel will blow up soon with the drift truck in a good way ofcourse. By the way meet up with ricer miata maybe and tommyfyeah?
dont know if u noticed but ur lower radiator hose has what appears to be a bit of fresh coolant on it at the 5:42 mark, damn 1.6s are always leaking coolant somehow
I used duct tape, cardboard and foam board to fix my furnace a year ago because the motor was rattling and so far so good, so I imagine it would work on a radio. :P That is a DIY home repair I'm actually quite proud of TBH. I've done all sorts of projects such as build my own shed, but when you can fix something with foam, cardboard, and duct tape, that's an accomplishment!
Don’t use wd-40 to lube your clutch assembly use white lithium grease and when your done spraying just push the clutch in to work the grease in and wipe the excess off
Why does everyone say they hate dailying a race car? When I did I loved it and I miss it... And bro, you should just wear glasses. They look good on you plus they back up as safety glasses
That new/used seat belt is so rusty and crusty I don't know if I would count on it holding, in case of an accident? Maybe its just the locating pin that is rusted out, not the actual mounting hole and bolt...
